42 000km maintenance
Hello good people !
Post for those who like to DIY their bike maintenance:
I've decided to do the 42 000km maintennce myself on my 2021 MT07 that I bought new in August 2023.
It's time for the valve clearance and I've printed the service manual. I've been studying the procedure, printing reference pages, ordering tools and listing the things I can do together (coolant, fuel line check, spark plug, valve clearance) so I don't reinstall the part that need to be removed for next procedure, etc ...
Basically going to do/check everything on the maintenance list including valve clearance, spark plugs, air filter, engine oil/filtre, throttle synchronisation, coolant, brake fluid, brake pads, ...
Any tips on doing valve clearance especially ? Did you order a box of 25 shims or ordered the one you needed ? I have a mechanic friend who said he would grind the shim until it's at the right size.
Also, I'm planning on doing it on a semi covered parking (under my building) near a forest and worried some leaf/debri/bug could fly around, I got a canopy but idk if it's worth the hassle.
How long did you take to do your own valve clearance the first time ?
What about brake pads, the OEM are quite pricy, did you go OEM or after-market ?
Thanks !
