I work at a freight brokerage that has a project with 100 truckloads moving from MX to US. We have truckers that can move material but customer would like us to manage the customs brokerage piece too. My brokerage has not set up customs clearance for a customer before. The opportunity is big enough where we might.

I was wondering how tough it is to take on the customs clearance portion if we hire a customs brokerage company to help us? Anything I need to be prepared for?

Which customs brokers are best for this set up?

I have been in the industry for about 8 years and I’ve always judged people with unrealistic bids and contracts. Recently, I got a large shipper include me in a bid and asking for FTL, LTL, Hotshot and Heavy Haul rates to be held up to the term of 3 years upon bid submission. That seems way too long for rates to be realistically contracted for. Have you seen this before? What’s your play?
