Ducks as pets - recommendations

Planning on getting ducks in the spring. These are to be family pets. I have a 2 and 5 year old. I dont care about eggs really I am looking for sociable, cuddly pets (I know they are birds I won't it against them if they aren't 😉). Im done having kids and we have agreed on no more indoor pets in the foreseeable future. I can have up to 4 (probably 6 max depending on how we build the coop). For my circumstances what kind would you recommend and why? I love the idea of pekins based on some research but does their size/mess really make that much difference and would it make a difference with capacity? Also, I'm in the midwest. TIA 😊

Talk me out of getting a GCC

I am looking to get a new bird and am seriously thinking about a GCC. I had a female cockatiel in the past and loved her dearly but she just wasnt enough "bird" for me. I think I would feel differently about a male which is my next choice due to their talking/whistling ability and being more outgoing. I would get a hand-raised male baby because I couldn't bear to lose a bird to egg binding. I'd love your thoughts. The good and the bad. Those of you who got yours as babies, are they cuddly? Are they fun? If you had to talk me out of it, how would you do it? If you have them, post your videoes of them at their loudest. Thanks in advance 😉

Should I get a quaker?

I have bird experience and know that birds are individuals. I want a bird that could be affectionate and talk. Also considering a GCC and its a tough call, having a hard time. I am getting a sense that a GCC may be more likely to "cuddle" if raising from a baby which would be great if im being honest but I have only had cockatiels and something is missing. I want my forever bird to be engaging for life and I think talking is a big pro of quakers.

Has anyone had a either of these (from babies not rehomed/pet store) and regretted it or rehomed them?

Does anyone have a quaker they have raised from a baby that DOES NOT talk?

Give it to me straight!

GCC male vs female

Hoping to get some insight and opinions on any experiences you guys may have with male vs female behavior traits before looking into getting a GCC, mostly any differences in cuddliness versus talking abilities. I have experience with birds and know that each is an individual and that GCCs aren't big "talkers" but before I chose my next lifetime companion I'd like to get as much feedback as possible!
