You Can Be Masculine Without Looking Down on Feminine Men or the lgbtq
I’m not bashing anyone. You can be masculine-presenting in whatever way you wish. But it becomes annoying when these particular men use their own characteristics to look down on feminine men and make them seem defective.
What really grinds my gears is that these hyper-masculine-presenting gay men seem to be emerging now that the coast is somewhat clear. Feminine gay men and masculine-presenting women helped pave the way for the limited acceptance we have today. And now that things are a little easier, you want to ride on the progress they helped create while looking down on the very people who helped get us here?
They also have this whole “Look at me, I’m so different. Even though I’m gay, I’m not the weird type. I’m different” attitude. But different for who? Who are you trying to impress? The straights?.
You don’t want to be part of the LGBT community? Fine. But many of the same people you’re distancing yourself from helped pave the way for the limited acceptance we have today. If many feminine gay men and masculine-presenting women hadn’t spoken out, we would probably still be in the shadows, pandering to the straight community and trying to hide who we are.
In the same breath, you keep hammering on about how you don’t want to act “zesty,” as if someone gave you a “How to Be Gay” rulebook and told you that being zesty was a requirement.
Then he ends it all with “too scared to come out.” But honestly, many of them have already joined their straight friends in bashing the community so much that coming out to them would feel like joining an enemy group.
The whole point of the community is: be who you are. And if being who you are requires you to make other people feel defective, then I think most of these men should live in their own misery and stop posting their horrid takes.
