I love rain.

I feel like the rain settings are perfect right now; no more endless dry tracks with the one odd thunderstorm that should be red-flagged. Fuji and Austria in IMSA have been amazing so far, and I appreciate that we are getting more rain races in the mix. So much fun to go into a braking zone seeing just taillights of the car ahead or nothing at all, especially in multiclass. Its the one time I can really compete and beat some of the higher 3-4k drivers as a 1.5k.

Universal Hub V2 bricked? Stuck in firmware update loop

Edit: The issue was not actually the hub, but the wheelbase. It was a hardware issue where simply unplugging and replugging the drive shaft resolved it.

Was off the sim for a few days because work was absolutely slammed. Came back to play iRacing and now I’m stuck in an endless firmware loop. I have had the setup for a few years with no issues until now.

The loop is:

  • Base turns on and connects to my PC normally
  • The firmware updater automatically opens and puts the wheelbase into update mode
  • It "updates" the device info, then closes
  • The base goes back into PC mode and immediately starts the same loop again

I have tried manually updating the wheel through the firmware updater, but I can't actually flash the Hub because the firmware loop keeps forcing the base back into update mode before the Hub update can happen.

The Universal Hub never shows up properly in FanaLab, Fanatec Control Panel, or the Fanatec App.

Things I have tried:

  • Uninstalling and reinstalling the Fanatec App multiple times
  • Completely removing all Fanatec files before reinstalling
  • Trying older drivers/FanaLab-era drivers
  • Manually flashing firmware through the updater
  • Manually trying individual firmware files
  • Removing the Endurance Module and testing with just the Hub

Setup:

  • CSL DD QR1
  • ClubSport Universal Hub V2 QR1
  • ClubSport Endurance Module

The Endurance Module seems fine (same issue happens with it disconnected). The issue seems to be with the Universal Hub firmware.

The weird part is the firmware updater does detect it as a ClubSport Universal Hub V2 and says the device information updates successfully, but I cannot get any firmware to actually flash. It just refuses and continues the update loop.

Starting to think the Hub firmware is corrupted, or the Hub itself has died.

Anyone have any ideas before I give up and look at replacing it with a Podium Hub? I’ve tried basically everything I’ve been able to find so far.

Thoughts on an ELMS style race series? (GT3, LMP3, LMP2) *SPECULATIVE*

I am just being speculative ... but I am curious to see if this is something that you would enjoy or maybe want to see in a future build? I love racing the P2 and P3 cars, but am a bit disappointed that we can't run them together in officials like in the occasional LMU race.

I understand the current build cannot support this, as it would likely be another addition to B class, and it would take away from the C-class sports car and A-class IMSA series. (Plus, iRacing does not and will probably never get ELMS licensed) But would this style of multiclass interest you?

What do you think of this situation?

Had this interesting 3-wide scenario today in the Bathurst.

Red/White car on the inside takes their line, Red/Black/Blue car (The driver in question), goes a tiny bit deep, allowing me, the Yellow/Red/White car, to attempt the switchback. Surprisingly clean for the 3 of us to be honest. However, there is lots of traffic rejoining on the right, and the other car moves left to avoid the green car ahead.

Please correct me if I am wrong. I am here to learn/improve, but I feel like that shift was them ignoring my presence, and it threw me off track. (Also curious if forcing another driver onto the pit exit and the grass after it in this scenario counts as forcing me off?)
In the end, we all end up back on the road with me a bit further back now, but, being critical of myself too, I probably hang onto his rear too much as there is some space on my left. They then floated left a second time, forcing me off track again. Maybe they still didn't know I was there. This was when I backed off and decided it wasn't worth it. Everyone ended up ok with nobody wrecking another car... for now.

In the end, I spun myself out at the second hairpin in an accident that was my fault, no other cars involved. The other driver does the same thing later in the lap, in an accident with them as the only car involved as well. Oh well lol. This leads into the next video, where I come up on them in the last turn, and they take us both out. This made me a bit curious if the off tracks earlier were from a lack of attention or a bit malicious.

I also included driver cams for us both on the first clip, and their driver cam for the second to make things clearer. I'm always looking to improve and see how I can approach things differently, so feedback is much appreciated! Thanks in advance for the opinions/help!

I seem to have a habit of flipping LMP2s lol

Lesson learned that eating the curb at T12 in Detroit can throw your car off balance so much you flip into the wall lol.

Still re-learning the track for next week, and was toying with how much curb I can take... apparently not a lot there haha

Tim Hortens Livery! (For the Canadians)

Currently, I'm on some rig downtime while I'm doing some upgrades, so I sat down for a while to actually make a custom paint job.

Thought Tim's would be a fun, unique one to do and included the good old double-double coffee and some Timbits: )

Pictures are not great, so I apologize for that (unfortunately, I can't get into the sim to take better photos yet)
