Rainy day Advice for Trip This Weekend

Hello - I am going to be in the Journal Square area from Friday night through Tuesday morning this week visiting a friend. We were planning to go into NYC each day, since she just moved to the area.

We had a lot of outdoor walking plans… and the weather is not looking good. Also, I just am not very familiar with how accessible/ enjoyable a rainy day in NYC is.

I am assuming we likely want to skip Central Park now. We had planned to walk all of China Town/ Nolita/ little Italy area. And also planned to walk Brooklyn bridge and Dumbo. We’re also thinking about taking the Roosevelt tram and walking that island. I feel like a lot of these plans are a no go now and I am not sure what to replace them with.

Also, my one friend would really like to see the Statue of Liberty - any advice for this with the rain? Were originally planning on stated island ferry. Would buying the liberty island ticket be more or less worth it now with the rain?

Any suggestions? And any large areas/ markets/ fun ideas for things to explore in NYC or nearby that are good for a long rainy weekend?

Any and all help really appreciated! For a little context, we have all been to NYC at least one time before so we are less concerned with checking off all the touristy boxes, but still enjoy touristy stuff.

Trip advice / critique

A close friend of mine just moved to journal square this week and we are visiting next week. We have all been to NY before but feel like there is still so much to see and I’m working up a loose itinerary.
Some things to note, were there late Friday night - Tuesday morning on Memorial Day weekend. We have all done time square and kinda want to avoid that area, but are hoping to do China town and little Italy. My one friend really wants to see the Statue of Liberty and we want to explore some of central park . Currently I’ve planned two loose days, we might drop some evening activities for a broadway show if we can get cheap tickets. We also might use our other free day to do Ellis island rather than state island ferry but are undecided.
Any trip critiques, advise, quirky must see things in the areas we will be in or must add ideas for the trip are very much appreciated!

Day 1:
\- Grab coffee and a bagel- start in central park near 72nd street (see lake, strawberry fields, the mall + Bethesda terrace. Anything else?)
\- exit part at 59th street and take subway to China town
\- explore China town and little Italy (get pork buns and soup dumplings)
\- possibly Soho area then walk to seaport district
\- go to Fulton station to catch subway to 59th and catch Roosevelt tram
\- explore Roosevelt island (evening walk along water - how is this late evening not sure when we will make it here)
\- ride tram back and head home

Day 2:
\- arrive at WTC and optionally check out occulus or 9/11 memorial before walking to Whitehall terminal
\- ride Staten Island ferry round trip
\- walk across brookly bridge to DUMBO
\- explore dumbo, see roof at timeout market and grab lunch
\- board f train to Coney Island
\- hang out at Coney Island till sunset

We have one other full day we are leaving free currently so we have room to move things around. We could do Ellis island, museums, walk high line, visit the big mall in NJ, etc. I’d love to find cheap tickets to a broadway or comedy show one night. Food recommendations in these areas greatly appreciated. Would love some thoughts!

Looking for some help and advice with cleaning the used washer whirlpool ultimate care 2 I just bought.

I did a surface level wipe down, cleaned everything I could see and around the edge of the drum. I removed the top half of the agitator and the fabric softener drain to clean that as well. Then, we hooked up the dryer and set it up to drain into the sink.

I put a cleaning pod in it and ran a hot cycle. When it started draining into the sink, a large amount of black gunk poured out of the drain and it smelled very musty. I finished the cleaning cycle, fully wiped out the inside of the drum again, and put another cleaning pod and ran it again. I opened the lid during the cycle, and the water was again full of black dirt specks all through it.

Now, I had just finished the second cycle and am going to clean it again. This is the first dryer I have ever bought, and am new to owning appliances so I am not sure the best ways to clean and proceed. I have bleach I can run but have never used bleach in a washer before transparently and am not sure how much to do.

Should I run a bleach cycle? Should I do another cleaning cycle and let it soak? Is there a filter I need to clean somewhere and how should I do that? Do I need to take the bolt out to remove the full agitator and clean it or is the top half that pops off good?

Really lost here and just want it to feel clean. Any help greatly appreciated!!

Hello, I am looking for some advice / insight into parking for Amtrak. I have never taken the train before and neither has my friend, but we are planning to drive to Elizabethtown and park there for three nights while we take the train into NYC.

How is the parking there? Is it free or paid, and do they ever run out? Is overnight a specific lot? Is this an okay area? Also if anyone has any advice to share for someone who has never rode with Amtrak before please let me know.

Thank you!
