Shoutout to the pax’s who make this job better 💜

Picked up a girl getting off work at Wendy’s last night. She got in with a big bag of food and immediately offered me a sugar cookie and a party pack of nuggets.

She said: “If you’re my driver after work, you will always get free food.”

I also have a regular I pick up at least 2 or 3 times a week and she always stops at the gas station. She offers to get me something to eat and drink everytime, and still tips me on top.

Acts of kindness like this remind me there are still some genuinely good folks out there. 💜

Over 400+ rides and this is the first complaint I’ve had about my music

I play the same throwback ’90s/‘00s chill playlist every time I drive now because I’ve gotten so many compliments on that particular playlist. I also make sure to play it at a respectable volume.

The other day, I also had a pax say to me “I’m so glad you play music. It’s so weird to me when drivers are okay with just sitting in silence.” I wholeheartedly agree.

Just goes to show… you really can’t please everybody.

I’ve never lost attraction to someone so fast in my life

🍽️ Dinner: Mac & cheese with shrimp, plus a fried chicken breast on top.

I'm currently in my single era and I’m loving it. I'm not looking for a relationship anytime soon, but a girl does have needs.

So I randomly decided to reach back out to an old FWB after not talking for about 4 or 5 years. (thanks a lot Mercury retrograde)

For context, I'm F26, their M27. Back in the day, he was one of the first people I was truly intimate with and he honestly taught me a lot about myself and what I liked in sex. We’ve always had great sex, so I hit him up with that one goal in mind.

So we make a plan to meet and I come to find that he still lives with his parents. Initially this didn’t bother me because in this day and time I get it.

But then he opened his mouth and started talking about how he wants things to change in his life but he’s financially irresponsible. I asked where his money goes, and with no hesitation he said games and food. His car broke down and he was supposedly in the midst of trying to get that fixed, but I could sense the lack of urgency.

Outside of that, he didn’t have any solid plans or any ambition. Just existing and mooching off his parents.

By the end of our conversation, my vagina had packed her bags and gone home. All the attraction I had towards him went straight out the window.

The best part of this story is that younger me would’ve absolutely ignored every single red flag and jumped his bones. But present day me was sitting there thinking: “Wow… you sure are a bum.”

I don't expect someone my age to have everything figured out, goodness knows I don’t. But I do expect them to at least be trying. There's a huge difference between struggling and being comfortable staying exactly where you are.

I left without having sex, drove home, and honestly just felt proud of myself because in that moment I realized I had grown.

I am so very thankful for the wisdom that comes with time.

EDIT: Thank you to the MODS for locking the thread before it got any messier. I really appreciate y’all. I genuinely did not expect so many people to be upset over MY standards and who I choose to give my vagina to. Who knew bums had such a dedicated fan base?

Women drivers - What kind of protection do you have with you?

I carry an alarm, pepper spray, and a switchblade, but I know that if anyone was to pull a gun on me, a knife ain’t gonna cut it.

I have entertained the idea of getting a compact gun just in case.

I plan on going to the shooting range this week just to get a feel for it.

Do any of you ladies carry when you’re doing rideshare? And if so, what would you recommend to a beginner?

My Virgo slipped out

I drive Lyft and today I asked one of my passengers what his zodiac sign was.

He wouldn’t tell me. We kept talking and a little later I asked again. He still wouldn't tell me and said he wasn't going to tell me until the end of the ride. He also said, “Good things don't come easy, right?”

To which I replied, "No, some good things do come easy. That’s just something people tell themselves when they're going through it, to make themselves feel better about the fact that they’re going through it."

He laughed and goes, “Well, with that logic... you've gotta be a Virgo. That was a very Virgotypical answer.”

I thought that was absolutely hilarious. It’s that obvious huh? 🥴

EDIT: He was an Aries

EDIT AGAIN: I’m leaving this up, exactly the way I wrote it. If you can’t laugh at what was very much a fun and innocent conversation then that says a lot about you. He favorited me as a driver and tipped me on top. He obviously didn’t mind.

Networking is one of the most underrated parts of doing ride share

Since I started driving for Lyft, I have met so many interesting people.

I've gotten great restaurant recommendations, music recommendations, life advice, and even made a couple of friends. I've also given some advice and pointed people towards helpful connections.

I also run a business on the side, so when it comes up in conversation, it’s a great opportunity to hand someone my business card.

Tonight, I just had one of my favorite experiences. I met 2 girls around my age. We clicked immediately and they invited me to the rave they were headed to. I was just getting ready to end my shift, so I took it as a sign and went. It was my first rave and let me tell you… I had a great time! 😌

Moral of the story: network, network, network! You never know what type of valuable connection you can make!

ESA owners are on my shit list

I have pet rides turned off, but after 300+ rides, I finally had my first pax try to get into my car with a dog and then tell me it’s an ESA.

When I questioned it, he started telling me about how another driver supposedly got deactivated last week for refusing to take his animal. I ended up taking him because it was only a 5 minute ride, but the whole interaction irritated me.

What I don’t understand is this: if you’ve already had problems with drivers not wanting your animal in their car, why not just order a Pet ride and avoid the drama altogether?

His response was, “I have an ESA. I shouldn’t have to pay extra.”

Okay and? There are a lot of things people shouldn’t have to pay extra for, but welcome to reality. If paying a couple extra dollars guarantees a driver who already knows and accepts that you’re bringing an animal, why keep creating the same conflict over and over?

I know now I could’ve just canceled once I pulled up and realized he had an animal, but I didn’t see the dog until it was too late. That’s alright. Fool me once, shame on you. Won’t happen again. I will cancel next time.

If you can’t afford an extra few dollars for your ride, you can’t afford your stinky animal.

For my full-time Lyft drivers (40+ hrs/week) ~ How many miles are you putting on your car weekly?

I've only been doing Lyft for about 2 months and I've already put roughly an extra 5000 miles on my car.

It got me wondering what everyone else's numbers look like.

How many miles do you typically put on your car per week driving for Lyft? And since you started driving, about how many total miles?

Turned a $52 ride into $98

I accepted a ride that was originally paying $52. During the trip, the pax changed the drop off, which added some extra miles and bumped the pay to $68.

The pax was pretty drunk and for a good part of the ride, he was just rambling about how his sister has daddy issues. I’m not gonna lie, it was pretty entertaining, but eventually he fell asleep.

When we got to his drop off, I reminded him to make sure he had everything before getting out, and he said he supposedly did.

About 20 minutes later, I was at a Wawa getting gas and taking a break when I heard a phone that wasn’t mine ringing in the car. It was of course, his phone.

Luckily I was only about 10 minutes away. I returned the phone, claimed the $20 lost item fee, and he tipped me another $5 cash on top of it, bumping me to $98 for this ride.

After that, I logged off and went home. A win is a win, and sometimes you just gotta quit while you’re ahead.

What do you guys do for food when you’re driving all day? 🍔🌭

I live way out in the boonies, so it takes me about 35–40 minutes just to get to the areas where I actually want to drive. Once I’m out there, going home to eat really isn’t an option until I’m ready to call it a day.

I’ve thought about packing a cooler, but I’m kind of on the fence about it.

I try to keep my trunk as empty as possible. And every now and then I get 4 passengers, and I already have my purse and giant water bottle up front, so adding a cooler just means having to constantly move stuff around whenever I need that extra seat.

Do you guys pack food? Stop somewhere and buy lunch? Live off gas station snacks?

If you do bring a cooler, what do you usually pack that holds up well in the car all day?

What do you guys play for music while driving?

I’ve been curious what other drivers do when it comes to music.

Personally, I just play my own music. It’s mostly chill stuff, nothing super loud or controversial, and honestly I’ve gotten a lot of compliments from riders about it. I’ve had quite a few people ask what song is playing or tell me they like the vibe.

Do you guys play your own playlists, use a generic background playlist, stick to the radio, or just drive in silence?

And if you have a killer Spotify playlist, don’t be afraid to share the link! I’m always looking for new music. (:

Georgia cops made me stomp my weed out in a hotel parking lot at 2 a.m.

So I just got back from a road trip to New Orleans, I’m from Virginia (where weed is legal). On my drive back I stopped at a hotel in Norcross, Georgia around 2 a.m. after driving for 9 hours.

I checked into my room, dropped my suitcase off, then went to my car to smoke before bed. While I’m out there, there’s this couple nearby having a loud ass argument, and shortly after that a cop pulls into the parking lot. I just thought he was here for them, so I didn’t really think much of it.

Well a second cop pulls in not too long after that and they both do a round around the building. Next thing I know, one cop car pulls up behind my car with lights on while another cop is at my window shining a flashlight in my face. When I tell y’all my heart dropped to my ass. And as I roll the window down, smoke pours out like I was in one of those damn stoner movies.

One of the cops starts telling me I can’t “loiter” in my car even though I literally had only been sitting in it for about 10-15 minutes. But apparently Norcross has some anti-loitering thing because of drug trafficking issues. But where I’m from, people sit in their car at all hours of the day and night, and no one bothers them, so again I didn’t think too much of it.

Then he of course proceeds to say he smells weed and asks to search my car. I said yes because at that point there was no point denying anything and in GA smell is enough cause for them to search. I told him there is weed and paraphernalia in there and he says “Honestly we don’t really care about weed, we’re looking for harder stuff.”

Next thing I know, I’m now surrounded by THREE cops like I’m freaking Pablo Escobar, instead of a young girl who’s just tired from a road trip.

They then start telling me that in Georgia, the weed pens alone could be felonies, plus the scale, and the other paraphernalia.

But then the “cool cop” says to me “Since you were cooperative, we’re not taking you to jail.” And instead of confiscating everything, they broke the weed pens and made me dump my bud out onto the concrete and stomp on it while they watched.

At the very end one of the cops asked if I had any questions and I was just like “No, I just wanna go to sleep.” The cop says “Alright understandable, go destress.” Then one of the other cops laughed and goes “How’s she supposed to destress? You just took all her weed.”

Like come on dude… you guys just TRAUMATIZED me… way too soon. 😔

BUT HERE’S THE REALLY INTERESTING PART THOUGH.

The next morning I realized the “cool cop” had somehow “missed” one of my weed pens in my center console. (I had a total of 4 and they took 2 of them.) Then I checked my purse, which had been in the backseat nowhere near my weed stuff, and somehow my grinder had magically ended up inside it with weed still in it. My other weed pen was also still sitting in the side pocket. I’m still shook. I guess he really was the cool cop?

TL;DR: I drove from Virginia into Georgia. Got a hotel at 2 am and went to go smoke in my car before bed. Ended up being surrounded by 3 cops, got told my weed pens/paraphernalia could be felonies in GA. But they told me they weren’t worried about weed, mostly the harder stuff. So instead of confiscating my stuff, they broke the weed pens and just had me stomp my bud out on the ground, and I got to keep my other stuff.
