Question about hand saws

Picture just as an example, why are some saws angled upwards and some flat? does it change how it works? feels? im gonna be making a new hadle for a fairly cheap bahco saw (very aggressive 5tpi crosscut teeth), would it be worth it to angle it one way or another? what does it do?

2 mini tables for my thingamajigs and doohickeys

Not perfect by any means but work good enough for what they are, the first table is made of ash with purple heart feet, the second one is fully ash.

This absolutely gem of a router plane has saved me numerous times, its just a hunk of oak, drilled thru at about whateverthefuck degrees with a bent chisel that cost me a whole sum of 1€ stuck inside it, its held by a threaded insert and a bolt. stupid simple - never disappointed me.
Id love to see your versions of diy shitty tools.

I set out a goal of making a kanna plane, why you ask? because im way overconfident in myself and “it cant be that hard”. To make it even better i never done something like that before! well here’s where my question begin, so far i know that both the blade and plane body have hollows in the middle (does the hollow in the body extend to the edge? or stop right before it) but there’s a plethora or things i dont know.
-does it require a specific quality of wood? or random piece of quartersawn oak/beech will do
-what would the bed angle be for a smoothing plane?
-how to mark out the location of the crossbar so the chipbreaker sits nice with the blade?
-maybe blade/chipbreaker recommendations?

Im probably missing way more stuff than i can imagine, so if a more informed person decides to waste 5 minutes of their life sharing some knowledge, id greatly appreciate it.

Mallet is made from ash, with a locally harvested curly ash handle and a black walnut pin, knife is curly ash with a walnut sapwood middle (not visible in the picture) and brass pins.

Made with a pos bandsaw and a whole lotta hand tools, finished with matte clear osmo.

I always loved working with handtools and dont plan to quit anytime soon, yet one step of it was always grueling-the stock prep.

I enjoy sharing my work but that left me to question, is it fair to do so in this subreddit? baisically all of my materials are cut to rough sizes with a bandsaw.

Tell me your opinions!
