My cousin will be coming to Mauritius from Belgium in about a week's time. Since I have second car that I'm not using (Nissan AK13), I'll be lending it to him.

Now he is planning to drive using his Belgian driving license which I suppose is like the ID card type one. In regards to that, I read somewhere that a foreigner may drive for up to 3 years before applying for an International Driving Permit.

My question is, is that necessary since he'll be there for around 8 months only and also if they stop him for a routine check, how will they verify his Belgian license. Please note that he also has a digital driving license on his gov app from there. Finally are there any legal issues with him driving my car or any extra procedures?

Thanks in advance.

Hello VW family.

I have a VW Golf MK4 with a 1.4 engine and I noticed that it is very low torque when in first gear. I've driven a polo 6n1 before but also used to driving mostly japanese cars like toyota, hondas and mitsubishis that did not have this problem.

So basically in first gear, the car needs like 2000RPM or more uphill to get moving and threatens to stall but once it gets moving 2nd, 3rd gears and so on are super smooth plus the car really goes.

Is that torque problem, that is 2000+RPM needed in first gear normal for that specific car compared to other cars that need 1200 to 1500RPM?
