A little about this beautiful girl: she is 2. She grew up with other dogs so she gets along well with other pups. She is just a happy girl despite all she has been through. Her story just brings me to tears.
her story:
She grew up an excited energetic girl, as most labs do. Her mom has been a life long friend of mine- who to put it bluntly was a terrible mother to her.
At first I thought it was going good. They went to the park and we would meet up for doggie play dates. Until they moved to GA and during that time we did not speak.
Randomly one night I received a call- when I answered I could hear the dog screaming in agony in the background. During this call I urged her to take the dog to the vet. She did but refused her treatment because “it was expensive.”
I later learned the dog was put in the bed of a truck- tied up on a leash. They were spreading down a road and this poor baby fell out the bed & was being dragged across the concrete for miles. Still attached to the leash.
Days later I received a call from my friend who casually asked me how I’m doing- in effort to catch up. During this call I could her the dog crying in the background. It truly was heartbreaking. I urged her to surrender the dog to the vet to get her the help she needs. She refused.
Obviously I chose to take a step back from this person because this cruelty. Months later and she is now wanting to re-home the dog. This dog deserves love and happiness and someone who will actually care for her . Please contact me if you’re interested

Dozer had been previously adopted from the shelter and returned as a stray. He looks very skinny! He needs a wonderful home where he can get lots of care and love. He is very friendly, easily leashed and easily paired with other dogs. He is currently sharing kennel 05 with Frankie (an intact male dog).

Marshmallow is a sweet senior dog! She loves children and is very gentle with them! She has been easily paired multiple times. The shelter says she seems to prefer male dogs over female dogs, but Marshmallow is currently sharing kennel 36 with Teetee (intact female dog).

Conrad is a friendly boy who has been easily paired with other dogs (he is currently sharing kennel 01 with Apollo - neutered male dog). He is getting stressed out in the kennel and is much happier once he is out in the play yard.

Rosalee is a very sweet girl who keeps getting overlooked because she is housed in the isolation building due to her brachycephalic breed (short-nosed) as the regular kennels are too hot for her. She has previously shared her kennel with another dog but has shown that she prefers to have her people all to herself.

Beautiful Luna was surrendered by her caretaker after her owner went out of state and had trouble returning. She is very timid and insecure at first but walks very nicely on leash without pulling. Nalah had been surrendered to the shelter with her 2 sons in January. Her sons were adopted and Nalah was left behind. We are so thankful to her adopter for saving her life. Bruno is only alive today because of quick-thinking rescuers and Raiden’s Haven, who intercepted him right before he was scheduled to be euthanized. He was given a lifeline, but now he is stuck in boarding, and we cannot cover the costs indefinitely. He desperately needs a hero.

🐾 Meet Bruno!

Age: 5 years old (turns 6 in January)

Personality: Handsome, very well-behaved, loving, and fiercely loyal once he knows you.

Dog-friendly: Yes! He loves dog parks, walks, and playing with other dogs.

Cat-friendly: Not a fan of cats.

Kid-friendly: Good with older, respectful kids. No young children.

💔 Bruno's StoryBruno was a beloved family dog, but active young kids in the home repeatedly pulled at his tail and ears. Bruno gave a small head shake—which was labeled a "nip"—to ask them to stop. No harm was done, but it became a death sentence. An appointment was made to euthanize him.

Rescuers stepped in to save him, but two back-to-back foster placements fell through (one due to landlord restrictions). With nowhere else to go, Bruno had to go into commercial boarding.

📉 The Current SituationBruno is not adjusting well to the isolation of a kennel. He is becoming depressed, and we fear the longer he stays there, the more his wonderful personality will fade. He does beautifully during playtime but shuts down in his run. He cannot end up back at the shelter.

Nena is an 8-year-old dog who came in as a stray into our shelter, but we were able to get in contact with relatives of original owner. They explained that they had rehomed Nena a few weeks ago and the original owner moved out of state. They showed interested in reclaiming the dog but if they fail to do so by EOB 06/28, Nena's medical deadline is 06/29/2026. Dog has a very large, ulcerated mass on mammary chain, suspicious of neoplasia with mild serous discharge.

Her prognosis is guarded to poor. HW negative.

Bobby is a sweet young puppy who was unfortunately returned to the shelter after testing positive for Parvovirus, a contagious and serious illness. While he is currently on fluids, he requires more intensive medical care and a strict isolation environment that goes beyond what the shelter's resources can provide. We are looking for a dedicated home capable of managing his intensive treatment needs to give him the best opportunity for a full recovery. Because Parvovirus is highly contagious, he will need to be kept separate from other unvaccinated dogs during his care.

Conan is a gentle, people-oriented dog who was easy to handle throughout his assessments. During his handling evaluation, he remained calm and relaxed, readily accepted petting, and even offered his paw when asked.
He enjoyed affection, leaning into his handler for head and ear scratches, and displayed no concerning behaviors during handling.

In playgroup, Conan entered the yard with a slightly nervous but tolerant demeanor. He preferred to explore the environment, stay close to handlers, and solicit affection rather than engage with the other dogs. At times, he appeared anxious and would whine or pace, but he remained manageable and responsive to handler guidance. He showed mild possessive behavior over handler attention on one occasion, which stopped immediately with correction.
Overall, Conan was social with people, tolerant of other dogs, and did not display a defined play style during his assessment. He would likely do well with calm canine companions and a home that can help build his confidence while providing plenty of affection and reassurance. Calm dog recommended

Meet Wayne. Barely over a year old, and already in and out of the shelter two times. So what do we know about him?

Sadly, not as much as we'd like. You see Wayne was brought in as a stray a few months ago.

Though not very big, Wayne is young, strong, and a little on the shy side. He can be sweet and affectionate, but usually only with people he knows and trusts. We've noticed Wayne in particular warms up faster to women than he does men. He still has a lot of that puppy energy, and he adores being in the yard pools all day long. He can get restless in his kennel, and he will need consistent exercise.

His first time here, Wayne was quickly adopted, as small and young dogs often are. But less than two weeks later, he was returned. The reason?
Because he was "incompatible with the household." So once again, Wayne was lost inside our kennels.
Wayne is extremely energetic, and can play fetch or swim for hours. He also loves being rewarded with treats and love. It's clear this sweet boy wants and needs attention. For the right home, for the right family, Wayne is going to be a tireless and loyal companion.

Wayne is also excellent with other dogs, and has been given the title of play group rock star. This title is given by our behaviorists to dogs who set the pace during playgroups, are well behaved and actually enjoy their play time with other dogs.

As with all our dogs, if adopted, Wayne will require patience, kindness and consistency. He is young, but he wants to learn, and he listens very well (when a treat is involved). We know in our hearts that for Wayne, a perfect day is a long walk or a dip in a pool, where he can swim and play fetch, followed by a big meal, play time with toys, and then a good snuggle on a soft bed. With his person.

Wayne doesn't need much to be a happy dog; just the right person and the right heart.

Say hello to Nalah! This beautiful girl was surrendered to OCAS with either her sons or her brothers - due to their owners being unable to care for them. Both boys were adopted, but sweet Nalah was left behind.  Now this poor girl has a deadline of Tuesday, June 30th at 5 pm - and we are hoping you can help her.

Nalah is 6 years young and weighs 90 lbs. She is very affectionate, social and allows full handling.  She may be a bit frightful of men and prefer the company of women.  She is very stressed in the shelter environment and has been losing weight.  It would be wonderful for Nalah to be in a loving and patient home where she can learn to trust again. Nalah can be adopted directly from the shelter, or she can be rescued if someone offers to foster him.

Meet cute Trout. He is 2 years old and 42 lbs. Trout came in as a stray and is easily leashed. He is not doing well in the shelter environment - as it is a very scary place for these dogs. He needs a patient family to call his own and show him the way. Trout would love the company of a canine sibling - as he has been paired with several dogs while at the shelter. Trout can be adopted directly from the shelter, or he can be rescued if someone offers to foster him.

Say hello to handsome Fizz. He 1.7 years old and weighs 59 lbs. Fizz is high an energy boy and would love to be with an active family. He is anxious at the shelter and needs someone with kindness and patience to show him the way. Fizz will be happy to share his home with canine siblings if slowly and appropriately introduced. Fizz can be adopted directly from the shelter, or he can be rescued if someone offers to foster him.
