Yamaha Vstar 650 1999 issues starting
Hey I’m new to the Yamaha subreddit and motorcycles, I want to learn how to work on my own bike and would appreciate any advice I could get!
I recently bought my first bike and my friend helped me clean the carb, gas tank and put a new fuel filter on it. It was working alright starting first try for the first few weeks but I was unable to start it in cold mornings and have been now having issues even during the day where It’ll start first try in the day but if I let it go without throttle it’ll die and won’t start again. Fuel doesn’t seem to be the issue, battery keeps dying but that’s because I haven’t been riding it.
We adjusted the idle speed for a separate issue where the bike would idle too high after riding for a while and lowering the idle seemed to fix that, not sure if it’s related but thought I’d mention it.
I’d recon to start with the spark plugs so far
I’d appreciate any advice I could get for fixing the issue, I’d like to be able to daily commute the bike (I work early mornings).
