Thoughts on authenticity?

TLDR: got a coin recently, not sure if it’s genuine. Concerned about the edges. (This is not my first Edo bar coin, just haven’t learned the series yet.)

Greetings, I recently acquired this 一分銀 (maybe Tenpo era?) and was curious as to what you guys thought about it in terms of authenticity. It seems to have some decent hallmarks of the Tenpo era stuff according to the rectangle coins website; weakness of details on obverse between 一 and 分, properly inverted sakura, weight, and the like.

One thing I have concerns about is the edge. While it appears there are validation marks (on all four sides), I am not sure if it is supposed to be otherwise smooth. I’m also not sure if it is supposed to have validation marks on all four sides.

Let me know what you guys think, I am interested in hearing your thoughts. Thank you for your time!

Passport (US) Expiry - Japan/Taiwan

So, I have a trip coming up on Sunday (it was short notice) to Japan and Taiwan. I’ll be spending 2 weeks in Japan, then I fly from Japan to Taiwan, spend a week there, and back home. All of my layovers are in the US, I shouldn’t be seeing any airports outside of the US, Japan, or Taiwan.

My question: will the airlines give me any trouble considering that my passport is valid less than 6 months?

My passport expires July 27th of this year, but my trip is May 17-31st (Japan) and June 1-7 in Taiwan. According to the US Department of State (and corresponding departments in Japan/Taiwan), I should be good as both countries only require US passports to be valid for the duration of travel.

I have heard that airlines can decline boarding with their policies. Does anybody have any experience with this?

(Flying on Alaska/Hawaiian Air to Japan, then Japan Air to Taiwan, finally United takes me home)

Japanese Coin Shops

So, I am traveling to Japan and I am wondering what coin shops are like in Japan. I have done a little research here and there, but nothing conclusive. I am kind of curious as to whether they have anything comparable to circulated US 90% silver. I’ve seen some sterling 100/1000 yen coins, that and 72% Sen/Yen from just before WWII (those are particularly beautiful)

Basically, I am wondering if anybody may have any experience with coin shops in Japan. I am considering trying to find smaller shops that might trade US silver for Japanese silver. That and just how the shops are or if anybody might have a personal favorite shop in Tokyo or Osaka. Or anywhere else really, I do want to see places other than Tokyo.

Thank you to anybody for the information!
