share your esophageal hypersensitivity symptoms pls!

sorry for the multiple posts! i’m hoping off after this- just trying prepare for a GI appt next week i’ve been waiting for for months. i need to be prepared bc my GI rushes me and does not listen :( this is the second one ive tried.

i have been reading about how many of you actually had hypersensivity and am wondering if this is something i should bring up to my GI.

if you have it, could you please please explain 1) how you got it diagnosed , 2) what your symptoms were, 3) if anything helped?

thank you!

ssri or nortriptyline? did either help?

hi all :)

prefacing by saying i know you all are not doctors and can’t make this decision for me, but i just wanted some insight if any of you have been in the same spot.

i’ve posted a lot here, but the short of it is: last summer i got a bad flare up of acid issues one random weekend out of nowhere. it started off as the classic gnawing stomach pain, nausea, etc. and moved to throwing up daily, stomach pains, & losing 30 lbs. i was the sickest i’ve ever been.

i did all the things: HIDA scan (95% EF), labs (some elevated things that eventually came down), endoscopy (mini erosions, esophagitis). put on a PPI (omep)

following that initial bout of sickness, my health went downhill fast. chest pains/ pressure, heart palps, body tingling, bad headaches, dissociation/spacy/woozy feelings. tonssss more symptoms beyond this. like 20+ over time. id just wake up, go about my day & have constant symptoms.

i then did all the next step things: got a MRI, saw a new GI, saw a cardiologist, hematologist, eye dr, got more labs, etc. these were all recs from my GP/ i didn’t just chase down specialists.

everyday i felt worse & it made my health anxiety & regular anxiety spike worse than the ever been. this entire time (to me) it has 100% felt like i have symptoms which increases my anxiety (not the other way around).

however, now its been a bit over a year & while i’m doing a bit better then i was last summer im still not great & have constant symptoms. something has to change

i have met with a neurologist (due to the tingling and headaches and spaciness) who suggested amitryptline or nortriptyline. i also am in therapy and have thought about starting a ssri.

i just don’t know which to do. i’m feeling stuck.

i am extremely extremely sensitive to medicine. like VERY. have been my whole life. i feel like taking one of these will be a HUGE undertaking (for my body) and i just want some advice before figuring our which route to go on.

have either of these meds helped you? pls pls pls no horror stories! if they didn’t help you pls just nah girl 😂 and i’ll get the hint.

a quick flare up question! pls help :)

hi all,

been eating like a saint, but messed up on friday. immediate stomach burning right in the center of my stomach, burping, lack of appetite. but mostly the burning.

in my med journey i’ve currently weened down to 20 mg of omep every other day. wondering what i should do to get through this flare? should i take omep everyday for a week or so? or just add in famotidine?

im already eating plain & clean of course. what would you do? id love not to go back on omep everyday it gives me bad side effects.

i will def message my GI but she’s old school and has no portal so i have to call and leave a message before she gets back to me. she also is super short with me & brushes me off so i’m just wondering what others do.

thanks!

new & scared with 3 questions. could anyone please help?

hi! i am very new to this (34f w a ton of random sx since a GI issue last June- headaches since last fall) and have three questions if anyone could please help me.

  1. I suffer from the floaty/dpdr feelings with my headaches. i don’t get full on migraines very often yet (i’ve had like 3), but i do get constant daily headaches, with pain in the back of my head, and next tension. even if im not in pain sometimes ill get the dpdr. does anything help it go away? i’m currently in therapy for context.
  2. i am confused on if my headaches are true migraines or cervicogenic or vestibular or tension or a mix. i finally saw a nuero after being on a wait list for 8 months- but have all these questions still. how do you all parse it out? what should i ask her specifically? i don’t know where to start - PT, meds, working on my neck, ssris, migraine meds? i’m so overwhelmed
  3. i was recommended noritryptline, amitrypltine, or propananol. sorry i think spelled all those wrong. i am super super sensitive to meds, have a ton of non specific symptoms im already dealing with, and don’t want to suffer more quite frankly. did any of these meds help you? is there anything else i can do? i’m so desperate for relief from this all but don’t want to be in worse pain.

thank you!!
