Adorable 7-year old boy Miller is on euthanasia list at BARC, Houston, TX 1 PM 7/2/26. Sweet, loves humans, easy to walk, simply the perfect, more mature boy past rambunctious puppy phase. All he needs is a good home. Please help

🆘💙 MILLER IS LOSING HIS LIFE FOR BEING STRESSED IN A SHELTER 💙🆘
Miller (#A2081273) is a 7-year-old Staffy mix who was surrendered by his owner and now finds himself on BARC’s euthanasia list.
The shelter environment has become overwhelming for him, but underneath the barking and kennel stress is a sweet, affectionate boy who just wants to be with people.
🐶 MILLER #A2081273
💙 Staffordshire Mix
💙 Male
💙 7 Years Old
💙 63 lbs
💙 Heartworm Negative
Staff consistently describe Miller as:
✨ Wiggly and friendly
✨ Easy to leash
✨ Walks well on leash
✨ Loves human interaction
✨ Relaxed outside of his kennel
✨ Sweet and affectionate
One of the most telling notes described Miller greeting staff with “tappy paws” and a wiggly body when they approached. ❤️
Another noted that after returning to his kennel, he calmly laid down and relaxed.
Miller’s biggest struggle is the shelter itself. Like so many dogs, the constant noise, activity, and confinement have led to vocalizing and over-arousal when people pass by. But staff repeatedly observed that once outside his kennel, he is calm, responsive, and easy to handle.
💔 Miller has already lost his home.
Now he’s about to lose his life.
⏰ DEADLINE: THURSDAY, 7/2 AT 1 PM CT
⚠️ BARC has stated there will be NO extensions.
🏡 AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION, FOSTER, OR RESCUE
🚗 Out-of-state and Canadian adoptions are possible through rescue partners. Transport typically costs around $600 USD and includes boarding, veterinary care, spay/neuter, health certificate, and transport.
📩 If you are out of state or in Canada and interested in adopting Miller, please send us a message. We can help connect you with the appropriate rescue partner to facilitate the adoption process.
Miller doesn’t need perfection.
He doesn’t need a huge house.
He just needs someone willing to give him a chance to leave the shelter and be the loyal companion everyone there knows he can be.
Please share, tag rescues, and help us save Miller before time runs out. 🙏

💙🐶 Captain #A2082443
6/22/26 Stray | Staffordshire Mix | Male (Intact) | 2 Years Old | 61.0 lbs | HW Status Unknown

💙 Volunteer Notes:

We were not able to meet Captain #A2082443. If you're interested in helping us meet the animals, please message us!

📝 Shelter Notes:

6/22/26: During intake and workup, Captain stood with a wagging tail until blood collection was attempted, at which point he flinched and turned away quickly. Staff attempts to restrain him resulted in thrashing and screaming, preventing completion of heartworm testing.

6/25/26: Captain initially showed a worried face and hesitated when staff attempted to leash him. After being allowed outside to potty, he returned to staff with a wagging tail and walked back cooperatively.

6/25/26: During an evening attempt to administer eye medication, Captain lunged and barked through the kennel. Staff were able to medicate him during the morning, but he remained vocal and showed wide eyes in the evening.

6/27/26: Captain stood at his kennel door with a high wagging tail, open-mouth smile, and neutral body posture. He leashed easily and walked on a semi-loose leash to the runs and a loose leash back to his kennel. He returned to his kennel willingly for treats and remained quiet throughout the morning.

6/28/26: Captain was lying down in his kennel when approached. He walked on a semi-tight leash to the runs and, upon returning to his kennel, began vocalizing as other dogs around him were also vocalizing.

6/29/26: Captain was moved as a "move adopt" dog. Staff were able to leash him in the outside runs, where he ignored treats and walked with a tucked tail, dilated pupils, and a tense body. After being placed in his new kennel, he began barking, so enrichment was provided.

7/2/26: Captain was constantly vocalizing during morning feeding and cleaning. When approached, he displayed a flinchy body posture, a partially tucked tail, and dilated eyes. Once leashed, he walked on a forward leash but did not pull hard and continued vocalizing while in the outdoor kennel.

🚑 Medical Notes:
• 2-year-old intact male weighing 61 pounds
• Heartworm status unknown
• Presented with ocular discharge from both eyes, worse in the left eye
• Diagnosed with conjunctivitis, possibly secondary to entropion, and treated with erythromycin ophthalmic ointment for 10 days
• Had superficial healed scabs on the medial axilla and elbow with no redness, discharge, or swelling; no further treatment required

💙 Captain appears to be a sensitive dog who is struggling with the stress of the shelter environment. While he can become fearful and vocal in the kennel setting, staff have also observed him displaying friendly body language, walking well on leash, and seeking reassurance. He urgently needs a calm, patient environment where he can decompress and feel safe.

🚨 SCHEDULED FOR EUTHANASIA 07/08 🚨

🚨 SCHEDULED FOR EUTHANASIA 07/08 🚨

Austin has this quiet way of locking eyes with you that makes it feel like everything else disappears for a second. He doesn’t look away, just steady, focused, almost like he’s trying to understand what’s going on around him and where he fits into it.

He shares a kennel with William, the very fearful boy, and somehow in the middle of all of that stress and noise, Austin still holds onto this calm, observant energy. He’s young, about a year old, and just sitting there waiting while the days pass him by.

It’s hard to understand how a dog this striking and aware is still overlooked. Please share him everywhere. He deserves a chance to leave this kennel alive.

Scared 1-year old Sharpei mix boy Toby is scheduled for euthanasia 7/6 AT 1 PM CT at BARC, Houston, TX. He wags his tail and responds to baby talk, clearly he needs encouragement and patience. He can be adopted to US/Canada. Please help

🆘🩵 TOBY IS TERRIFIED. HE NEEDS A CHANCE, NOT A DEATH SENTENCE. 🩵🆘
Toby (#A2083040) is only 1 year old.
This young Shar Pei mix found himself alone on the streets, and now he is facing euthanasia before he’s even had the chance to experience what a loving home feels like.
💔 Toby isn’t shutting down because he’s a bad dog.
He’s shutting down because he’s scared.
🐶 TOBY #A2083040
🩵 Chinese Shar Pei Mix
🩵 Male
🩵 1 Year Old
🩵 48.8 lbs
🩵 Heartworm Negative
Shelter staff have observed a frightened young dog who needs patience and understanding.
Despite his fear, Toby has shown moments of trust and affection:
✨ Wagging tail
✨ Soft facial expressions
✨ Accepts petting
✨ Responds to gentle encouragement and baby talk
✨ Relaxed enough to lie on his side against a handler ❤️
One shelter note described Toby following a handler after being encouraged with baby talk, then settling down and resting against them once he felt safe.
That dog is still in there.
The shelter environment is simply overwhelming him.
Like many frightened dogs, Toby struggles when stressed and has reacted strongly around other dogs. What he urgently needs is a calm environment where he can decompress and feel secure.
He is also being treated for a cherry eye and conjunctivitis—conditions that are manageable and treatable.
⏰ DEADLINE: MONDAY, 7/6 AT 1 PM CT
⚠️ BARC has stated there will be NO extensions.
🏡 AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION, FOSTER, OR RESCUE
🚗 OUT-OF-STATE AND CANADIAN ADOPTION IS POSSIBLE
We are a volunteer network dedicated to helping at-risk dogs. We are NOT affiliated with BARC. We help connect dogs at risk of euthanasia with adopters, fosters, and rescue organizations that can save them.
📩 If you are interested in adopting Toby from out of state or Canada, please message the OP immediately. We can help connect you with an approved 501(c)(3) rescue partner and provide an adoption application. BARC cannot directly facilitate out-of-state adoption or foster placements.
🚗 Transport is typically around $600 USD and generally includes boarding, transport, veterinary care, spay/neuter, and a health certificate.
Toby doesn’t need someone perfect.
He just needs someone willing to see beyond his fear and give him the chance to feel safe again.
Please share, tag rescues, and help us save Toby. 🙏

💜🐶 Sierra #A2082496
6/22/26 Stray | Siberian Husky Mix | Female | 11 Months Old | Spayed | 44.6 lbs | HW Negative

💜 Volunteer Notes:

We were not able to meet Sierra #A2082496. If you're interested in helping us meet the animals, please message us!

📝 Shelter Notes:

6/22/26 (Intake): Sierra was reported as a medium-sized brown dog who had appeared the previous night and would not leave the property, remaining in front of the finder's door.

6/23/26: Sierra was very vocal both in her kennel and in the outdoor runs. She displayed a fast wagging tail, dilated pupils, and hyperactive behavior.

6/29/26: Sierra was selected as a move-adopt candidate and willingly approached staff. She greeted staff at her kennel door with a wagging tail, was easy to leash, and walked loosely back to her new kennel.

6/30/26: Sierra had been a move-adopt candidate the previous day. After morning cleaning, she vocalized throughout the day and urinated in her kennel multiple times. On leash, she zigzagged and jumped on staff while they attempted to walk her. She ignored treats offered to redirect her behavior. She behaved similarly on the return walk and resumed vocalizing once back in her kennel. She was placed on an adoption evaluation for monitoring.

7/1/26: Sierra was vocal in the morning. When it was time for her walk, she was jumpy and zigzagged on the leash. Staff had to repeatedly toss treats to prevent her from jumping on them. After returning to her kennel, she remained very vocal throughout the day.

🚑 Medical Notes:
• 11-month-old spayed female weighing 44.6 pounds
• Heartworm negative
• Green line spay tattoo present
• No medical concerns documented

💜 Sierra is a young, energetic husky mix who appears to be struggling with the stress and overstimulation of the shelter environment. Staff describe her as social and willing to engage, but also highly vocal, excitable, and difficult to redirect once aroused. Her willingness to approach handlers and walk loosely in calmer moments suggests she may thrive in a structured home environment where she can decompress, receive consistent guidance, and channel her energy appropriately.
