Babymoon timing and ideas

Alright ladies, for a bit of a different post - I want to know if you're planning any babymoons and when!

I'm personally thinking in October, about 2 months before my due date. I think that would make me roughly 31 weeks - is that too late? Will I feel too pregnant and not cute?

How long will you go for? Are you aiming for somewhere hot or cold? Fly or drive?

I'm in Aus so thinking somewhere further north, like northern NSW or QLD, that's warm and within 4 hours flying. Hit me with all your plans, ideas and suggestions <3

Abseiling, canyoning and hiking at 10w pregnant - my experiences

I thought I would share my experience here as there wasn't much information I could find online for someone in my shoes. Let me start by saying I am not a doctor, but I am a healthcare professional and an active person with good awareness of my body and health.

I have just completed a 6-week vertical rescue roping course, finishing it at almost 10 weeks pregnant. I found out the day before I started, at 3.5 weeks, and decided to continue the course until I reached a point I felt I couldn't.

I wear an industrial rescue harness, and use twin rope systems with a main line and belay. For the first 3 weeks, everything was very skills based, mainly in the same locations on <30m cliffs. This all felt pretty manageable, as I didn't have any sickness and no major body changes.

For the following 3 weeks, I completed multipitch abseils, canyons, pack marches, navigation in the dark, overnight stays, and contact rescues of injured climbers. I found my biggest challenge was carrying a pack uphill. I felt quite short of breath and was noticeably slower than my colleagues. To manage this- I shared a lot of my gear out with everyone else, so my pack was more like 15kg instead of 25kg.

I did hurt my back at 6w pregnant, but that turned out to be a ligament strain on L5-S1 which quickly improved. I suspect pregnancy hormones may have had something to do with it, but I couldn't say for sure.

I was lucky I didn't have any major symptoms that impacted my functioning. I felt nauseous from weeks 7-9 of pregnancy, but this seemed to improve during the last week of my course. Otherwise I'm putting on weight and my boobs have grown but I was lucky I didn't get morning sickness or unmanageable fatigue. Interestingly, undertaking some of these activities proved to be a really useful distraction from the queasiness and nausea, so I definitely advocate for exercise to your level of tolerance where you can.

Basically, there was minimal info online that supported undertaking this type of physical activity. Whilst I couldn't get into my doctor for a recommendation, I suspect the answer would have been "don't do it". But I am here to say some of these activities proved to be manageable, and that as pregnant women we are capable of a lot more than I think a lot of outdated doctors or advice believe. I also advocate for telling a close/trusted boss or colleague, as I wouldn't have been able to finish the course without their understanding and support.

If you have any questions, let me know, otherwise good luck to all the other fit mamas out there!

So my boobs currently feel enormous, and I'm starting to pop out of my old bras. I'm only 8w4d.

When do you start buying new bras? Do you buy bras in a bigger cup size now, or go straight to maternity bras? Are they likely to get even bigger again? Help 😇

I'm 7w3d today and going for my first scan. Exactly a year ago I had my first scan and there was no cardiac activity, which was followed by a repeat scan that showed the yolk sac (?) had gotten smaller and I had a MMC.

I can't help but feel really anxious and hopeful at the same time. It's taken us 18 months to conceive this one, and it's been 12 months since my last miscarriage. At least this time around my boobs still feel sore and my nausea is increasing, so I'm telling myself this is a viable pregnancy.

I really really hope this one sticks. Send me all your good luck vibes 💕

I'll be camping in the blue mountains in early May for 4 nights and I expect it to be cold. I'll be up and down doing things for the 4 days but really want to maximise my opportunity for good sleep.

I have a therm-a-rest mat which is ok, but I'm looking for something more plush and cushy. Potentially 10cm, durable, not massive. I don't have to hike in with it but it needs to be relatively compact and easy to set up. Needs to fit in a 1-man Mont Moondance tent.

All suggestions welcome, with reasons why you recommend it!
