People in the AI group, how do you stay motivated to take other studies?
After having been in the AI group for over a year now, I find it increasingly hard to find the motivation to do anything other than those. Even on days like these that are dry in terms of AI, I just can't get myself to take grueling academic studies, dull marketing surveys, etc, even those that have reasonable pay.
How do you keep yourself motivated for the other studies on Prolific?
You have been selected for this project! 🎉
The project in question: some boring survey in broken English, paying the absolute minimum of £6/hr, that will sit in your projects tab for like half a year with no option to hide it.
This feels like an insult, especially with the party popper emoji.
"Which audio maintains better consistency"
There's a bunch of reference media: videos, images, and voice samples.
Then the prompt instructs to replace the spoken text with something else, in an entirely different voice.
The task is to pick the output where the audio better maintains consistency with the inputs.
I find this to be a logical impossibility. If everything about the audio changes... Nothing is consistent anymore.
How can you possibly complete the task?
Do you have ~50 broken AI studies on your dash, or do you just get the occasional 1-place straggler?
Skimming both Prolific subreddits it seems everyone's experience is either they have 50 broken AI studies on their dashboard, or nothing at all, and when they do come in they're stragglers with one place that are broken anyways.
Latest batch of studies taking longer to approve?
A couple of normally instantly approving studies (galactic) have been pending for over an hour now. This batch popped up early evening GMT.
Of course I know researchers have 22 days to approve, but this particular study always approves automatically and instantly.
I wonder if something's wrong. Anyone else experiencing the same?
Camping the last page of a study to avoid speeding rejections?
It seems that a lot of researchers tend to greatly overestimate the amount of time needed to fill out a survey.
Since Prolific has started giving speeding warnings, and even insta-rejections, for completing studies "too fast", I feel I have no option but to camp on the final page of a study before submitting, if I notice I've spent way less than the allotted time.
It's always something dull too, like "read a fictitious scenario and answer some questions" where they give an intended completion time of 10 minutes, but you're done in 3 because everything is so straightforward. Like what else is there to do?
Does anyone else find themselves camping on pages to avoid speeding rejections?
Does one failed attention check (AI) immediately trigger a warning?
Last night when doing an AI evaluation I misclicked on an attention check. I immediately realized my mistake. It was near the end of the task and then I stupidly submitted at the end... It did instantly approve just like always. Then I logged off for the night.
This was over 12 hours ago. I fully expected to see a warning after waking up today, but there is none.
Are you allowed to miss one attention check before you get a warning? Thinking about it, it makes sense. According to Prolific rules, any study over 5 minutes long needs at least two missed attention checks before a researcher can fail a participant.
Or is it just that not all submissions are "manually" reviewed (which I'm skeptical about anyway)? Or do warnings take a much longer time before they show up?
Does anyone else prefer the Jennie Sardo studies over the other ones?
Recently some of the AI evaluations started showing under this name (and with a slightly different acknowledgement form). I like them much better than the regular Vortex... Better loooking, no glitches, no ambiguous instructions, no mean attention checks.
Sadly they only pop up maybe twice a day. I can't be the only one who prefers these, what do you think?
Never tweeting + only liking other's tweets = suspension?
My account that I've had for 3 years has been suspended out of nowhere. I've never tweeted or retweeted anything on this account, I use it exclusively to follow other accounts (artists mainly), and to like their tweets to support them.
I liked one artwork earlier, but then on the second one... boom, suspended for 'inauthentic behavior'.
Is this just how it is? Is lurking banned now?
Or might it be because I have Elon's account muted?
I just hope my other account that I've had since 2011 will remain unaffected, because I do need that one professionally and to interact with customer services, etc.
