THEY CAME INTO THIS SHELTER AS A FAMILY… NOW THEY COULD LOSE EACH OTHER FOREVER. 💔

They entered those shelter doors together — confused, frightened, and completely dependent on one another. Now they are facing the possibility that their family will be torn apart… or that some may never make it out alive.

They don't understand why they were abandoned. They don't understand why they're behind bars. And they certainly don't understand that time may be running out.

🚨 PLEASE DON'T LET THEIR STORY END HERE.

They need someone to see them. Someone to care. Someone willing to give this family the chance they deserve.

Mastiff / Neutered Male / Tan

Approximately 2.2 yrs old & 69 lbs.

📆 Arrived at the shelter on Mar 29, 2026.

Onyx was surrendered by an adopter who had only recently adopted him from another shelter. The home had multiple dogs, and after a fight broke out, someone was bitten while trying to separate them. No one knows which dog was responsible, yet Onyx and Hazel were both brought to the shelter and quarantined, while the other dog reportedly remained in the home.

Now Onyx is on the URGENT list, and a 2nd plea has been issued. If no one steps forward, he could lose his life soon—for an incident that may not have involved him.

Everyone who has spent time with Onyx describes him as an absolute sweetheart. Volunteers say he is easy to handle, playful, affectionate, and loves people. He melts into a submissive, loving boy when you enter his kennel and even does a happy dance when it’s time to go outside. He’s easy to walk, calm around other dogs, and simply wants to be close to his humans.

In playgroup, DPF described him as Gentle & Dainty, Social, Playful, and a Rockstar.

Onyx deserves a chance. He shouldn’t lose his life over an incident no one can even attribute to him.

⚠️ What exactly do they expect❓️ A dog is being forcibly restrained against its will, terrified, and desperately trying to escape. The dog is showing whale eyes, barking, and running away, yet a catch pole is used.

That is fear, panic, and distress—not proof of aggression.

How can anyone expect a dog to remain calm when it is being chased, cornered, and physically restrained by strangers? Then the very fear response created by that experience is used against the dog?

You cannot terrorize a dog into compliance and then condemn it for being terrified.

⚠️ This shelter continues to mislabel large breeds, raising serious concerns that behavioral assessments are being used to expedite euthanasia. Staff describe Ali as fearful and immobile, yet multiple videos directly contradict those claims. What qualifications, credentials, or professional training do staff have to make life-or-death behavioral assessments? This disturbing pattern demands accountability.

🆘️ RESCUE ONLY — NO DOCUMENTED AGGRESSION. YET ALI IS SCHEDULED TO DIE FOR BEHAVIOR!

Ali’s most recent notes are positive. Initially labeled fearful and retreating, her recent observations tell a very different story. Fear is NOT aggression. Hiding is NOT a death sentence.

If her latest assessments are positive and there is no documented aggression, WHY is euthanasia still proceeding?

Where is the justification? Where is the accountability? Ali deserves a fair chance at life—not a death sentence based on fear.

⚠️ Multiple Cane Corsos are repeatedly given extremely short deadlines - JUST 1-5 DAYS.

⚠️ This is unacceptable. Too many large-breed dogs entering this shelter are mislabeled as aggressive despite evidence showing otherwise, or given immediate medical deadlines for treatable conditions. These dogs deserve proper assessments and a chance to live—not a death sentence.

💥 THIS PATTERN NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED & THEY NEED TO BE INVESTIGATED!!! MANY ARE LOSING THEIR LIVES‼️

📢 We MUST speak up. We MUST demand transparency and accountability. We MUST fight for these dogs. 💪 PLEASE EMAIL AND DEMAND MORE TIME FOR SLATE!!

📆 Slate was available 9/27 and is already scheduled for euthanasia 9/29.

⋆✨️⋆ GOOD Behavior Notes: In the words of the volunteers and staff who have met Slate:

“Slate is just a gentle giant.” ❤️🐾

Slate has been described as submissive, sweet, and incredibly calm. He never barked and has been nothing but gentle with those around him. Staff and volunteers describe him as an amazing dog who deserves the chance to show what he’s truly like outside of the shelter.

🆘️ RESCUE ONLY — 🩺MEDICAL

Slate has medical concerns requiring veterinary care, including swollen wounds, possible untreated puncture wounds vs. foxtails, an open BCS 3/9 condition, a bony lesion, and other wounds.

Despite everything Slate has been through, everyone who meets him describes him as very friendly, including shelter staff and myself. He is still very present and clearly has a lot of will to live. Slate is bright, responsive, alert, and deserves the opportunity to receive the veterinary care he needs.

MASTIFFS IN IMMEDIATE DANGER — DEVORE WILL EUTHANIZE THEM ALL WITHIN DAYS 💔

One by one. Each day, another is marked for death.

⚠️ THIS PATTERN MUST BE INVESTIGATED. There appears to be a deeply troubling pattern at this shelter involving large-breed dogs being given as little as 1–8 days to find rescue or adoption before facing euthanasia. That is not a genuine chance at life.

⚠️ There are also serious concerns that some dogs may be quickly labeled “aggressive” or “sick,” potentially accelerating their placement on the euthanasia list before they have a fair opportunity to be saved.

🐾 Maxamus #A852002 is a 4-year-old Great Dane mix, and he is now urgent and at risk.Locared in Kennel: D23

⋆✨️⋆ FRIENDLY - GOOD WITH DOGS. Maxamus came into the shelter with a female dog named Xena. Xena was adopted today, but Maxamus is still here — and now his time is running out.

Maxamus is presumed deaf. Shelter staff noted that he does not respond to sound, head turns, or ear movement, although a BAER test would be needed to fully confirm hearing loss. He is also being treated for an upper respiratory infection after developing sneezing and green nasal discharge. Despite this, he is still eating and drinking normally, has successfully been kenneled with another male dog, and has been friendly with staff.

🐾 Calvin ID #A852136 brown brindle, unaltered male, who looks like a Mastiff mix.Eestimated to be 5 years old. More Info: I am in kennel D 71.

📆 Arrived at the shelter on 9/18. Available 9/23. - ALREADY SCHEDULED FOR EUTHANASIA TODAY - THAT IS JUST 4 DAYS 😡

SICK W/ URI - It’s concerning that so many large-breed dogs are being labeled as sick or aggressive‼️

⋆✨️⋆ Notes: Calvin has dental cavity that cannot currently be fully examined because he is in so much pain. He is also underweight and has an abnormal gait. The shelter is feeding him wet food and monitoring his weight to track his progress.

Despite everything he is going through, Calvin was the sweetest boy during his visit. His tail never stopped wagging, his demeanor was calm, and his eyes seemed to be asking for someone to finally love him and care for him.

Calvin appears to have been neglected and deserves so much more than what he has experienced.

‼️💥 UNACCEPTABLE 💥‼️ This shelter has made it painfully clear that large-breed dogs are not being given a fair chance.

They have available kennels. They have space. Yet these dogs are given very little time before being placed in danger of euthanasia.

When there is space available, why is the answer to euthanize 😡❓️

These dogs deserve time to be seen, adopted, fostered, or rescued. They should not be rushed out of the shelter simply because they are large breeds.

Euthanasia should never be the easiest solution when other options can still be pursued.💥
