Hi everyone, I just put a deposit for my EX5 em-i. I wanted to take your suggestions on which of the 2 colors do you like - silver or black?

And between the 19kwh vs 29 kwh battery which makes more sense given the 5000 AED price difference?

Btw - I pivoted to the geely after spending almost 2 weeks fixated on the byd songplus premium. The geely has similar quality of interiors, but much cleaner look! The power is a bit lower, but is peppy enough for me.

BMW X1 20i vs BMW X4 30i vs BYD Songplus premium

BMW X1 20i vs BMW X4 30i vs BYD Song Plus Premium (UAE) – What would you choose?

I'm struggling to decide between these three options and would love some real-world opinions.

Option 1: BMW X1 20i (new)

  • Price: ~AED 219,000
  • Power: ~200 hp, FWD
  • Latest BMW interior and Operating System
  • Modern cabin design and tech
  • No ventilated seats
  • No adaptive cruise control

Option 2: BMW X4 30i (2025 model, new)

  • Price: ~AED 239,000
  • Power: ~250 hp, AWD
  • More premium segment vehicle
  • Much stronger engine and performance
  • Older BMW interior/tech and operating system compared to the latest X1
  • No ventilated seats

Option 3: BYD Song Plus Premium (PHEV)

  • Price: ~AED 149,000
  • Loaded with features
  • Best of petrol + electric worlds
  • 320 bhp power, tested it and the AWD electric motor pull is amazing.
  • Ventilated seats
  • Adaptive cruise control and full ADAS suite
  • Huge value-for-money proposition
  • Obviously not a BMW in terms of badge, driving dynamics, or brand perception

A bit about my use case:

  • Daily driving in Dubai
  • Family use
  • Comfort and features matter
  • Large portions of my drive are home-office journeys on Sheikh Zayed road
  • I enjoy driving, but I'm not doing track days
  • Keeping the car for 4–6 years

My dilemma:

  • Is the X4 worth spending ~AED 20k more than the X1 for the extra 50 hp and more premium platform, despite having older tech?
  • Or is the X1 actually the smarter buy because of the newer cabin and infotainment?
  • And when I compare both against the Song Plus Premium, am I just paying a massive premium for the BMW badge while giving up features like ventilated seats and adaptive cruise?

For those who have owned or driven any of these, what would you pick and why?
