Anyone who has driven through this understands
I'm a motorcycle accident attorney, but not your attorney. This is not legal advice. No one plans to crash, but heres some advice based on what I've seen. This is additional advice besides "dress for the slide not the ride" type of advice.
1.) Don't ride like Youtubers
Specifically those videos of people getting justice for someone cutting them off or being rude. I turned down about 10 cases where the other driver did something wrong/illegal, the motorcyclist, looking for clout or justice, follows them and confronts them. They motorcyclist kicks the car, hits the mirror or knocks on the window while moving then wipes out. Then they come to me saying "but before i wiped out they did XYZ so its their fault." WRONG. You rode up to the vehicle and caused an accident - you're at fault. There is a break in the chain of causation from what they did to wrong you, and the accident.
Call the cops if they're being a dick, don't take it in your own hands.
2.) Buy GREAT insurance.
This is the most important. I have so many cases where my client breaks a bone, has road rash, lacerations, or needs surgery. Then we find out the person who caused the accident has no money, no insurance etc. These cases are worth a lot if the other person has insurance or assets. If the person who causes the accident has little or no insurance, no assets, or no money in the bank - I don't care if a jury awards a 10 million dollar verdict - good luck collecting it. Better luck getting blood from a stone.
The way to go around this is buy UM (Uninsured Motorists) or UIM (Underinsured Motorist) coverage. This way if the person who causes the accident does not have enough, you can get a settlement from your own insurance. I recommend a minimum of 250K, but the sky is the limit. that way you know you'll at least have something if the other person is penniless. I personally have 250K on my cars and 500K for my bikes.
Also - buy a lot of medpay. Medpay is an amount that will pay for your medical bills in the event of a crash whether or not you're at fault. 50K is a safe amount which should cover EMS, emergency surgery, and physical therapy before it goes to your health insurance. I suggest more if you can afford it since the is the US and the medical bills will hurt more than whatever accident you get into if you have shit insurance. You give the hospital your insurance claim number, they bill your insurance directly
3.) Get a camera
They're like 50$ on amazon (I suggest spending more but better to have a shit camera then no camera.
If you're not at fault, no testimony can overturn footage showing what happened. it protects you
If you are at fault: A lot of times people put these in their cars or bikes but forget to put the memory chip in (cough, wink, etc)
Ride safe out there
TLDR: Don't ride like an ass, don't cheap out on insurance, and buy a F***ing camera.
TLDR: Buy the watch. Literally no one looks at your wrist and thinks "wow this guy sized it wrong" or "its to (big small) for his wrist. odds are they don't even notice you're wearing a watch.
Every post on here is "does this look to big" or "Does this look to small." Just buy the thing you like. Someone who wears a diesel watch everyday is going to think its too small on you, someone who wears a Cartier Tank Mini is going to think its massive. when you buy your first watch its your reference point and its going to feel like it sticks out no matter what. Once you get used to it, larger watches are going to feel big, and smaller watches will feel to small. You will develop a preference FOR YOURSELF ON YOUR SUBJECTIVE PREFERENCES. I know some people that prefer not to get the watch sized and it flies up and down their wrist throughout the day. They think sizing it to fit right is uncomfortable. No one cares. it's there preference. People will enjoy their hobby how they please. (so stfu r/handwatch)
Most importantly, outside the watch community NO ONE CARES ABOUT YOUR WATCH.
Thats not a negative thing, its freeing. literally no one cares about your watch. I wear a submariner daily, no one has ever commented on it or event noticed it. No one comments on my speed master, my tudor, or any of my wacthes. I bought for myself and prefer it this way - they are for you personal enjoyment. When i first bought my sub, i first thought "this feels pretty big on my tiny ass wrists." Now Ive gotten used to it and i never think twice about the size. The woman who sold it to me also wears a submariner. she had tiny wrists and it still looked natural on her becuase i had no reference point - or most importantly - i dont care to judge someones taste*.*
You're going to get used to whatever you buy and wear so just buy the one you want. You'll get used to it and it become your reference point for all other watches. Figure out what YOU PREFER and swipe the card or steal it idc.
If you find yourself getting upset or commenting negatively on someone's watch - check yourself. Let people enjoy things. Even if its a Invicta or those MVMT watches, everyone starts somewhere. MY first watch was an invicta submariner knockoff. it was an automatic movement and i loved it, then it got me to learn more about watches and start a collection. Dont buy shit to fit in with internet strangers opinions.
End rant.
