🩷 Lovely Mary May (605221) is 3 years old and 42 lbs – perfect size!  She came into the shelter on September 10th as a stray.  Mary allows full-handling, seeks social and is easily leashed.  She has been paired kindly with other dogs and is currently sharing her kennel with Ferris (a neutered male). Mary loves to play with toys and will trade a toy for a treat, and she loves to play with the water from the hose. Mary can certainly live with a canine sibling if separated and introduced slowly and appropriately.  This lovely young lady is ready to be in a loving home.  Please consider adopting or fostering Mary May for a rescue.

From our volunteer observations, she seems to be social with people and may take a little time to warm up at first, but she loves to cuddle and give affection once she's comfortable. Went to the bathroom right away spent some time sniffing and then just wanted to come hang out and get all the affection. Also was totally unbothered by the barking dog and very loud children in the next yard.

Loose/Wiggly Body, Wants to Play, Solicits Pets. Waffles wagged her tail gently when she saw me approach. She was easy to get on the leash and bring outside. She immediately began exploring and checking things out. She wagged her tail often while we were together. She knows how to sit and takes treats nicely. She loved playing, she would run after the ball and also run around with me. I sat on the bench and she came over to get pets, when I stopped she indicated she wanted more pets. She had a happy friendly sweet demeanor

7/4: Easy Going, Good on Leash, Knows Sit, Social (Dogs/People), Calms Down. Waffles is adorable!!!!!! Loves to give hugs and kisses. Great on a leash. Would make the best pet!!!! Beautiful grey coat.

7/16: Medium Energy, Jumpy, Good Manners, Knows Sit, Pottied Immediately, Social (People), Loose/Wiggly Body, Calms Down, Lovebug, Wants to Play/Run/Cuddle, Solicits Pets. Waffles was super excited to get time out of her kennel! Once in the play yard, she was so excited, she couldn't decide what to do, run, play, get loved on...all of it. She was a little jumpy, but not bad, an she settled down. She just needed to get that fresh out of the kennel burst of energy out. She has the cutest personality and is such a joyful girl! I was easily able to get her to focus on me to sit and stay for a video. She just patiently looked at me and stayed where she was for 30 seconds. This girl is a gem and so beautiful!

9/19: Easy Going, Good Manners, Good on Leash, Social (Dogs/People), Loose/Wiggly Body, Lovebug, Wants to Run/Cuddle/Sniff. Very sweet and friendly, easy to walk, obedient, happy to hang out and cuddle. A++++++.

9/27: Easy Going, Good Manners, Good on Leash, Social (Dogs/People), Loose/Wiggly Body, Lovebug, Wants to Sniff. Wonderful girl with a gentle disposition. Great on walk, enjoys exploring and sitting in the grass. Easy to handle even around busy kennels.

10/10 Daycation:

Waffles is one of the longest stay pups at the shelter, and we do not understand why no one has scooped up this precious girl. She is a cute little size, loves people, is affectionate, and loves to give kisses. She connected quickly with us and just loves getting attention. We love this girl so much!

Personality: Calm, happy, loving demeanor.

Car Skills: Jumps in on her own and is calm the entire time

Reaction to New People: Happy to receive attention from everyone!

Reaction to Cats: No cats seen

Burrata was brought in as a stray at the beginning of August. Outside of his cage, he is fantastic—he gets along great with other dogs, which you can see in his play videos! While at the shelter, he was involved in an altercation when forced to be caged with 2 other dogs in tight quarters. Forced kenneling and lack of proper socialization in high-stress shelter environments frequently instigate these behaviors, which are never representative of a dog's true personality outside of shelter walls.

Burrata would thrive best in an active home with people who can keep him mentally stimulated with toys, chew toys, and brain games to channel his smart young mind!

Force is looking for placement and needs additional medical care beyond what we can provide at the shelter.

Force has several medical conditions, including spondylosis of the lumbar spine, bilateral hip dysplasia, osteoarthritis of the left stifle (knee) joint, and heartworm disease (HW+). These conditions may affect his mobility, comfort, and overall well-being. He needs further veterinary care to help manage his medical needs and determine the best course of treatment.

Force is currently at risk for euthanasia and needs placement.

10/11/26:

Older patient that is arthritic in hindquarters with muscle atrophy over the lumbar spine and hips. Heart and lungs normal. Sedated with Dexdormitor (.5mg/ml) .8cc IM.

DX: Xray (RL & VD View Lumbar spine, Pelvis and both rear legs)=Significant spondylosis down lumbar spine, Hip dysplasia bilaterally and significant osteoarthritis in the left stifle joint.

TX: Carprofen (50mg/ml) 1.8cc SQ

RX: Carprofen 100mg 1T SID 7 days

RX: Gabapentin 100mg 2C BID 7 days

Reversed sedation with Atipamezole (5mg/ml) .4cc IM

Recheck 10/14: Recheck to make sure doing okay on carprofen and gaba. Spondylosis, hip dysplasia and arthritis left stifle joint. FDT is for 10/16

10/11/26: Force was easy to leash and take to the yard with no issues. Once in the yard he stayed near me and would follow me everywhere i would walk. He was a huge fan of being petted and being a Velcro dog out in the yard. Very sweet older pup.

📆 Arrived at the shelter on Mar 29, 2026.

Onyx was surrendered by an adopter who had only recently adopted him from another shelter. The home had multiple dogs, and after a fight broke out, someone was bitten while trying to separate them. No one knows which dog was responsible, yet Onyx and Hazel were both brought to the shelter and quarantined, while the other dog reportedly remained in the home.

Now Onyx is on the URGENT list, and a 2nd plea has been issued. If no one steps forward, he could lose his life soon—for an incident that may not have involved him.

Everyone who has spent time with Onyx describes him as an absolute sweetheart. Volunteers say he is easy to handle, playful, affectionate, and loves people. He melts into a submissive, loving boy when you enter his kennel and even does a happy dance when it’s time to go outside. He’s easy to walk, calm around other dogs, and simply wants to be close to his humans.

In playgroup, DPF described him as Gentle & Dainty, Social, Playful, and a Rockstar.

Onyx deserves a chance. He shouldn’t lose his life over an incident no one can even attribute to him.

📝 𝗦𝗵𝗲𝗹𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗲𝘀:

9/29/2026: Approaching kennel, dog is lo growling with tense face and curling lip as I attempt to leash. Once she was, she ca,me out and scurried out with low hanging tail and worried facial expression. Once retrieving from run, dog held a much loose body and swaying tail.

9/30/2026: Dog was at the front of the kennel wagging tail, soft face and loose body. As I leashed she walked out of the kennel and followed me out to the runs holding a semi-loose leash, wagging tail and soft face. Walked to and from the runs no issues

10/2/2026: Zinnia walks on a semi-tight leash and shows no interest in treats. While in the kennel, Zinnia will sometimes growl and lunge at the front of the kennel when walking past kennel with and/or without a dog.

10/4/2026: Zinnia was standing in front of the kennel gate with a wiggling body, ears up, fast wagging tail, and dilated eyes. She was walked on a semi-loose leash and friendly to and from the outside runs. Once back in her kennel, when she saw a customer peaking over her sheet she would vocalize towards them until they left her sight. Later in the afternoon, she did the same thing to me but once I opened the kennel and babytalk to her she was presented with a wiggling body and fast wagging tail.

Shelter Notes:
10/7: Velvet was vocalizing nonstop in her kennel and tried to pull down the covering placed over it, shredding the material. She reacted to another dog near her kennel by biting and tugging at the kennel door. Once leashed, she pulled toward other dogs while vocalizing. Staff attempted to redirect her with treats, but she showed no interest.
10/5: Velvet was sitting at the front of her kennel with soft eyes, a low-wagging tail, loose body and ears up. She walked on a loose leash and was friendly toward staff going to and from the outside runs. While in the runs, she sat near the gate and began vocalizing whenever staff passed her kennel. On the way back, Velvet saw another dog and tried to pull toward it. She ignored treats and continued pulling until staff used a muzzle and carried her back to her kennel.
10/4: Velvet greeted staff with soft eyes, a low-wagging tail, loose body and ears up. She walked on a loose leash and was friendly toward staff going to and from the outside runs. While in the runs, she sat near the gate and vocalized whenever staff passed her kennel.
10/3: Velvet was sitting at the front of her kennel with soft eyes, a low-wagging tail, loose body and ears up. She walked on a loose leash and was friendly toward staff. Later, a volunteer walked her and reported that she was very friendly and welcoming toward children and adults in the runs.
10/2: Velvet was very vocal during morning kennel activities. She walked on a semi-tight leash and occasionally showed interest in treats.
9/30: Velvet greeted staff at the front of her kennel with a loose, wiggly body, soft eyes and a fast-wagging tail. She was easily leashed and walked outside to the runs on a loose leash. She was easily leashed and returned to her kennel.
9/27: Velvet greeted staff with a fast-wagging tail and wiggly body. Staff noted that she has a lot of energy and becomes excited when there is an opportunity for interaction. She jumped on her kennel door, wagged her tail and whined excitedly. On leash, she zigzagged to and from the potty yard. Inside her kennel, she waited by the door for interaction.
9/26: Velvet was whining in her kennel and bolted out during morning cleaning. She had a wiggly body, wagging tail and jumped onto the kennel door. Once leashed, she walked on a loose leash.
9/25: Velvet was vocalizing in a high-pitched tone during morning cleaning and while interacting with a customer.
9/20: Velvet barked constantly in a high pitch and jumped inside her kennel, knocking over her water bowl. Staff also noted that she was quiet when approached and appeared eager for attention. She accepted petting but began barking again when staff walked away. She was described as friendly overall.
9/19: Velvet was consistently screaming whenever staff walked past her kennel. Covering the kennel did not stop the vocalizing, and she attempted to pull the covering inside.
9/17: Velvet was described as extremely friendly, sweet and submissive. She rolled over to expose her belly and was gentle with staff.
Medical Notes:
10/5: Velvet weighed 31.4 lbs. Staff reported nasal discharge and coughing. She was diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection (URI) and moved to the treatment room. Doxycycline 150 mg once daily for 10 days was prescribed.
10/1: Medical examination documented as normal.
9/28: Velvet was spayed. Her surgical record noted that she was in heat at the time of surgery. No complications were documented.
9/17: Velvet weighed 31 lbs at intake. Her initial medical examination was normal, and she tested heartworm negative. She received routine vaccinations, deworming and parasite prevention.
Velvet is a young, affectionate 31-pound girl who loves people but appears to be struggling tremendously with the confinement and stimulation of the shelter environment. Her notes consistently describe a friendly, wiggly dog who greets handlers with soft eyes and a wagging tail, enjoys affection and has walked nicely on a loose leash on numerous occasions. A volunteer even described her as friendly and welcoming toward both children and adults in the outdoor runs. Velvet would benefit from an experienced foster or adopter who can provide a calm, structured environment, allow her time to decompress and manage her safely away from other dogs while her behavior is assessed. She is also receiving treatment for an upper respiratory infection. Underneath all the noise and stress, Velvet has repeatedly shown a sweet, affectionate side that deserves a chance to thrive outside the shelter.

💔 Aerith is terrified. Her shelter notes describe a very timid mama who pants in her kennel, is extremely hesitant to walk on leash and becomes flighty.

When she first arrived on 10/2 as a stray with her puppies, she became so frightened when staff approached that she thrashed and chewed at the restraint equipment and got loose. Staff had to use a catch pole to safely guide her into a kennel. Once inside, they were able to vaccinate her and take her picture with light muzzling.

On 10/6, she was still described as very timid, panting in her kennel and extremely hesitant to walk on leash.

This scared mama is trying to cope with an overwhelming shelter environment while also caring for eight tiny babies who are only about 3 weeks old. She is also heartworm high positive and will need treatment.

🆘 Aerith needs a rescue and a calm, experienced local foster IMMEDIATELY. 🆘

💖 Luna's notes are full of personality.

A shelter volunteer described Luna as a dog who could “steal your heart in mere minutes.” In the videos mentioned in the notes, Luna was seen rolling on the ground and gently pushing the volunteer's partner backward to cuddle in the grass. She was described as goofy, joyful, expressive and very affectionate.

Luna greeted the volunteer with a happy smile and goofy energy, and she has continued to show friendly behavior in the shelter. She knows sit, is very treat-motivated and may be quick to train.

She also did well during a temporary dog-to-dog assessment. The volunteer noted that Luna actually helped a shy dog come out of his shell, and by the end of their meet-and-greet he offered a play bow.

Her shelter notes consistently describe a wagging tail, wiggly body and friendly engagement. She has repeatedly allowed staff to leash her and has walked on loose or semi-loose leash at different times. She can become vocal, jumpy or mouthy when overstimulated, so she will need a foster or adopter prepared to provide patience, structure, activity and calm handling.

🩺 Luna is heartworm high positive and is currently being treated for CIRD/URI. She was prescribed doxycycline after developing sneezing, hacking and clear nasal discharge. She will need continued medical follow-up and heartworm treatment after leaving BARC.

💔 A volunteer who knows Luna says she is only on the list because of length of stay and having a cold. Her record also shows that she can be an affectionate, social and incredibly fun dog when given attention and a chance to be herself.

9/26/2026 Foster Return | German Shepherd Mix | Neutered Male | 10 Months | 37.8 lbs | Heartworm Negative

💖 Glenn has a lot of puppy energy, but his earlier shelter notes show a friendly, treat-motivated dog who can walk well on leashy and enjoys enrichment.

Back in May and June, Glenn was described as friendly, patient and wiggly, taking treats gently, sitting and wagging when staff approached and enjoying his enrichment. He repeatedly walked well on a loose leash.

Since returning from foster, the shelter environment has clearly been much more difficult for him. Glenn is frequently vocal in his kennel, jumps at the kennel door and becomes excited when people or dogs pass. He can pull on leash and has been mouthy at times when excited.

Even so, his recent notes continue to show positive engagement with people. On 9/29, he greeted staff at the front of his kennel with a loose, wiggly body, soft eyes and fast-wagging tail and was easily leashed. On 9/26, he walked semi-loosely with a swaying tail and open mouth and could be redirected with treats.

Glenn is still a 10-month-old puppy, and much of what is being seen now appears tied to his high energy and kennel arousal. He needs a committed home or rescue willing to provide structure, exercise, training and an environment where he can settle.

🩺 Medically, Glenn is heartworm negative, neutered and his most recent exam was documented as normal. He has received routine vaccinations, deworming and flea prevention.

💗 MAGDA'S SHELTER NOTES

Magda's earlier shelter observations were encouraging:

🐾 She greeted staff at the front of her kennel with a neutral body.

🐾 She was easy to leash and repeatedly walked on a loose leash to and from the runs.

🐾 Staff noted a wagging tail during multiple interactions.

However, on October 5, her behavior changed significantly in the stressful shelter environment. She began forward lunging and jumping against her kennel door while barking at passing dogs and showing her teeth. Covering the kennel did not help her settle, and similar behavior was still noted on October 7.

This behavior appears to be particularly associated with the kennel environment and passing dogs. A calm foster environment with appropriate management could give her the opportunity to decompress and allow her behavior to be evaluated outside the shelter setting.

🏥 MEDICAL

- Heartworm negative! ❤️

- Dermatitis related to flea allergy dermatitis (FAD); Advantage was applied at intake.

- Hair loss was noted on her back end and feet.

- On October 6, she developed coughing and yellow nasal discharge. The shelter suspected canine infectious respiratory disease (CIRD), moved her to the treatment room, and prescribed doxycycline for 10 days.

A foster should be prepared to follow veterinary instructions and appropriate precautions while she recovers.
