Scratch-built Battlewagon - primed

One of my first ever builds, that has been sitting in my pile of shame for a while, until i gained the confidence to go back and fix some of my rookie errors. There's still some bits I'm not 100% happy with (namely the weapons are all cartoonishly too big) but overall I think it turned out ok.

The concept was to make a battlewagon the Ghaz could (theoretically) fit inside, hence the chonky doors and big cab section.

The main weapon is magnetised, with all the options available (but only the kannon finished and ready, more rookie errors to fix on the kill-kannon and zzap-gun.) Life hack for people building on a tight budget - toys with speakers can be ripped apart and the speaker has a fairly strong magnet buried inside. The other weapons will be glued eventually but are separate for now for ease of painting.

Both my Trukks, primed and ready for paint

My two Trukk toy-bashes ( here and here ) primed up and ready for paint. These will be the first models I'm painting so any tips and tricks would be appreciated, Thinking I'll use Scratch Bashing's "The Method TM" because the individual steps seem very achievable for a rookie painter, even if they're tedious.

Likewise, any thoughts on colour scheme would be appreciated, the plan is a metallic base, and then painting most of the panels black, while picking out individual panels in yellow, hazard stripes and checkerboards. then grime and rust washes. Currently also deciding if i want to do some panels in teal/cyan or if that will be too much. Any and all advice really appreciated because once I commit to a paint scheme there's no going back.

Trukky Mc Orkface (WIP)

Got inspired by the new Trukk rules and some recently acquired bits, decided to make another trukk. Last panel is my original trukk build, now primed.

Trukky Mc orkface id almost ready for primer. Still need to sort out the bald spot on the top & back of the cab and then it's just rivets, gap filling and surface texture.

Moving soon and will have to leave my bits collection in storage for a while so trying to finish and prime this guy and a couple of others from my pile of shame in the hope that not being able to build anything new will motivate me to actually paint something.

Orky scrapyard crane (WIP).

I'm eventually making an whole table of orky fortified scrapyard terrain. I was working on wall sections with walkways en masse, but I got sidetracked and I knew I would eventually want a crane, and the pieces were speaking to me so I went ahead and made it lol. I'm gonna add some more random scrap pieces to the boom and the mast but its mostly there now.

Cheap way to get Ork Drivers and vehicle crews? (proxies ok)

My primary interest in the hobby is toy-bashing/upcycling junk for my scratch builds, but there's only so many vehicles I can make with closed cabs and no visible Orks. (either that or incorporate that my orks are really shy into my lore lol.) I also don't have a 3D printer (or funds to get one. I found this guy by zinge industries but even at £3 each (+£3.50 shipping) theyre more expensive than I'd normally spend on a whole vehicle and I'm on a really tight budget, I'm also not 100% inspired by the pose.

If anyone knows a decent method / source to get my hands on some (uk based, notts/derby) that'd be really helpful . Thanks in advance <3.

Scratch-built/toy-bashed trukk

I got sidetracked from working on my stompa, and the cab from a cement truck transformers toy (This one) kept eyeing me from my bits box.

The cab is built normal (behind all the extra armour) but I completely cut and reshaped the chassis to fit the trukk dimensions, before building the truckbed.

Beside's from the transformers toy, The rest is mostly toy parts, printer parts and jewelry chain. the hubcaps on the wheels are blades from a paper-shredder, and washers. the curved panels holding up the wreckin' ball are PVC drainpipe - a great crafting material that's cheap and easy to work with

I'm particularly happy with how the the Wreckin' ball turned out, as well as the the spiked bumper (as proxy for the spiked wheels) and the exposed fuel tank (made from a plumbing fitting.) Less happy with the exhaust pipes/smokestacks (which look kinda janky) and the rear end (which I'm probably going to have another look at with fresh eyes at some point. Overall very happy with how it turned out.

Hopefully at some point I'll stop procrastinating and finish something lol.

More photos in the comments.

Have now built everything for my junk stompa. Newly added is the head, the glyph on the chest representing my custom clan The Zzap Ratz and the structural reinforcement on the smokestacks. For the head I went for a single, wide open window, because in general I'm trying to give my builds a construction equipment aesthetic. I might add mesh to the inside of the window (thoughts appreciated). I've also paneled up the bottom (unphotographed.) I don't even know how I'd start to get a photo of that, its pretty boring anyway.

Next is gap filling, and riveting the whole thing - if anyone has some advice about what what products to use and how to do for either of those steps I'm fully out of my depth - I have acrylic modelling paste for gap-filling and nail beads and thin CA glue for rivets but have heard differing opinions on if these are good options

Got the shell of my Stompa together and added the weapon arms. Finally got all the Dakka attached together in one place. Feet are not attached yet because the bottom is still bare cardboard and I've left the front panel detached (although I have it propped up in place for some of the photos) because I think I'm gonna need to glue some rocks in there for balance to get the feet in the pose I like. Paneling didn't take as long as I expected, I was most using the hull from a action figure navy boat (soldier force) and it was very forgiving - flexible enough to be bent to the right shape but strong enough to not warp. Mostly used that boat, some printer plastic and some PVC pipe for this part + some other random plastic panels here and there for variation in surface and detail.

Next, I have to panel the bottom and finalise where I want the feet, which will probably involve ballast as mentioned above, then I can attach the front. I think I'm gonna do the head last - I'm still deciding between replicating the official model's style with a full face and teeth and horns etc, or doing something a bit more industrial like construction equipment. Probably gonna end up finding a balance somewhere in-between, I'm definitely gonna add some teeth; wouldn't be a stompa without them.

PS, excuse the bad photography, Sorry.
