💙 Say hello to gorgeous Polo (A530010). He 4 years old and 75lbs. Polo was first surrendered to OCAS in 2023 due to someone being allergic in the home. He was later adopted but returned as a stray this April. When the adopter was contacted they said they rehomed him and do not want him back. Shame on them! Please note that many dogs that are adopted and returned are at risk of losing their lives.  Polo is a volunteer favorite and allows full handling, is easily leashed, goes in and out of his kennel gently and is very affectionate.  He is quite excited when he comes out of his kennel but returns calmly. He loves to play in the yard and swim in the pool — and loves his treats!  His reaction to the other caged dogs and dogs in adjacent play yards has been either ignore or greet social without consequence.  He is good with recall and sit/stay and responds well to verbal and leash corrections. Polo often shows his sweet side sometimes with unrequested kisses!  Polo is having some frustration being at the shelter – which happens to most of the dogs in this environment. Polo deserves a chance at being adopted into the right loving home where he can decompress and get lots of love.  Polo is rescue only and needs a foster family to help him so a rescue can help him. 💙 Meet sweet Major (A602725). He is a 5 year old beagle and is 42lbs. Sadly,  Major was surrendered by the only family he ever had and is extremely frightened in his kennel (all curled up in the back). He is better once out of the kennel and it is difficult to get him back in.  Major needs a new family that can give him the time, patience and the training he needs to be his best self. Major is house-broken and allows full handling. Major loves children and can live with canine siblings with patience — and kept separately and introduced slowly and appropriately. He is finding it very stressful living in the shelter environment.  Let’s get him into the home that he deserves.  Major is rescue only and needs a patient and loving foster family so a rescue can help him. Brooklyn is very sweet, affectionate and seeks social.  She allows full handling.  Brooklyn has high energy and can be a bit protective of her human.  Brooklyn is very playful and loves to swim.  Brooklyn can live with canine siblings with separation, patience and appropriate and slow introduction.  Brooklyn is accustomed to living in a home and is having a difficult time at the shelter and is very sad. 🩷 Lovely Strawberry (A600021) here!  She is just 2 years old and 49 lbs. Strawberry was adopted on 7/17 and returned on 08/06…seems that she was not getting along very well with the resident dog.  It is important to follow the rule to separate and then slowly and appropriately introduce new canine members to the household.  And most importantly to give them significant time to acclimate in the new household and with each other. Strawberry is easily leashed, seeks social, allows full handling and loves to jump and play.  She is super affectionate. Strawberry has played kindly with a male dog while at the shelter and can live with a canine sibling with separation, slow and proper introduction and most of all patience. Let’s get this girl into a home that can give her the time and love she deserves.  Strawberry is available for adoption but can also be fostered through a rescue if someone offers to FOSTER her. Pippa is easily leashed and walks very nicely.  She allows full and easy handling, is very affectionate and seeks social. Pippa is also house-broken. She does come with a few medical issues — and the shelter is not able to give her the care she needs.  Seeing a full-service vet will be helpful for her. She does have a heart murmur (which does not mean she cannot live a full life) and a possible mammary mass.  She is also heartworm positive but her treatment is sponsored by the shelter. This precious girl needs to be loved and in a home.  Pippa is available for adoption but can also be fostered through a rescue.

Cookie is just a scared young girl struggling in the shelter environment. She often has a tense body, tucked tail and worried expression. She may hide in the corner, pace, avoid the leash or suddenly bolt when frightened.

Once left alone, however, Cookie has been observed lying quietly in her kennel. When her kennel was covered, staff heard her whimpering behind the cover.

🩷 Say hello to pretty and sweet Pippa (A602654) she 7 years young and 50 lbs. This girl has the most magnificent eyes! Pippais easily leashed and walks very nicely.  She allows full and easyhandling, is very affectionate and seeks social. Pippa is also house-broken. She does come with a few medical issues — and the shelter is not able to give her the care she needs.  Seeing a full-service vet will be helpful for her. She does have a heart murmur (which does not mean she cannot live a full life) and a possible mammary mass.  This precious girl needs to be loved and in a home.  Pippa is available for adoption but can also be fostered.

💙 Meet Kai with the beautiful eyes (A597575) He is 3 years old and 50 lbs. Sadly, Kai was adopted on 08/01 and returned the very next day!  Unfortunately, his new home did not give him a chance to decompress and/or get acclimated.  This reiterates that a dog needs a little time to trust and feel comfortable. Please keep in mind that when you return a dog to OCAS after being adopted, they are at jeopardy for losing their life. Kai is agentleman who is leashed eaisly, allows full handling, seeks social and is very energetic, affectionate and playful.  Kai can live with canine siblings with patience — and kept separately and introduced slowly and appropriately. He is finding it very stressful living in the shelter environment.  Let’s get him into a home that loves him and won’t let him down! Kai is available for adoption but can also be fostered.

💙 Gorgeous Aries (A602190) is 2 year olds and 63 lbs.  Poor Aries is owner surrender due to eviction. He is sweet and friendly and allows full handling.  Aries is easily leashed and very playful.  He loves to play with his toys — so much that it is difficult to take them away from him!  Aries could live in a home with canine siblings if separated at first and introduced slowly and appropriately.  Aries is accustomed to living in a home, so he is having a difficult time in the shelter. Aries can live with canine siblings with separation, patience and appropriate and slow introduction.  He has previously shared a kennel with Chance (an intact male dog). Let’s get this boy into a loving home where he belongs.  Aries is available for adoption but can also be fostered.

🚑 Medical Notes:

8/10/26: Generalized dermatitis noted all over the body. Some areas were very flaky with hair coming out similar to ringworm, along with pustules and some purulent discharge. Skin scrape was negative.

Puppy is approximately 6 weeks old. She has thinning hair and hair loss with flakes all over her body.

Assessment: Dermatitis, possible sarcoptic mange and/or ringworm.

Plan: Puppy was treated with Advantage Multi at intake and may need antifungal treatment.

💖 This tiny 6-week-old puppy should be growing up in a loving home, not facing the uncertainty of the shelter. She is at the beginning of her life and deserves the chance to receive the care, comfort, and safety every puppy needs.

Meet Rowe 🤍

This sweet girl is about 7 years old and is happiest right by your side. She absolutely loves to cuddle and would be more than content sharing a bed with her person.

Rowe thrives in calm, low-energy homes and bonds especially well with women. She does great with dogs her size or smaller, but larger dogs can make her anxious. With patience and the right introduction, she may be able to coexist with a bigger dog—but she would do best in a home that understands her needs.

She’s both crate trained and house trained, and she enjoys going on walks (a martingale collar works best for her).

Rowe has been with her foster for nearly a year, but due to a change in work schedule, her foster can no longer give her the time and attention she deserves.

She urgently needs a new placement by Friday 8/21.

If you’re looking for a loyal, loving companion who just wants a peaceful home and someone to love, Rowe is your girl.

Meet Dunkin! He was adopted from us last week but was surrendered back today because his medical condition has continued to get worse. He was first noted to have sores and ulcers on the paw pads on Friday. Since then, the condition has progressed significantly. Today, there were severe sores, inflammation, and areas where the paw pads are peeling off on all four legs. There were also sores between the toes and around the paws, as well as sores and inflammation on both elbows. The condition is affecting multiple areas of the paws and legs, with redness, swelling, ulceration, and loss of the normal skin and paw-pad tissue. We are concerned that there may be an underlying serious medical condition causing these changes such as an autoimmune disease, a liver-related skin condition, cancer, or another disease. The dog will need additional testing to determine the cause. This may include bloodwork, skin biopsies, or additional testing by veterinary specialists. Treatment could be extensive and may require medications for several weeks or potentially for the rest of the dogs life. He has more medical concerns than we can handle and manage here and needs placement ASAP

💙 Meet sweet Gordo (A601328) with his little teeth!  He is 5 years old and 56 lbs. Gordo was surrendered by his owner due to a move. He is a gentleman who walks very nicely on a leash.  Gordo is independent in the play yard and seeks social. He gently returns to his kennel. Gordo is house broken, good with children and is accustomed to living in a home. Gordo prefers female dogs and could live kindly with a canine sister.  Gordo misses his home and is finding it very stressful living in the shelter environment.  Let’s get him into a home to love him.

Volunteers say that Gordo walks well on a leash and isn't bothered by all the dogs barking while walking through the kennels. He knows basic commands, takes treats gently and is a reserved and low energy boy 💙. Gordo is a handsome and distinguished gentleman, who would love to cuddle up with you on the couch. He is available for adoption but can also be fostered through a rescue.

Bella is still a puppy and is rescue only and is just the perfect size. She deserves to be loved and in a fabulous foster home. She can be fostered through a rescue.

💙 Big, gorgeous Polaris (A561282) is 5 years old and 83 lbs. —  and seems to be a German Shepherd/Labby mix.  Sadly, he was adopted last year and was found as a stray in July.  He does not like going back into his kennel or sharing his food (which is typical in shelter environment).  Polaris allows full handling, is house-broken, easily leashed and walks nicely.  He seeks social, loves treats and knows many commands – even has his own unique handshake.  Polaris is a very playful boy, he likes water and loves to swim.  He pairs easily and he has shared his kennel kindly with multiple dogs. Recently with Rocky Road (intact male dog) and currently with Bamm Bamm (intact male dog).  OCAS post from Jan. 2025 indicates that Polaris “liked the company of other dogs” and that “he is nothing but an incredibly big and soft teddy bear.” This young man would love to be in a home.  Polaris is available for adoption but can also be fostered through a rescue.
