Moving to Little Italy in October — which buildings are actually good to live in?

Relocating from Spain with my wife for work (2-3 years) and looking at apartments in Little Italy / nearby downtown.

We’ve seen a bunch of buildings online — Current, Allegro Towers, Instrata, Acqua Vista, Simone, Vici — but reviews and websites only tell you so much. For people who actually live (or lived) in the neighborhood:

1. Which buildings would you recommend or avoid, and why? Management/maintenance horror stories welcome

2. How’s airplane noise in different parts of the neighborhood, honestly? Does it actually bother you day to day?

3. Anything you only learn after living there — parking situation, street vibe at night, hidden fees, which blocks are better?

Any real-world input appreciated. Thanks!

Spanish couple moving to San Diego for 2-3 years — worth it?

Spanish couple, late 20s. I'm getting transferred to SD for 2-3 years. My partner will come and look for entry-level pharma/biotech work (pharmacist + master in pharma industry + 1y consulting experience in Spain).

We have a good life in Madrid (jobs, family, friends), so this is a real decision.

3 questions:

  1. What do people NOT tell you about living in SD?

  2. Realistic for her profile (no PhD) to find a decent pharma/biotech role in 3-4 months?

  3. Pacific Beach, La Jolla, or Little Italy — which would you pick for a couple like us?

Thanks!
