Emerson is one of our longest residents, and he’s had zero interest. The chance of him making it out before his euthanasia date is so slim and it’s making me so sad. Emerson is a senior dog that clearly had a family and then was dumped. He’s in rough shape, has some lumps and bumps around his body, but he is so extremely resilient. Emerson doesn’t hold a grudge against people, he just loves everyone. Emerson is a big “scary” looking dog, but in reality he’s got a just as big heart. He’s never once been mean or scary. He literally just wants to be cuddled.

At 8 years old, he’d rather wear pajamas than act tough. SOCIAL w/ CALM DOGS in playgroup. He Didn’t engage when a dog went after him. With humans he is the softest, most affectionate giant lap baby. All he wants is cuddle time and he’s so happy just to get a few moments of love . Then the yard time is over, and he goes right back to waiting. He knows basic commands; Knows sit & gives

Nubs displayed friendly, social, and appropriate behavior during playgroup. He greeted both male and female dogs calmly, tolerated being sniffed, and enjoyed gentle, dainty play with another dog. When one dog gave a warning for space, he appropriately respected the correction and walked away without escalating. He also sought affection from handlers and remained relaxed and social throughout the session. Overall, Nubs appears to be dog-social with a gentle play style and good social manners.

✨️ 𝘽𝙚𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙞𝙤𝙧 𝙉𝙤𝙩𝙚𝙨: 𝘽𝙀𝙎𝙏 𝙃𝘼𝙋𝙋𝙔, 𝙁𝙍𝙄𝙀𝙉𝘿𝙇𝙔, 𝙎𝙀𝙀𝙆𝙄𝙉𝙂 𝘼𝙏𝙏𝙀𝙉𝙏𝙄𝙊𝙉, 𝙒𝘼𝙂𝙂𝙄𝙉𝙂 𝙏𝘼𝙄𝙇 He was given ONE chance in Play Group. He was nervous around the other dogs, and that was enough for the shelter to label him "No Dogs Required." Play Group is overwhelming for many dogs. The shelter environment is loud, stressful, and unfamiliar, and some dogs simply don't show their true personalities there. I've seen many dogs with similar Play Group results go on to live successfully with other dogs once they were out of the shelter and given time to decompress. He was returned to his kennel without issue. Due to his tense and defensive behavior around other dogs, he will be no other dogs required.

✨️𝙉𝙤𝙩𝙚𝙨: Raider lived with his owner since he was a puppy. He was described as low-energy, enjoying walks, tug, and being near his family, with no history of biting. He was surrendered for “aggression toward strangers,” though no specific incidents were provided. In the shelter, Raider is Rescue Only. Volunteers have limited access, but during kennel visits he initially barked and then quickly settled with treats. He currently has an upper respiratory infection and is on kennel rest.

He has participated in several dog playgroups where he was generally tolerant, low-energy, and often kept to himself. He is unneutered and can be sexually motivated. Staff noted he can be wary of handling and has growled or snapped during some collaring attempts.

Raider is sensitive and needs a slow, patient approach with unfamiliar people. Due to size, handling concerns, and intake history, he is now euth-listed Rescue Only. He needs a breed savvy handler who will go slow with him while he gets comfortable and work on his wariness of strangers.

⚕️ 𝙈𝙚𝙙𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙡: He has several growths/masses, including a larger mass on his hind paw and a smaller one on his front leg, which require further testing to determine whether they are benign or malignant. He also has pressure sores/hygromas on his elbows and hocks, likely related to age, wear, or possible arthritis. Staff observed bleeding from his mouth, believed to be from accidentally biting his tongue while pulling on the kennel bars. He is receiving Carprofen for pain and inflammation, and veterinarians recommend testing and removal of the masses.

📆 Arrived at the Shelter on 6/22/2026 from Fontana. RESCUE ONLY - Specialized care. I can only be placed with an approved 501(c)(3) rescue organization due to medical needs.

⚕️Notes : 6/23/26 Presented as injured in receiving. He is bright, alert, responsive and friendly on physical exam. He is ambulatory x4 limbs; however, the rear limbs appeared stiff at times with intermittent favoring of hind limbs. No obvious open wounds at this time. Further dx, including radiographs, would help to determine the extent of the injuries. These dx are currently

beyond the scope of what can be provided within the shelter

environment.
