Can I Fix My Flat Feet Naturally?

Hi Guys,

I'm now 31 and have had flat feet for my entire life.

I can remember it first being picked up by a teacher at my junior school who sent a note home to my parents that there was something wrong with my gait as I have always duck walked.

I went off to the podiatrist and got some inner soles and carried on my life pretty much as normal. I was never much of an athlete but always enjoyed sports etc. The podiatrist basically just said that it was the way my body was put together (very "externally rotated") and to just wear the inner soles and carry on with life.

Even today I still run on the treadmill a couple of times a week and walk at least an hour each night so it's not like I'm not able to function by any means.

What I'm concerned about now though is the knock on effects that the way I walk and stand has on my body as I've developed very tight hips and also have always struggled with being round shouldered and had quite poor posture. Having done more research I've found that these problems are all very likely to be linked to my feet and I'm concerned about them getting worse as I get older and beginning to impact my mobility.

Is there anything I can do to counteract these effects? It's difficult to know where to start when I've most likely got imbalances all the way up my body and a lot of the stuff I see on YouTube is quite contradictory.

Some advice would be much appreciated.

Does The LIC Sector Have A Future In Australia?

I've always followed the LIC space after AFIC was my first ever investment way back in 2007.

I reckon the current environment is as unfashionable as I have ever seen it and I've just finished a bit of a "deep dive" for my hobby blog on the future of the space which features some examples of a couple of lesser known funds (Staude Global Value and WAM Microcap) that are proving the model still has some relevance.

Would be keen to get some views from other long term oriented investors:

How to improve hand writing as an adult

Hi Guys,
I’m a 31 year old male who has always had poor hand writing. In recent years I feel like it has gotten even worse to the point where I now feel a bit silly giving people cards that I’ve hand written as they struggle to read it. I’ve posted a picture of my hand writing and also my pen grip as I’m wondering whether that is part of the issue? Just recently I had a friend who is an occupational therapist see me writing and comment that I may have weak grip strength which I found interesting. Any advice would be helpful!

Selling Out Of New Hope Coal: One Of My Biggest Investing Mistakes

For anyone who would like to revel in my investing misery I decided to track back and calculate the opportunity cost of my decision to sell out of New Hope Coal in 2021 on my hobby investing blog:

A little bit of a post mortem on a decision that cost me a 5 bagger! I'm hoping some other value investors will get something out of this and it was actually quite fun looking back over it.

Hi Guys,

I've just finished a write up for my hobby investing blog on Soul Patts which I've been following closely for nearly 10 years as a long term holder.

It's at a very interesting point in its history and by my calculations is holding around a billion in cash post the big TPG sell down.

I would be interested to hear what some other long term/value oriented investors think!
