[discussion] Recovered old account (~$100 → ~$2k now, ~$4k peak) – how would you handle this inventory?
Hey,
I recently managed to recover an old Steam account that I hadn’t accessed in years. Back then I probably spent around ~$100 total on skins and cases (when cases were basically worthless).
After getting access again, I found out the inventory is now worth around ~$2k on third-party markets (~$3k on Steam). I also noticed it peaked close to ~$4k at some point.
Now it’s back around ~$2k.
📦 Inventory (rough breakdown)
- ~50% in cases
- ~13 Glove Cases
- Some Spectrum / Gamma / other cases
- ~50% in skins
- M4A1-S Hyper Beast
- AK-47 Orbit Mk01
- AWP Fever Dream
- some lower tier skins
I’m trying to approach this more rationally and think in terms of positioning rather than reacting to the previous peak.
From what I understand:
- cases (especially Glove Case) seem more like a long-term play
- but also more volatile in the short/mid term
- and I might be a bit overexposed to them
Right now I’m considering:
- selling part of the cases (especially the cheaper ones)
- keeping some Glove Cases for long-term exposure
- possibly reducing overall exposure a bit
Would you approach this differently?
Just looking for some perspective from people who have been in this market longer.
