Hi, everyone. I received a very strange letter today from the DMV. It essentially said that my North Carolina driver’s license was medically cancelled, because the DMV was notified I was adjudicated incompetent. It cited the laws G.S. 20-17.1(a) and G.S. 20-9(d).

At first I thought it was fake, but I checked my DMV account and my driving status was indeed listed as a Medical Cancellation. And that I was found to be medically incompetent by the court system.

But here’s the thing…I’m perfectly healthy. I’m 22 and recently graduated from college. I have no medical conditions at all. I’m going to call them first thing tomorrow, but I don’t understand how this could have happened? I received no notices prior to this. The letter said I had 10 days to appeal, and that I would need to request a court hearing before the Medical Review Board. This is just super ridiculous to me, and I’m not entirely sure how I’m getting to work this week because of it.

Has anyone experienced this before?
