Is this KEF setup a good upgrade, and what avr should I buy?

Hi, I’m thinking about replacing my Samsung HW-Q810D soundbar and building my first proper speaker system instead.

My priorities are:

-Anime, mostly through Crunchyroll

-Music through Youtube/spotify

-Clear dialogue and good detail at moderate/high listening volumes

I live in an old apartment with thin walls and high ceilings, so I have to be considerate of my neighbours underground. I can listen louder during the day, but I won’t be playing at very high volume.

This is the system I’m currently considering:

-Front L/R: KEF Q1 Meta – around €500 per pair

-Center: KEF Q6 Meta – around €700

-Subwoofer: RSL Speedwoofer 10E – around €500 including international shipping

-Surrounds later: another pair of KEF Q1 Meta – around €500

ChatGpt gave me this: AVR: Denon AVC/AVR-X3800H – around €1200

Are there good, but more budget options?

Questions:

1.Are the Q1 Meta good enough as front speakers when paired with a subwoofer, or would the Q3 Meta be worth €200 more?

2.How large would the sound-quality improvement be compared with my current Samsung HW-Q810D?

3.Would this system be clearly better for music and anime/films than a Samsung Q995GH/Q990H, JBL Bar 1300MK2 or Sonos Arc Ultra system?

Thanks for any advice or alternative AVR recommendations.

What soundbar system for 1000€ is best for anime/music

Hi, I currently have a Samsung HW-Q810GD_N connected to my Samsung Smart TV, and I think it's time for an upgrade. The problem is that I can't decide which system would be best for me.

The ones I'm currently considering are the Samsung Q990H/Q990F and the JBL Bar 1300MK2.

From what I've read so far, the Samsung systems seem to be better for movies and surround/Atmos, while the JBL seems to be better for music and has stronger bass. I'm looking for something that is great at both.

My room is in an old building with thin walls and high ceilings. I mostly watch anime and listen to music, especially The Neighbourhood and similar atmospheric/"sad" music.

Questions:

1.What would you recommend for my use case?

2.Is there another system I should consider as well?

3.Is it true that the samsung system is not good for music?

DT 1770 Pro MKII – or something better for music + competitive gaming?

Hi, I need to buy a new pair of headphones for my PC setup. I'm very new to this topic and don't really know what to do. I've been using the Arctis Nova Pro Wired until now, but after days of reading posts, I still can't decide what to get.

I watched some YouTube videos where people said that the Beyerdynamic DT 1770 Pro MKII have very good bass and are good for gaming, but are only okay for music overall. The FiiO FT1, on the other hand, are supposed to be very good for music but not that great for competitive gaming.

I'm looking for headphones that are fun to listen to for music, while still being good for competitive gaming. I also need a DAC/amp anyway because my onboard audio is broken.

I'd really appreciate your headphone + DAC/amp recommendations.

Best closed-back headphones under €600 for gaming & music? Upgrading from Arctis Nova Pro

Hi, I need to upgrade my headphones because my current pair, the SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro, is reaching the end of its life. I use them for competitive gaming, listening to music, and watching anime. I mostly listen to pop, phonk, and classical music.

I'm looking for a noticeable upgrade over the Arctis Nova Pro in terms of sound quality. I prefer a fun, V-shaped sound signature. They need to be closed-back because my PC can get noisy sometimes. My budget is a maximum of €600.

Info: My integrated sound card (Realtek ALC1220) is broken, so my 3.5 mm audio output isn't working.

Questions:

  1. Do I need to buy a separate sound card?

  2. A lot of people recommend high-quality, neutral studio headphones. Could I just buy one of those and EQ them to get a fun, V-shaped sound signature?

Best closed back Headphones for gaming/music

Hi, I currently have the Arctis Nova Pro Wired and I’m looking to upgrade my headphones. I use them for competitive gaming, as well as listening to music and watching films. Since my PC can be quite noisy, I’m specifically looking for closed-back headphones.

My budget is around €500, although I’d be willing to spend a little more if it’s really worth it. Comfort is important to me, especially for long sessions. The sound quality should be a noticeable upgrade over my current Arctis Nova Pro Wired. I would prefer a wired pair because of the sound quality, and I’d say I generally like a V-shaped sound signature.

Summary:

- Around €500 budget, slightly more if worth it

- Comfortable even during long sessions

- Best possible sound quality for closed-back headphones

- Closed-back design

- Wired preferred

- V-shaped sound signature preferred

- Clear overall upgrade from my current Arctis Nova Pro Wired

I need help with this condition

Sorry for the long text. I would still be happy if some of you could read it and type me your thoughts about it. Thx in advance.

I’m 19, only have one friend, was bullied from 6th to 10th grade (ignored in high school), no meaningful hobbies, lost the one hobby I enjoyed, almost no contact with my dad, spending 99% of my time at home sleeping all day or playing video games. My mom is busy with work and taking care of her mother. And I hate myself.

The strange thing I experience are my extreme mood swings. I feel like a piece of shit. I think about ending myself. But then I get some hope, courage, and set the goal to change my life. I start doing sports again, think about options for my future, and be a little bit happy. It’s like being in a free fall and then the universe reaching out its hand towards me and I gladly accept. But then, from 0–100, everything breaks apart. The ground under me just gets deleted and I’m back in the free fall, falling even deeper.

This cycle is repeating itself every time. I don’t even understand it myself. But my time is running out. The deadlines for applications at universities for this year are running out soon. Next March I’ll be 20 and I’ve only achieved one thing: dropping out of university after one month.

Every time this mood crash hits me, it feels like I get betrayed. Pushed off the cliff, and the deadline creates pressure and time is moving forward so fast. I’m scared. I don’t know what to do.

I see visions of me being alone, living just to live, and waiting for my mom’s death so she doesn’t have to witness what her son is about to do. But I’m at a point where I can’t even promise to wait that long.

Something has also changed in the effect of my mood crashes. I cried more and felt more sad, but it shifts towards something different. Still sad, but at the same time warming up to the idea of no longer being here. I sit at my PC listening to music and imagine sitting at twilight on a park bench taking some pills and just escaping all of this (the end).

I don’t need to worry about any of this anymore. I can just feel nothing. It’s just over. The embarrassment my only friend Alex is witnessing when I tell him again what I plan to do and, as always, I doesn’t get it. My mom sees it too. She said something that hit me hard: “It’s like there are two different sons I’m speaking with.”

Does anyone have experience with something like this?

I would try everything to get better. I already told my friend Alex about my thoughts. I tried online therapy too. I am desperate, but before I do it, I want to be able to say that I tried everything. But if there is nothing, maybe its just time to say goodbye guys.
