Audience Recordings from 2001, 2002, and 2003

Audience Recordings from 2001, 2002, and 2003

I posted about this project a few weeks back.

I've now transferred ~80 Disco Biscuits DATs. These are nearly all audience recordings from 2001, 2002, or 2003. Most are good quality, and a substantial portion are not widely circulating.

Here's a link to a folder containing flac files and photos of J-cards: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fo/k9sr865hqz211xvrhw6eu/AMWp4C6oJbMy7jNPNwox2bs?rlkey=qcs28fmk5mzzsazsypqvubwfg&st=796ndbkm&dl=0.

Feel free to download, and if the spirit moves you, track out a show or two and post them to the Internet Music Archive.

Finally, here's a link to a Google Sheet that contains a list of shows, set lists and lineages: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1asupb7Xdd13D2pJLFlqJTHWgQ53yTPCeOs8V0ZplrxQ/edit?usp=sharing.

Update on DATs: 14 shows uploaded to Internet Archive; more full-show flacs uploaded to DropBox

Festival!!!!!!!!

An update on transferring, tracking and uploading bluegrass recordings that were collected by bluegrass fans Dave W and Brian H.

Check out my post history if you're like, "Huh?"

All but 10 of Dave's 143 DATs and all 55 of Brian's DATs have been transferred to flac, with flacs and J-cards uploaded to DropBox: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fo/lwcwu3y8qwktcdmcwt5b0/AFV4nzvqJ66AZ1vSMjs85vE?rlkey=62qci0un4hk40q9s0zu7r5gdg&st=59bo944p&dl=0.

A very kind fellow redditor has cataloged ALL of these recordings to identify those not yet on the archive--and has already tracked and uploaded 14 shows now available to stream!

2001 Auds Transferred and Posted to DropBox

I've transferred 37 of 81 DATs in this collection, which represents everything from 2001. See photo attached to this post. I'll post 2002 and 2003 shows in the coming weeks.

Link to DropBox folder containing flacs are J-Cards here: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fo/k9sr865hqz211xvrhw6eu/AMWp4C6oJbMy7jNPNwox2bs?rlkey=qcs28fmk5mzzsazsypqvubwfg&st=mgnr4ptn&dl=0

Please read the ReadMe at the link, especially if you're interested in tracking out any of these shows.

I have not tested each flac file carefully, so if you find one that needs to be retransferred because I screwed up the sample rate or it's loaded with artifacts, just let me know.

Link to Google Sheet listing shows, lineage, etc: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ERut-nN2uCSMbfKv61xhrOhfR-cSicZu/edit?usp=sharing&ouid=106706300708519470273&rtpof=true&sd=true

Edit: forgot to mention that the quality of these varies WIDELY. Some sound great, and some do not.

Transferring 2001 / 2002 / 2003 Auds to FLAC

I just started transferring the 81 DATs I posted about the other day. Most sound great, and I believe many of these particular recordings are not circulating. In ~30 days, I'll post a public link to a Google drive containing flac files and photos of J-cards.

Here's Google Sheet that shows which dates and lineages this collection covers: [https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1asupb7Xdd13D2pJLFlqJTHWgQ53yTPCeOs8V0ZplrxQ/edit?usp=sharing\](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1asupb7Xdd13D2pJLFlqJTHWgQ53yTPCeOs8V0ZplrxQ/edit?usp=sharing).

I would welcome a volunteer or two to help track out these shows once I've finished transferring, so we can get shows posted to archive.org.

Help Me Identify Which of These DB AUDs are Not Circulating, So I Can Transfer to FLAC--and Share!

There are 81 DATs here. From what I can determine, at least half of these recordings may not be circulating. I've done some research (with the help of AI) to compile a Google sheet that lists the date, city/venue, whether I have the complete show, lineage, setlist, circulation info, a guess at who the taper might be, and whether I should transfer to FLAC.

Here's a link to that sheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1asupb7Xdd13D2pJLFlqJTHWgQ53yTPCeOs8V0ZplrxQ/edit?usp=sharing

If you have time to look at the sheet and add comments to Column M, whether to give an opinion as to who may have taped a given show, an opinion as to whether to transfer, or any other info you have, I'd really appreciate it.

I photographed all the J-cards, if those help jog one's memory. These aren't named by date, but the filenames are in order by date at this link: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1hXc8_oUWFvrwArD-PO9r8U3yjWGGYyM-?usp=sharing

I'm going to start transferring these this week. I've listened to some that may not be circulating, and they are in the B+/A- range on quality so far.

Edit: corrected link to sheet.

Edit 2: this link should work. Now saved as a Google sheet.

Live Bluegrass: 140 Recent DAT Transfers, dated 1980 to 2003, Most Not in Circulation

Edit 2: All files have been converted to 16-bit FLACs. Link here: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fo/lwcwu3y8qwktcdmcwt5b0/AFV4nzvqJ66AZ1vSMjs85vE?rlkey=62qci0un4hk40q9s0zu7r5gdg&st=wq7e5u7r&dl=0.

Also, a fellow Redditor has begun compiling a spreadsheet of all these recordings to identify those not yet in circulation, so they can be tracked and uploaded to the archive.

I've deleted the file names from this post, as they are cumbersome and that data is available at the link.

Edit 1: Hi folks! I am expressly asking for help to prepare these files for upload to the archive. I plan to continue transferring because I have quite a few tapes left, and I'm not confident with tracking, tagging, and uploading to an archive. Like, it took me a month to grasp the steps and obtain the equipment necessary just to transfer these.

I've failed quite a few times trying to do basic cleaning up, tracking, preparing files for upload, and uploading. I just don't have it down.

The equipment I used is in the Read Me at the link, and the lineage is either on the photo of the J card--or in the Read Me.

I would be ever-so-grateful if members of the community downloaded some of the shows they're most interested in--and prepared the shows for upload to the archive. I'd appreciate getting a copy of the results, if they're not uploaded. My email is in the Read Me.

Thank you!

Hello fellow fans!

I acquired ~200 bluegrass/newgrass/slamgrass DATs a few months back and have now transferred ~75% of them.
