🩷 Lovely Mary May (605221) is 3 years old and 42 lbs – perfect size!  She came into the shelter on September 10th as a stray.  Mary allows full-handling, seeks social and is easily leashed.  She has been paired kindly with other dogs and is currently sharing her kennel with Ferris (a neutered male). Mary loves to play with toys and will trade a toy for a treat, and she loves to play with the water from the hose. Mary can certainly live with a canine sibling if separated and introduced slowly and appropriately.  This lovely young lady is ready to be in a loving home.  Please consider adopting or fostering Mary May for a rescue.

🩷 CASSIE #A606447 - This dog is a spayed female. This dog is currently located in CLIND38. This dog weighs approximately 49.0 lbs.,is 4Y and has tested negative for heartworm disease. This dog is being posted to rescue due to medical.

Meet Cassie!

Needs to find rescue placemen by October 9 at 5pm

*Cassie is likely deaf, has microphthalmia and limited vision.  Will likely not do well in the shelter environment.*

Cassie came to us with some healing wounds and limping but has no fractures.  It is suspected it was due to having pad wounds.

This girl is deaf and has some visual deficits (appears to have congenital microphthalmia).  She was easily leashed and handled during intakes.  Friendly!

Medical notes:

Findings: BAR, no eye or nasal discharge, dirt in coat, non weight bearing lame right front leg, mild abrasions and hair loss on rostral muzzle, hair loss on R ear, moderate brown crusted healing wound R shoulder. Eyes microphthalmic, suspect congenital. Does appear to respond to some visual stimuli but suspect visual impairment.  Appears non responsive to auditory stimuli, suspect hearing deficits.

“A606447 approached kennel door with fearful body language (walking low to the ground, tail tucked). She allowed leashing but was hesitant with walking (remaining low to the ground), needing gentle coaxing from handlers to get through the hallway. Once in yard A606447 appeared anxious, pacing around but also coming up to handlers seeking comfort in them. Allowing full handling. A606447 was still hesitant walking through hallway when returning to kennel. Unleashed no issue but did begin heavy vocalizing in an anxious/stressed manner once back alone in her kennel.
Move to advanced due to needing extra guidance when walking through the hallway.”

📍She went to foster for the weekend, here are her notes fom foster

Notes from weekend foster with BLB: While extremely limited on what she can see and hear, Cassie has shown herself to be very resilient and a quick learner of her surroundings. Really, her biggest struggle is her anxiety when left alone. She can become vocal and send herself into “panic mode”. The ideal home for her is someone who has the time and patience to help guide her through these moments and slowly acclimate her to being comfortable when alone. She does not appear to be the most comfortable in a crate but made some small strides. Luckily Cassie had no accidents! For her to potty she requires patience to first feel comfortable in an area, and some emotional support so she can focus on going to the bathroom vs. looking for “her person”. She also prefers to have her emotional support person during mealtimes. Cassie did come in with other dogs and did not show reactivity towards mine but is sensitive/startles easy so extremely slow introductions would be the best route for her. I would also recommend feeding her separately from other animals. Lastly, due to her special needs I think a home with older children would be best suited for her at this time. Overall, she is a very friendly dog but will need patience and consistency to thrive!!

💙 Meet precious Dozer (A544391) who has been in the shelter for far too long and now has a deadline.  Dozer is 5 years old and weighs 57 lbs.  He is easily handled, very friendly and affectionate and easily paired (he is currently sharing kennel 12 with Miss Ruby, a spayed female).   He has a bit of skin allergies but certainly does not deserve to be euthanized for that.  Dozer deserves a family to love him — and some canine siblings!  Please consider adopting or fostering Dozer for a rescue.  He will be an added delight to any family!

Meet Bingo!

*NEEDS TO FIND PLACEMENT BY EOB TODAY*

Bingo was adopted from the shelter in May and was returned late yesterday for a history of GI (gastrointestinal) issues.  The symptoms started in August and have not resolved with treatment at the adopter's veterinarian.

We do not have records from the adopter's vetrinarian but although he is currently stable, his condition may deteriorate at anytime due to history of prolonged GI, weight loss and inappetence.  Our veterinarians suspect that he may have a foreign body and/or underlying medical condition causing his clinical signs.  

He will need more diagnostics and treatment that we can provide in facitlity.

💙 Sweet Jimmy (A604135) is 6 years old and 75 lbs.  Jimmy is wonderful and kind, he allows full handling and seems to be house trained.  Poor Jimmy suffers from chronic allergies and cannot be treated at the shelter.  Sadly, Jimmy has a deadline because of his allergies (unimaginable). Jimmy has not been paired at the shelter but will be able to live with canine siblings with separation, slow, appropriate and supervised introductions. This friendly boy needs to find placement by Friday, October 2!

Bruno has no use of his rear legs as they are hyperextended and needs to be walked on a sling at least 3x/day.

He is friendly and able to urinate and defecate on his own but we cannot provide the level of care he needs at this facility.

💙 Say hello to Peanut Butter (A603633) who is the biggest sweetheart and a super friendly guy. He is easy to leash, allows full handling, is affectionate and gets along with all people and all other dogs. 💙 Sweet Jimmy (A604135) is 6 years old and 75 lbs.  Jimmy is wonderful and kind, he allows full handling and seems to be house trained.  Poor Jimmy suffers from chronic allergies and cannot be treated at the shelter.  Sadly, Jimmy has a deadline of 6 am Sunday, October 4th because of his allergies (unimaginable). Jimmy has not been paired at the shelter but will be able to live with canine siblings with separation, slow, appropriate and supervised introductions. Rex came into the shelter on 07/09.  He was adopted on 08/16 but returned on 09/12 due to someone in the home being allergic.  Rex is easily leashed – but pulls a bit.  He allows full handling, is playful and very affectionate — and loves playing in the pool. Rex shared his kennel with another dog in July and is non-reactive to other dogs through the fence and may be able to live with canine siblings with separation and slow and supervised and appropriate introduction. 🩷 DOT #A605512 - This dog is an unaltered female. This dog is currently located in CLIND34. This dog weighs approximately 35.0 lbs.,is 3Y and has tested negative for heartworm disease. This dog is being posted to rescue due to medical.

NEEDS RESCUE PLACEMENT BY EOB FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 18

Dot has been through an unimaginable ordeal and urgently needs a rescue to help her continue her recovery.

Dot, her owner, and another family dog were all struck by a car. Tragically, one of the dogs passed away at the scene, and Dot’s owner was transported to the hospital with serious injuries. Due to the injuries he sustained in the accident and his inability to continue caring for her, he later made the difficult decision to surrender Dot.

Dot sustained a laceration to her chest, numerous abrasions to all four limbs, and a comminuted fracture of her left radius. She may ultimately require amputation of her front leg. Because of concern for possible lung contusions, she will require more sophisticated monitoring if she undergoes anesthesia.

Despite everything she has endured, Dot remains a friendly girl and has allowed staff to carry and handle her.

Dot has already experienced so much loss and trauma. Now she needs a rescue that can provide the medical care and recovery time she deserves.

Per the shelter: This pet has medical issues and requires a higher level of care. Ideally veterinary care would be rendered outside of the shelter environment, for best results. If unable to successfully secure rescue placement by the above specified date, OCAS may elect to render treatment or may consider euthanizing the pet, if the prognosis is poor. This pet’s situation is evolving, and the OCAS clinic team will be monitoring appropriately. If interested in assisting this pet in any way, please be sure to reach out.
