Unreturned and Lost Book [UP Baguio] (huhu please help this financially struggling iskx)

I know it's entirely my fault so I really want to take the situation in my hands.

For context, I had 2 book which was unreturned for over 1 year, and I lost one of these books which is entitled "Physical Geology" by Plummer, Carlson, and Hammersley and its cover is as shown in the picture.

So in my case, I have been fined with the following:

PHP 976 for the accumulated cost of unreturned books.

50% of the book's cost which has been lost (which is they have to be said to be PHP 3,025

• A new replacement of the Book.

The book is really expensive and these fees would take a toll on my current balance, so I want to find a way to minimize it as much as possible and one way to do that is find a site or place where I can buy the replacement of this book at lower price. So I really need my fellow isko's and iska's help🥹. And I really need to resolve this as soon as possible to stop the accumulating costs and be able to receive my clearance.

I would appreciate any sort of helpful advice or insight on this matter. Thank you very much!

Computer Engineering in UP DILIMAN (Book and Topic Recommendations)

Hello! I am an incoming freshman for UPD BS Computer Engineering. In this case:

I would really want to prepare in advance for the topics that would befall me under the awareness that IEEE is really known for its notoriety.

Subsequently, I have several questions:

  1. Do you have any book recommendations for Incoming BS Compeng freshies?

  2. What are the topics worth preparing in advance for?

  3. Is a laptop absolutely needed?

  4. What programming language is the easiest and best for building up programming skills as a beginner?

  5. What should I be doing as an absolute beginner at programming and also even using laptops?

  6. Is it possible to get a copy of syllabus of major compeng courses from lovely seniors?

For my background, again I am an absolute beginner at programming and also bad at handling laptops/personal computers because I have always seen myself using phones instead for convenience (including doing docs). so I would also love to know what I should learn first and how to start handling my laptop and programming like a pro (not in a literal sense). But I think I'd really need your thoughts on this one.

Thank you for your helpful and love-filled comments!

[BS STAT UP Diliman] Transferring as a T1 into the BS stat program on UP Diliman

Just this morning, the school of statistics released which I thought to myself before, the "final results" for transfer applicants.

I was one of the applicants who got exempted from exam and since I was confident I could fare well in the rankings, I did not take the exam and simply let things flow as they are, and adding more napakamahal ng pamasahe from my province to diliman which could cost me more than a thousand pesos.

Here I am, I waited for 2 stressful weeks only to be met with "you are required to attend a FACE TO FACE interview" since limited daw ang slots. I was absolutely shocked. I did not expect that email since it was supposedly the final result.

I tried so hard to understand the root cause which is the systemic issue with funding but I just cannot help but be frustrated and disappointed kasi it IS unprecedented na may interview pang mangyayari which has never been implemented by the evaluation committee in this program as far as I remember and I thought I was so unfortunate to undergo this.

Another issue is that it is FACE TO FACE, like I didn't take the exam due to the issue of fare and now we are required to go there? Like am I this unlucky? Mahirap talaga maging mahirap hahaha.

I really wanna know what I can do despite this, they have said that the decision is final and that interview is required face to face. Can I ask them to carry out online interview instead? Like would that not jeopardize their evaluation of me?

They have said that "they will not be accepting any kind of appeals as the decision is final for this round". And everything kind of fell apart as I read that because what can I do besides bearing the cost just to complete an interview? I don't really wanna let go of this program but life is really making it hard for things to go my way
