'Islam & Christianity cannot coexist' Fargo School Board candidate Geske says board needs to address Islam | WDAY Radio

I love when fundamentalists are explicit about their views, which makes it clear that we should not vote for them.

>Carissa Geske talked about a moral law children should be taught adding Islam is something that needs to be addressed.

Sounds like a First Amendment violation to me.

>“In the west, we have benefitted from what our founding principals were on which is based on this idea. So, the Nuremberg Trials displayed this thing of when a country goes wayward, what do we do if there is something pure evil going on?” Geske said. When asked by reporter Austin Erickson if she believes Islam is pure evil, Geske said the Nuremberg Trials showed there’s a moral law that we need to recognize that supersedes the laws of the land.

Notice how she demurred to answer whether Islam is evil. She also stated that she's open to violating laws in favor of her religious beliefs. Should we trust her to uphold the standards and that are in place to serve our students if she feels the liberty to pick and choose which ones are valid?

>“We have to ask the question, which I haven’t heard asked, is what is that moral code coming from? Islam and Christianity cannot coexist.

I imagine it's pretty hard for them to coexist if you intentionally create a society in which one party isn't welcome.

>We are founded on arguably Christian principals, but Christianity doesn’t use coercion to force people,” Geske explained.

And yet she is open to using religion as a basis to compel others to "address" things, whatever that means.

>Geske added the west needs to be careful about what’s going on in the United Kingdom and the School Board isn’t talking about it. She went on to say Muslim leaders claim you submit or don’t and followers will be penalized, kicked out or killed.

Why is a school board candidate in Fargo concerning herself with the UK as part of her campaign? Why would the school board be talking about it?

>She went on to say Muslim leaders claim you submit or don’t and followers will be penalized, kicked out or killed.

Even if she were able to cite a specific instance of a UK Islamic leader saying that, I'm not sure that's representative of anything, and I doubt she'd want to be painted with the same brush as the worst members of her faith.

>“I would ask Muslim parents what are you teaching your children because you may be a professing Muslim, but you actually might be saying do not lie, do not murder, do not steal, do not covet. Then are they really operating out of a Muslim world view or not? That is something we need to address,” Geske said.

How the fuck does she want Muslim parents to respond to that? Is she going to tell them that if they teach their children basic, universal moral tenets like "do not steal," that they somehow aren't Muslim? What exactly does she mean by "address" in this context?

I really wish this line of questioning would have been pursued by an organization other than "The Flag," which is a conservative outlet.
