Ed Tech Ep Discussion

https://youtu.be/7RX3P5ZLOQc?is=nb49v66uPLkMscYi

I am a director of technology for a top 20 School district in my state. We originally had a cart system for Chromebooks they each grade had their own and then after covid we became one to one.

Since covid every single year we have reduced the amount of Chromebooks that we give out. The whole elementary School is now just carts and kids get a Chromebook in middle school that will last them through senior year assuming they don't destroy it.

My school district has a pretty small population so it is actually a pretty low teacher to student ratio where it's about 20 to 25 kids per teacher so they get plenty of individual time.

A lot of Chromebooks and tech devices, more from the convenience part. Plus I can't really think of a job outside of trades where you're not going to be using a device professionally via emails or AI going forward.

I track everything from devices used in classrooms to not only students but teachers as well, I have data for how long they're on the screen I have data for any kind of question of parent could possibly have. And thanks to Ohio's parent Bill of Rights parents have the ability to access pretty much anything

The true thing that's going to limit the amount of tech in the classroom is how much devices have gone up in price over the past two years. A Chromebook that would cost me $200 now costs around $480. That almost doubling of price is what's going to do more to hold back buying more screens for our school.

A big part of Ed tech I've realized is that parents will farm out teaching their own children to technology instead. But nobody ever wants to blame the parents even though they have their kids 2/3 of the time. I have had parents calling me asking me to turn off Chromebooks after certain time like 9:00 p.m. and I'm just like take the Chromebook from them it's the size of a frisbee but they want me to be the bad guy.

UV Paint and light = interactive arcana check

I purchased a UV light to help cure some resin prints and noticed that some of my paints were really reflective.

Players can now use the flashlight to do interactive arcana checks to see the flow of magic

If you want to recreate what I did here is what I used

UV Flash Light

White Matte Spray Paint - Base Layer

Army Painter Speed Paint - Pick your colors

Warpaints Fanatic Effect Paints - This is the UV reactive Paint

---

I printed and painted my model then with a tiny detail brush I took a tiny bit of the glow color I wanted from the effects paint and lightly added it. If you pick complimentary colors they are all but invisible on the model since you dont need a lot and the shine is real even with a little bit of paint.

Yello Reflects the most

Housing affordability bill becomes law without Trump’s signature

https://www.npr.org/2026/07/10/nx-s1-5885027/housing-bill-without-trump-signature

President Trump called it "a big yawn" and refused to sign it on June 24, shortly after it passed.

On Truth Social that month, Trump dismissed the bill — officially called the 21st Century Road to Housing Act — as "of minor importance" and canceled a White House signing ceremony, stipulating that he would only sign if Congress passed a strict voter ID bill called the SAVE America Act. That bill would require proof of citizenship to register to vote and photo ID to cast a ballot. It has stalled in the Senate, where it doesn't have the 60 votes to pass.

"To me, compared to the SAVE America Act, just about everything is a big yawn," Trump told reporters in June.

President Cancels Plans to Sign Housing Bill unless SAVE act passes

https://www.nytimes.com/live/2026/06/24/us/trump-news

President Trump abruptly canceled his plans to sign a bipartisan housing bill on Wednesday, one that Republicans and Democrats had been eager to promote as evidence they were working to bring down costs for voters. Mr. Trump, who was holding a closed-door meeting with Senate Republicans, had said he would not sign the bill until Congress passed a law imposing new restrictions on voter identification and mail-in ballots. Still, the housing bill could become law without his signature

Pentagon uses CP generator Grok, to launch missiles

Pentagon says Grok used to launch missiles at Iran

The Pentagon artificial intelligence chief on Monday said Elon Musk’s Grok chatbot is tantamount to national security in a sworn statement that noted xAI’s technology has been used throughout the Iran war.

Cameron Stanley, the chief digital and artificial intelligence officer for the Department of Defense, wrote that the chatbot “enabled U.S. forces to deploy over 2,000 munitions to 2,000 distinct targets within 96 hours during Operation Epic Fury, a testament to the greatly increased operational efficiency made possible by the Grok Gov Model.”

Stanley’s statements were used as evidence in efforts by the Trump administration to preserve the xAI data center near Memphis, Tenn., where the NAACP alleges the company is illegally polluting the air.

The Justice Department has asked the judge to throw out the case, citing the need for access to the Colossus 2 data center, which Stanley described as “vital” to national security missions, including targeting, intelligence, readiness and recruitment.

Nothing like the US government using a service that hosted a bunch of CP that it made itself now launching missiles at little kids in foreign countries. This country has lost all sense of standards and all this because the Pentagon and this administration love violence

US-Iran draft deal nears with $300B reconstruction fund proposal for Iran

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/insight/us-iran-draft-deal-nears-with-300b-reconstruction-fund-proposal/gm-GMF671A536?gemSnapshotKey=GMF671A536-snapshot-3&uxmode=ruby

Draft deal details: Talks have produced a memorandum outlining a 60-day ceasefire, reopening the Strait of Hormuz, and a proposed $300 billion reconstruction fund for Iran.

Key sticking points: Disputes remain over nuclear program limits, sanctions relief timing, and maritime restrictions, with Israel’s role in the agreement still unclear.

Skepticism grows: Critics warn the plan may be a temporary patch to ease economic strain, not a comprehensive peace settlement.

I wonder how much of this money is going to go right into the Trump family pocket for the real estate deals and development.

https://www.cnn.com/2026/05/19/politics/irs-barred-investigating-trump-new-settlement-term

According to the new document, dated Tuesday and signed by acting Attorney General Todd Blanche, the federal government is “FOREVER BARRED and PRECLUDED” from prosecuting or pursuing “claims” or “examinations” arising from matters pending before the IRS, including “tax returns” filed by Trump before the agreement was reached. The language applies not just to Trump, but to his family, trusts, companies and other affiliates.

Totally normal right?
