Looking for a new amp

For like since i started playing i've been using a fender frontman 20g, which was pretty good but recently since i've been starting to record music now I was looking for a better amp. I really like the sound from Bleach from nirvana and was looking for something similar but I dont have too much money to drop on the actual amp used. At most i'll spend 1k, and I dont really want a huge one since it's going to be used in my bedroom. What are your guy's recomendations since I don't wan't to make a poor decision and regret it later.

Shure SM57 sucks

Recently i've been wanting to professionally record some music (well atleast make a track that makes my guitar sound better than phone recording) so I bought a shure sm57. I normally play punk grunge and metal type music so i use distortion pedals (specifically the boss ds-1) alot. I was recording a testing thing and the quality sounds horrible! It literally sounds like I recorded it with a phone ! Im using a scarlett 3rd gen solo for the interface and reaper for the daw. (this is the mice placement by the way https://imgur.com/a/vzjFKPc) this is my first time trying to record something that doesn't sound like a shitty recording so im decently mad and disappointed right now and i dropped 300$ for something that doesn't sound good. (adding up the interface mic and stand + wires and adapter) what am i doing wrong and how do i fix it????
