NVIDIA DGX Spark v Surface Laptop Ultra
If someone were choosing between NVIDIA DGX Spark at home connected via Tailscale versus Surface Laptop Ultra.
(The same question could be put comparing any soon to release equivalent laptop versus equivalent desktop/mini PC. I'm not focussing overly on those specific machines, but they are good examples)
Why pick the Surface Laptop Ultra? Beyond the convenience of having the device physically with you, in my mind it's heavier, likely to be limited by thermals and not convenient for leaving on for long periods working away on models.
Yes it would be cool to be 100% offline and on the one system, but a good internet connection to a remote setup, the only downside is the need to be online which is increasingly a low hurdle.
What do people think? Is such a laptop worth it? Does connecting remotely create such a disadvantage?
I realise the full details of the Surface Laptop Ultra have not been released but from what I'm understanding it's essentially a surface laptop 7/8, USB C on both sides and a bit thicker and heavier with a 128GB Spark inside. If anyone thinks it would be materially different to that I'd love to know your thoughts.
