Don't Bottom Out Your Lucid Air

As I write this, my Air has been at Lucid Service for a few days short of one month as I not-so-patiently wait for them to finally replace the rear drive unit and half-shaft after a scary drive system failure minutes after exiting the freeway. But, that's just to give you a sense of perspective for the following...

A couple of days ago, the Lucid Service Advisor called me and asked if I had seen his email and texts re "my car". I explained that the last communication from him had been almost 2 weeks ago. He then proceeded to tell me that he had sent me pictures of the car because "the tech had determined that the car had bottomed out" and that it caused a coolant leak that then resulted in the drive unit failing. I responded that I had never bottomed out the car.

He then said, "I want to suggest that you talk to your insurance company because the repair will cost $35,000 !!!" After picking myself up off the floor, he asked, "am I talking to 'Richard'?" I said, no this is ____. He then said he was "Sorry", and that he had gotten me mixed up with another customer. Unbelievable!!!

Moral of the story.... be careful not to bottom out your Air and avoid dealing with Lucid Service whenever possible.

Struggling with Transition from AirCurve 10 ASV to AirCurve 11 ASV

After 5 years with the AirCurve 10 ASV for my central sleep apnea, my insurance company offered to provide me with a new machine. I picked up the new AirCurve 11 ASV yesterday with settings identical to the 10 and used it last night for the first time.

I can't put my finger on what was different, but the entire experience felt considerably different from the 10. I awoke in the middle of the night and couldn't get back to sleep, so finally got up and set the 10 back up and finished the night with it.

Has anyone else had a similar experience? I'm interested in how you handled it. My pulmonologist told me that some of his patients returned the 11, and went back to the 10. I'm not to that point yet, but if I have trouble with the adjustment for another couple of nights, I will seriously consider going back to the older, but more familiar tech of the AirCurve 10 ASV.

Air Pure Drive System Failure

Lucky me! According to the online information, there were about 3700 Pure models built that are at risk in the recall campaign, and around 230 experienced drive system failures with resulting loss of power. Two days before I was due to take mine in for the recall warranty work, I experienced the failure, coupled with a rumbling/grinding sound coming from the rear axel area. Concurrently, I lost all drive power while on a busy street -- just minutes after exiting a freeway during the morning rush hour. Fortunately, I was able to coast to a safe side street, but the incident could have been catastrophic.

My 2025 Pure was towed to the nearest Lucid Service Center where it has been for over two weeks. Lucid wasn't even able to assess the problem for about 10 days, and I'm now told that they are awaiting parts which they expect in another week. Assuming they install them correctly upon receipt, I'm looking at having the car out of service for close to a month.

This comes on top of having had numerous infotainment system issues when the car was first leased including the inability to make or receive calls through the native Lucid system, as well as through CarPlay which wasn't functioning correctly, either. Along with other infotainment issues, this kept my car at Lucid Service for close to a month during my first few months with the vehicle.

Up until this latest incident, I've been a steadfast supporter of Lucid and I truly love the driving experience, not to mention its sleek looks that still turn heads. Unfortunately, I'm feeling a bit nervous now and am considering invoking the Lemon Law to return the vehicle. I hate to go down that road since I know it would be time-consuming and contentious, but even my wife is questioning whether the car will be reliable enough to take on an upcoming vacation to visit family about 500 miles away.

I know that most Lucid owners/lessees have not had experiences like mine, so maybe I truly have a "Lemon".

Taking My New X100vi Out for Some Exercise...

I finally got my hands on a new X100vi, primarily for street and travel photography, but took it along today for a beautiful day in San Francisco to explore its capabilities... focus, dynamic range, optical clarity, color rendition, etc... Wow! I'm very impressed and feeling grateful to have such a small, highly capable camera for street and travel work.

These images received quick edits in Lightroom after being shot as Raw files. I used the standard Adobe Color profile rather than working from one of the Fujifilm emulation profiles.

Quick Release Camera Strap w/ Optional Wrist Strap

I finally landed a new X100vi for street and travel photography and I'm trying to figure out the optimum retention setup. I like carrying my cameras cross-bodied with the ability to raise the camera quickly to shoot, and sometimes I prefer a simple wrist strap. The ability to install a small cleat at the camera's tripod screw to secure one end of the camera strap is a plus since the camera will be in an ideal position to grab and shoot from a cross-body position.

My initial research seems to have narrowed the options down to either the Peak Design Leash or PGYTech strap system. Has anyone had experience with either with their X100vi? Does their cleat work without blocking access to the battery door? There have been some online comments about their plastic quick release pieces potentially scratching the camera. Is this really an issue with these systems? Finally, am I missing any other quick release systems that should be considered?

Thanks to all of you who have been down this same road and can share your experiences!

Drive System Failure After 2.9.2

I just wasted almost 4 hrs of my morning following a Drive System Failure and concurrent loss of all drive power while in the middle of heavy city traffic. Fortunately, I was able to signal and coast to a reasonably safe area.

I have a ‘25 Lucid Air Pure which was fully updated weeks ago to 2.9.2, the latest software release that supposedly would prevent this from happening. This was a very dangerous failure, and I feel fortunate that I wasn’t rear ended or worse.

Reaching Lucid’s service center is always problematic, and today was no different. It took about 2 hours from the incident to finally get a tow truck onsite because they sent one from about 40 miles away in the Bay Area. Then, add another 90 min to get to the rental car company because they couldn’t send a loaner.

I’ve previously had my in for service for entertainment center related issues totally close to 30 days, so this latest episode is extremely disappointing.

Has anyone else run into this?
