Irina was found on the streets in a really bad state.

Her eyes looked like she had been attacked. They were almost completely closed, and her third eyelids were protruding so much that I genuinely thought she was going blind. Her nose was so blocked that she was constantly sneezing, and sometimes it was so bad that I was genuinely worried about whether she was even going to be able to breathe properly.

When we took her to the vet, I was honestly really anxious about what her reports were going to show.Her bloodwork came back and her white blood cell count was 34.7, almost double the upper limit of the lab’s normal range. Her albumin was only 1.8, which is extremely low, and there were also abnormalities in her liver-related bloodwork.

And on the first day, she wasn’t eating. I was so scared that she wasn’t going to make it through the night. But she did. And slowly, little by little, she started picking up food and eating on her own. That was honestly the biggest win for me. She was fighting on her own, and I became really optimistic that after the initial three-day treatment, she’d finally be on her way to getting better.

Unfortunately, she’s still sick. She still has an infection, and the congestion and sneezing are making it difficult for her to eat because she keeps sneezing while she’s trying to eat. She’s still having mucus coming out of her nose, so the treatment has had to continue.

Right now, her daily treatment is around 700, plus 100 consultation, so I’m spending around 800 every time I take her in, and she needs to go back repeatedly.

We also had to take her to Max to get her eyes properly checked. Thankfully, her actual eyes are healthy, there were no corneal problems, and underneath that horrible-looking third eyelid, she actually has excellent eye health. But because her eyes looked so bad when we found her, I still need to keep up with her eye care and follow-up. And if she doesn’t improve after the antibiotic treatment, the vets may need to do a PCR respiratory panel to check for a viral infection. That would mean another significant expense, and potentially changing her treatment again depending on what they find.

The problem is that all these costs are adding up really, really quickly. It’s not one huge bill that you see coming. It’s 800 here, 800 there, another consultation, another medication, another trip to the vet and suddenly you’ve spent thousands.

The first day alone was already around 800 for her initial treatment was 700 for her bloodwork, and another -2,000 when we took her to Max for her eyes. And now the daily treatment continues.

I can take care of her food. I can take care of her litter and the normal things she needs.

It’s the medical treatment that’s becoming difficult for me to keep up with.

She’s such a weak little baby underneath all that beautiful fur. She’s basically bones underneath her coat, and sometimes even her IV doesn’t stay properly because she has so little body mass. Watching that happen is honestly heartbreaking.

But somehow, she still fights. She still eats. She still tries to meow even though she can barely make a sound. She still tries to fight the vets and assistants when they try to grab her. And she still goes up to people and trusts them.After everything she’s been through, she still has so much spirit in her.

I just want to make sure I can keep taking her for treatment without having to worry every single day about whether I can afford the next visit.

Even a small donation would genuinely help Irina get through another treatment. I don’t need you to fund her entire recovery. If you can help with one treatment, one vet visit, or even a small part of it, that is already enough.

I just want to keep her treatment going until she is healthy enough to finally become the little calico cat she’s supposed to be.
