No freezing this time
I went to the Paradise State of Mind tour Feb of 2025 in
Detroit and purchased VIP. I wanted to ride the rail so I
was literally the first person in the VIP line. About 2
hours before doors opened. Where I initially lined up I
was in front of the building. Shortly after, someone came
out and said we have to start the line on the side of the
building. We go to the side, it is an absolute WIND
TUNNEL. It's already freezing outside and this just made
it substantially worse. About an hour goes by, I am really
starting to feel it but at least I'm in the sun... someone
come out again, "you guys need to be across the
street"... cool whatever... til we get there and realize this
side of the street is not in the sun 😬🤣 not only are we
in a wind tunnel, but now they took away our sun. It was
like they were doing it on purpose. I didn't feel very VIP
at this point. It gets to the point where we are all frozen.
Everyone bundled up as much as possible. A friendly line
neighbor offers me this crazy space blanket.. it looks like
foil, I dunno what it is. I politely decline. We only have an
hour or so, I'll be ok. WRONG. I was not ok. Thinking
back it was probably pretty dangerous what I was doing
to my body to be a rail rider for this show I've been
waiting 10 years to see. My girlfriend taps out
(understandably). She goes to a nearby bar and warms up.
I hold my ground. We WILL be up front. Finally everyone
in line looks at me and is like "Dude, go warm up, youre
gonna die" 🤣 they offer to keep my place in line. 💙 I go
to the bar, go pee, warm up about 20 minutes and get
back in line. We finally get in about 30 minutes later and
I head straight to the rail while my gf got us drinks. I
can't feel my body for about 45 minutes after we get
inside. I was miserable. I endured the most. Then, the
show started and I could feel again. The fungus took
over and I live out possibly the best show Ive ever been
to. I laughed, I cried, I had spiritual awakenings. It was amazing.
Annnnnyways.. I am super stoked they are doing Amphitheaters this go around. I bought VIP. Front row. No freezing this time and I am insanely excited and grateful for that.
If you are on the fence about going to a show for this tour. Let this be your sign to just go. I'm glad I dont have to, but I'd freeze for them again.
P.S. that space blanket actually worked super well and I was super jealous I didn't say yes 🤣
(Thank you to everyone who talked me into warming up)
