Tyler Owens has been a build engineer on Apex Legends since March of 2021, but before that he worked on Rocket Arena at Final Strike Games, served a stint in the U.S. Army, worked IT at various places, and provided infrastructure support for the better part of a year at 343 Industries—during the launch of the highly anticipated Halo 5: Guardians. Tyler and I talked about our respective memories of growing up with the original Halo, his journey as an early PlayStation gamer, the state of the games industry, and more in this career-spanning interview. This interview was conducted via Zoom back in 2023.
