Still in the Fog on Steam

Amigos less comparto algunos cambios en los que estuve trabajando recientemente en mi juego, le darían un vistazo al trailer a ver qué les parece? Me ayudan mucho compartiendo

The Sinking City 2

Holy shit...this game is terrifying so far, and nothing like I expected it to be (in the best possible way). I'm only a bit over an hour into it (just reached the restricted section of the library) and I'm finding myself genuinely scared in a way I haven't felt from a game since I played Silent Hill 2 remake for the first time, or Alan Wake 2 before that. Im jumping at every noise, inching my way through the dark coiled tight for an enemy (I don't know what they're called yet) to jump up out of nowhere.

If you played the first one like me, and expected this to be exactly like it, also like me, it's really not so far. The first game wasnt exactly scary. It was more creepy, and weird, but I didn't find myself actually scared too often unless I was walking through one of the infested areas. It felt more like a horror themed adventure/detective game, and I loved that about it.

I know only being a bit past the opening is a little early to be singing a games praises and be recommending it to others, but honestly I think I'm pretty safe in saying you guys need to check this one out.

It's not perfect, there are some small audio issues like the "slithering" sound of the piles worms still playing even if you crush them them all. And the flashlight will turn on facing away from Calvin I you click the button while his looking into the camera (I'm playing on ps5). I can absolutely get past those things, and I expect they'll be fixed in future updates anyway. So far my one honest complaint is that the gunfire lacks a bit weight to it. Also, the "quality" mode for the graphics seems to have a borderline unplayable framerate even indoors, but the "performance" mode is my usual preference anyways, and that works perfectly as far as I've seen, so that's not really a problem for me. This one might not be a problem for anyone but me, but the sound of doors closing behind you/after you open them is way too intense sometimes, it sounds like an enemy you haven't seen yet, or something and has made me jump out of my seat more than once.

Overall though I just felt so excited by what I've experienced so far that I had to make a post to tell someone how awesome this game is so far. Im so surprised at how different it is from the first game. I really was looking forward to it having the same feel that first had, but I'm not at all disappointed that it doesn't because it is so uniquely interesting, and actually scary. Although, I could just be too early, and once the game opens up more of that first game feel will return. Either way I'm loving it. If you were on the fence about this one I have to urge you to check it out. I promise you won't be sorry.

Play a lot of horror, pretty desensitized, Twisted Nerve on Ready or Not scared the hell out of me

For preface, love silent hill, resident evil, outlast, etc. Played enough to where it just feels mechanical going through it, no real fear. The Twisted Nerve mission in Ready or Not scared the shit out of me. For reference, while there's a couple scary moments throughout it, Ready or Not is a straight up tactical shooter, not horror whatsoever. Except for this mission, especially when you run it solo. The level is dark, it's all cramped hallways, and you're forced to run NVGs due to the lack of light, which narrow your vision significantly. Normally you're fighting your generic terrorists with automatic rifles, but not in this one. It's a meth den, filled with knife wielding addicts who quietly creep towards you out of the dark, and a knife hit is a one shot kill. They hide everywhere, under beds, in closets, behind doors. You're forced to go room to room, slowly and methodically clearing every hiding spot, hoping to god that you didn't miss one behind you. You're on your toes the whole time, and the houses you're raiding are filled with a million cracks and crevices for the methheads to flank you and sneak up on you from behind. I fucking hated playing it, but it was incredibly tense. Highly recommend.

Are the "Poppy Playtime" games worth playing?

I know these games have been out for a long time now and a fifth one released this year.

Are any of the games worth playing? I've heard some decent things about the first three chapters at least. But of those of you that played these games, what do you think?

[AMA] Developer of T.W.I.R.L. here, a psychological horror game about identity, self-worth, and growing up in 2006. We just launched today on Steam. Ask me anything!

Hi r/Horrorgaming!

I'm Ben, the creative director of Genie Boy Games. Today, we're launching T.W.I.R.L. on Steam!

T.W.I.R.L. is a first person psychological horror game from the perspective of a 9-year-old boy in 2006 waking up in the middle of the night from a dream where some "thing" - maybe a demon - commanded him to get out of bed, go into the room down the hall, and "T.W.I.R.L." - whatever that means.

What proceeds is a series of loops where something evil draws us through this routine, changing us and the environment upon every loop, unveiling the life story of a boy who grows up maintaining a deep, dark, and potentially sinister secret.

The game takes inspiration from movies and games like I SAW THE TV GLOW, SKINAMARINK, GONE HOME, and of course, P.T.

It was made as part of a David Lynch-themed game jam for the Haunted PS1 Community, and was published under their new "Haunted Publishing Syndicate" brand!

This is our studio's first game, and we are excited to finally share this story. The journey of sharing of our game, and talking about the themes and meanings within the story has been emotionally challenging, but tremendously fulfilling. Let us be the first to admit - this is an odd story to debut with. And it's something we get reminded of especially when trying to explain it to people without giving anything away.

We hope that T.W.I.R.L. inspires players with a feeling of reassurance, hope, and a better understanding of self.

Game-related questions are optional, but encouraged.

Here's a free code to redeem the game! 84658-6LY40-J8TAJ

Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4458840/TWIRL/

Launch trailer: https://youtu.be/Oltb5huMTns

I’ll begin answering questions on August 19 at 10:30 AM PT and will be here all day.

Thanks to the r/horrorgaming mods for hosting me!

Ask me anything!

Could anyone recommend a multiplayer horror game for myself and my brother to play?

I would like to find a horror game for myself and my brother on PC. I hope that the game has limited ways to defend yourself and is right creepy. I'm not necessarily looking for an action horror game like Dead Space 3 or resident evil, though I wouldn't mind them if there aren't a lot of options out there. I'm also hoping that it's more story driven rather than games like Outlast Trials or Dead by Daylight.

What we're looking for if I can give is an example, like, in order to progress you need to go into a creepy dark room. I look at him and go "hey. You go first." And he looks at me and goes "bullshit."

Do you prefer relaxing or dreadful safe room music?

Do you prefer something relaxing? Like RE1, Biohazard, The Dark Descent, or ominous and dread inducing like Signalis or RE3?

For me I prefer relaxing tbh

Silent Hill

Overall—in terms of enemies, story, settings, and events—which Silent Hill game do you consider the scariest, most bizarre, and most disturbing? For me, *Silent Hill 4: The Room* left me shocked and terrified from start to finish. The enemies—like the Twin—and the events involving the victims, especially Cynthia... For me, it was *Silent Hill 4* that really piqued my curiosity and made me fear what the next event or enemy would be. Walter was truly my favorite villain. And the settings, like the subway station and the apartment building—I really loved them.

Horror Nights: Rate my Winter horror game lineup and tell me what I am missing?

I have been working on this winter horror project for a while now and gaming is the next piece of the puzzle. I already have my movie lineup sorted and now I am moving to games. The idea is simple. I want to spend the cold months consuming as much horror as I can across movies, games, books, and TV shows. Gaming is probably the biggest commitment because these are not two hour experiences. These are ten to twenty hour journeys that require actual attention and engagement.

The thing is, I am not a horror veteran. I am what you would call a scaredy cat. I get tense easily and I have a low tolerance for pure dread. But I also feel like I am missing out on some of the best storytelling in the medium. I want to push myself and actually experience what survival horror and psychological horror have to offer. I am not trying to traumatize myself but I am open to being genuinely scared in a way that feels rewarding afterward.

I put together a list of ten games based purely on trailers, descriptions, and general reputation. I did not dig into spoilers or watch full playthroughs. I just followed my gut and picked the ones that gave me that curious feeling. I made a visual grid on Topster so I could see all the covers together and it looks really clean. I have attached the image so you can see exactly what I am working with.

A few extra details for context. Resident Evil 1 Remake on PC and if I enjoy it, I plan to work through the rest of the series in order. The same goes for Silent Hill and The Evil Within. Winter is long and I am not in a rush. For the PS2 classics, I am using PCSX2 emulator so any other PS2 Games is good.

I am not worried about frustration or difficulty. I can handle clunky controls and obtuse puzzles. I am okay with looking up a guide if I get stuck. My main concern is the fear factor. I want to know if any of these games are going to completely break me in a way that is not fun. I am okay with being uncomfortable but I do not want to feel genuinely traumatized or so stressed that I quit the whole project.

I am planning to start this around late September, probably between the twenty first and the twenty sixth. I have my Notion database already set up with checkboxes and notes so I can track my progress and look back at the end of winter with some nostalgia.

The list is not set in stone. I am here for genuine opinions and I am completely open to swapping things in and out.

Here is what I want to know from you. Is this a solid starting point for someone who is new to horror games but wants to take it seriously? Are there any games on my list that you think are too intense for a beginner? Are there any that have aged poorly and might be more frustrating than scary? And most importantly, am I missing something essential?

I feel like there are some absolute classics that every horror gaming beginner should experience and I might have overlooked them because I am new.

I appreciate anyone who takes the time to look at my list and share their thoughts. I am genuinely excited about this and I want to make sure I am going into it with the best possible lineup. Let me know what you think.

Hayden Panettiere best known for her roles in film, tv, and video game voice work has passed away at the age of 36, an unfortunate and sudden shame tbh💔

Bit of a crazy one that still doesn’t feel real. I’m a writer and my first book has been published today. It’s all about action horror games and features interviews with a bunch of iconic names - including the first chapter, with John!

John’s enthusiasm and honesty really sets the tone for some pretty personal stories throughout the rest of the book, which features chapters with Ken Levine, Marc Laidlaw, Maggie Robertson and many others.

It’s a dream come true for me. To round it off, John agreed to write the foreword, in which he says some immensely nice things about my work.

I figured people here might get a kick out of an in-depth, sit down chat with the great man himself. Oh, and the book features a killer jacket designed by comic book artist Ray Dillon.

‘Beyond Fear: Inside Action Horror Games’ is available online and across most countries right now, with pre-orders also happening in the US. I’d love for the community to check it out! Thank you and feel free to drop me any questions🤘

EDIT - I’ve had a few requests for links to order, so please see below 😊 Huge thank you to anyone who picks it up!

US pre-orders:

(Also available from Barnes & Noble etc)

UK orders (available now):

Still searching for a games that truly depicts psychosis

Hello id like to start off giving some context to why im seeking specific choice.

I have always struggled mentally and that comes to your usual thoughts of what someone like that might be, self harm, smashing objects and overall damaging belongings looking for a relief, confusion, heavy drug abuse, questionable life choices and etc, therefore ive always been fascinated by the human mind seeking to understand myself and others, with cry of fear truly awakening that love with the theme of psychosis and alteration of perception because i finally had found something i somewhat related to.

(never experienced a full blown psychosis with the closest experience having a drug induced psychosis that i seeked on purpose).

Now i will give a few examples of games features i wished to see and what i felt on the peak of my mental struggle

Games features:

- The twisted level design of cry of fear such as the forest level, Simon's apartment and final level that leads to the endings (my fav game and best example of psychosis imo yet)

- the design and story of the few pictures used in the original postal

- silent hill of course with its amazing mental depiction of someones mind

(Not remembering any more examples for now, ill edit later)

Things i have experienced while in my peak struggle:

(Most of these are only understandable to me and others that have experienced the same therefore EXTREMELY hard to translate into a game visually so only use these to have a better idea of what to look for)

- delusions of people looking and seeking for me

- visions of dead bodies along intrusive and detailed thoughts of torturing, killing and psychologically draining people who have done me wrong

- heavy drug use

- mental fog (as in having difficulty understanding things around me and memories seeming like a blur of objects and people)

- hallucinations

- extreme lack of hygiene

- self harm

- absolute disgust of food

- insomnia

(Among others that ill add later bc i don't remember right now)

DISCLAIMER - Im already much better and am extremely happy seeing my progress although i still feel like im not over that phase of my life as i still struggle with some of the stuff above. I am in therapy and properly medicated which definitely calms my thoughts of harming myself and others.

Thank you for reading all of this, ill be active a lot in this post bc ive been looking fo something like this for years.
