Hi, I am starting in Amgen in a few weeks in QC What is the site like, and do you have access to the site facilities gym canteen etc as a contractor?

Hi,

I’m looking for some advice on moving into a Field Service Engineer role.

I have around five years of experience working in pharmaceutical QC, with a strong focus on HPLC troubleshooting, non-routine analysis and resolving instrument-related issues. I’ve worked extensively with Agilent 1100, 1200, 1260 and 1290 systems, including MWD, VWD, DAD, RID and fluorescence detectors.

I’m now looking to move away from a purely analytical QC role and into field service, as the instrumentation and troubleshooting side of my work has always been what I’ve enjoyed most.

I’m also considering completing an Agilent troubleshooting and maintenance course to build more hands-on maintenance experience and strengthen my technical background.

From your experience, what would be the best way for someone with my background to make that transition? Are there any particular courses, skills or areas of hands-on experience you would recommend focusing on?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Was anyone else on the 21:30 Citylink 707 on 7 August?
A couple were on the bus, and the woman appeared to be extremely intoxicated and became violent towards the man she was with. She was shouting, throwing objects around the bus, and creating a really frightening atmosphere for everyone on board.
During one of her outbursts, an object struck my girlfriend in the head. Thankfully she wasn’t seriously injured, but it was still a very upsetting experience.
Because of the incident, the bus had to make a significant diversion, resulting in a lengthy delay.
The driver told us that the Gardaí had been called, but they never attended while we were there, and the journey eventually continued.
I’ve submitted a formal complaint to Citylink, but I’m wondering if anyone else was on the bus that night or has had a similar experience. It was easily one of the worst journeys I’ve ever had.

I’ve been traveling for the past number of months, and yes, snoring in hostels is a thing — and I’m fine with it the majority of the time. But man, this guy… this guy would wake the dead. I had to leave the hostel at 2 a.m. and come back with earplugs just to sleep. Then the guy wakes up the whole dorm packing his bags at 6 in the morning.

What I’m trying to say is: if you snore badly, please give people a heads-up.
