Remove my running boards?

This mounting area is failing. What may be my solution? Thinking of just removing my running boards and letting people struggle to get in. I don't know if repairing it is feasible. I don't know if removing it is either, if the bolts are really stuck. I've only had the truck a year, and it is a 2010. It's been heavily undercoated with wool wax.
