I was thinking about movie trilogies recently. Do you guys think that the spider-verse trilogy has the potential to become the greatest animated movie trilogy ever? Or even greatest movie trilogy in general?

I know it is very subjective obviously but I would love to hear ur guys thoughts. In my personal opinion, if BTSV sticks the landing, then it will definitely be my fav movie trilogy all time (and Ive seen all the top picks like LOTR and star wars, etc).

Hey guys, I was wondering what everybody on here thinks about Miles and Gwen in the spider verse movies, and whether you guys think they will end up together. Personally, I think they almost certainly will for a large number of reasons, but if anyone has any counter arguments please say so.

1. I’m going to quickly state the obvious, they both DEFINITELY have feelings for each other. We know that Miles has had a crush on Gwen since the first movie, but some people don’t think Gwen reciprocates these feelings, even though she definitely does, and might be even more down bad for Miles than he is for her. Evidence: Gwen is clearly jealous when Miles is talking to spider byte and pulls him away from her, she explains to him why she is scared to be together because she thinks she will die if they fall in love, gets really worried when she thinks she was crushed in Mumbattan, cries when he tells her she shouldn’t have come to see him, and assembles an entire spider team to take on Miguel and save Miles. These are the things which weren’t already mentioned in the “Gwen down bad Stacy” photo that I attached.
2. Even the other characters ship Miles and Gwen: Hobie calls Gwen “Gwendy” and calls Miles “Peter Pan.” Spider man India comments on the romantic tension. Peter B Parker smiles from the back of the bus while Miles talks to Gwen. Rio says he “lights up around her” and lets Miles go after Gwen when she leaves. Uncle Aaron teaches him the shoulder touch.
3. Smaller point but just from looking at the scenes it is obvious the movie is setting these 2 up. That upside down kiss scene, the Williamsburg bank building scene, and I personally think the might have kissed at Miles’ party if Rio hadn’t suddenly shown up at that moment.
4. Their connection: Chris Miller states they are “kindred spirits” and the movies clearly show this. Gwen is attracted to Miles in ITSV before she even knows who he is and when he doesn’t even have spider powers. She is also the only spider person who gets sent back a week so that she can meet miles. And in ATSV she can spider sense when Miles is in another dimension (and yes she SENSES this and doesn’t just figure it out, you can see her spider sense go off) and also when he gets hurt by prowler Miles (so that proves she is connected to him and didn’t just figure out logically he was in the wrong dimension). And also, this part is very very speculative but I think that maybe their connection is so powerful that their universes are kind of coming together somehow, I saw this theory somewhere else but basically in that scene that is framed like an upside down kiss, you can see an infinity sign behind them, but what if instead of being an infinity sign it was showing their 2 worlds merging or smth like that, idk just a theory but I thought it was interesting. The people in charge wouldn’t have placed them in front of an infinity sign for no reason, it has to mean something.
5. The message of the movie: The entire message of the movie is that Miles is fighting against the canon in order to live life his way instead of a predetermined fate, the message of “bake 2 cakes” and “I can do both” is central to ATSV and will be to BTSV as well. Everyone keeps telling him that things are the way they are, his father has to die, he is an anomaly, these canon events NEED to happen, and that Gwen Stacy dies if she falls for spider man. If BTSV wants to solidify the message from ATSV (if it doesn’t then that would be pretty crazy and would show that it is impossible to defy the odds, which is contrary to how superhero stories normally go), it will show Miles defying the canon and proving that he can live his own life, which would involve him saving his dad, not letting his universe die, and importantly, falling in love with Gwen without her dying tragically.
6. The songs: In the ATSV soundtrack there are 2 main songs in my opinion, Annihilate and Calling. Annihilate is written from the perspective of Miles, talking about how he feels betrayed and everything, whereas Calling is written from the perspective of Gwen. The lyrics of Calling clearly indicate Gwen’s feelings for miles, a few examples are: “just to save you I’d give all of me” “When I ran into you I didn’t plan on falling in love” “I’m not materialistic, but I got a thing for you.” All these lines show how Gwen loves Miles and would give anything for him
7. The producers comments and original plans for ITSV: producer Amy Pascal said during an interview that ATSV is a “love story between Gwen and Miles” and Phil Lord has said that Gwen and Miles are in love with each other showing that the people in charge of the movies have intentionally been writing a romance, and considering that Lord and Miller say that BTSV is going to be a satisfying conclusion to the trilogy, it would make sense for them to conclude the main relationship of the movies. Also in ITSV the original plan was to have Miles and Gwen kiss at the end, but they removed it because they felt it would be too rushed and their relationship was too underdeveloped. So there were definitely plans to have Miles and Gwen end up together, which wouldn’t really work with just 1 movies, and it didn’t happen in across, so I think it will happen in beyond.
8. “He should be with Spider byte.” I can see why some people would feel this way after ATSV, considering Gwen betrayed him after being his friend for so long and spider byte was willing to help a stranger she had barely even interacted with, but I highly doubt that they will have any sort of romantic connection in BTSV at all, like I highly highly doubt it. Spider byte is just way too underdeveloped as a character and we have spent 2 entire movies with Gwen as the main love interest it just wouldn’t make sense to pivot now.

I know several of my arguments are from outside the actual spider verse movies, like related media and producers comments, but I wanted to give all the evidence I could. It just seems clear that this relationship is what the movies have been building towards, and it wouldn’t make sense for it not to go anywhere. Anyway these are all the reasons that I believe Miles and Gwen will almost certainly end up together and have a kissing scene at the conclusion of BTSV. I would love to hear what you guys think about this. 

PS: also I didn’t really mention but Gwen definitely has to do a lot before Miles can forgive her for that terrible betrayal, maybe she saves his parents or smth and then confesses her feelings or idk I’m not a writer xd.
