🩷 Lovely Mary May (605221) is 3 years old and 42 lbs – perfect size!  She came into the shelter on September 10th as a stray.  Mary allows full-handling, seeks social and is easily leashed.  She has been paired kindly with other dogs and is currently sharing her kennel with Ferris (a neutered male). Mary loves to play with toys and will trade a toy for a treat, and she loves to play with the water from the hose. Mary can certainly live with a canine sibling if separated and introduced slowly and appropriately.  This lovely young lady is ready to be in a loving home.  Please consider adopting or fostering Mary May for a rescue.

𝐔𝐑𝐆𝐄𝐍𝐓! 🚨 LEROY COULD DISAPPEAR AS SOON AS TOMORROW MORNING, 9/30. Look at this sweet boy’s face — and then look at his ears. 💔 The tops appear to have been cruelly CUT OFF. We don’t know who did this to LEROY or why, but we can’t help wondering how they would like it if someone did the same thing to them. And despite that, his ears are actually super cute and make him unique!

🥺 And yet look at HIM. LEROY has the softest, sweetest face and such a calm demeanor. He’s 4 years old, 55 pounds and DOG FRIENDLY — currently sharing his kennel with TONNY they are buddies.

💛 Whatever happened to LEROY before he got here, he deserves better from humans now. He deserves to walk out of this shelter and find out just how good life can be.

She was surrendered because her family no longer had time for her. Almost a month later, she’s still waiting with no interest.

⭐️ FRIENDLY - This big girl is so soft and affectionate with people. On her walks through the kennels, she was friendly with everyone she met. In playgroup, she was calm and tolerant with the other dogs. She didn’t play so she’s calm dogs recommended But when her play time was over, Melly wasn’t ready to go back to her kennel 🥺.

If you are wondering if the leather is different on this Mott verses the previous loved leather edition of the Mott Messenger, yes, the leather is very different. Very little distressing, and mostly black without all the brown undertones. Also, this leather is much softer and malleable than the previous version of the loved leather Mott messenger. I would say this leather is far better quality IMO, not nearly as stiff, smells incredible, and will take little to no time breaking it in because it already has a pre-warned feel to the leather like it is already broke in. I would give this bag a 10 out of 10, and think the leather is much better than my previous loved leather Mott messenger. The inside is still unlined like the previous version. This is a beautiful bag. This is the size large in my photos. The last 2 photos is of my older style large LL Mott Messenger for comparison. The older version gives off more brown, and the new one gives off mostly black. Hopefully this helps anyone that is considering this bag. It’s worth the buy.

10 dogs on today's euthanasia list at BARC Houston are extremely urgent! 32 were originally on the list today, but thankfully have been saved, with a few extended. Need a foster or adopter by the end of the day! Can be euthanized at any time after 1 PM CT.

• A2092629 Bella: Rescue Only, 4-year-old GSD mix, medium-sized girl at 56 lbs. She is confused and distressed in the shelter environment. She's currently HW High+.
• A2092022 Bono Box: 2-year-old Staffordshire mix. Amazing notes and ready to go! Happy, affectionate, and playful boy who greets people with a wagging tail and wiggly body. He is easy to leash, walks well, and enjoys treats, cuddles, and attention. He has also shown playful interest in other dogs!
• A2091700 Choppo: 2-year-old Staffie Mix. Friendly, wiggly young pup with the cutest ears! Loves play and affection. Heartworm negative, non-reactive to other dogs (pays them little attention when passing by kennels. He loves life!
• A2093934 Echo: 13-month-old German Shepherd/Labrador Retriever Mix who greets staff with a relaxed body, soft eyes, and fast-wagging tail. Loves baby talk! He is easy to leash and walks well to/from the runs. Had an adopter in rural Canada, but no rescue can transport her in time! He's only been at BARC for a few days and is already out of time!
• A1933798 Esther: Rescue Only, 6-year-old Labrador Retriever Mix who came in as an owner surrender and is HW positive (high). Noted to have mild right hindlimb lameness while walking, with a slight bunny hop. She has been sweet and greets staff with a gentle wagging tail! She was diagnosed with right hindlimb lameness. She has already escaped death at BARC 2 years ago to be returned two years later through no fault of her own. Rescue will cover expenses.
• A2089073 Judy: 6-year-old Staffy Mix who is a medium/large sized girl. She is HW+. Judy came to the shelter as a stray, but she’s a plump old girl with good teeth who knows how to sit, and keeps her kennel clean, looks to have known a home before. She’s always very well behaved in her kennel, always sleeping on her bed, and has the cutest tail wag!
• A2093230 Mack/Mick: 3-year-old Staffordshire Mix. Popular guy! He’s a very good boy, loads of fun! He is very people- and dog-friendly! He would make an excellent running or walking buddy. He loves to chase the ball; just a fun-loving dog. Medium-sized guy at 50.8lbs who is HW Low Positive.
• A2093865 Mickey: 2-year-old Staffie Mix. Loves human attention and being dressed up! Heartworm negative and not spayed yet. She would most likely need slow, intros or to be an only dog. She growls at male dogs when walking by kennels. She’s not spayed, so potentially making sure males stay away from her, but it’s hard to know in the shelter environment. She has great volunteer notes and has been described as super sweet.

These babies are so skinny. They look very bony, and they all clamor for treats. Potential cruelty case. They are five months old and only 9 pounds each. Otherwise, they are typical happy puppies!
• A2092260 Zaza: 8-month-old Great Dane Mix: Lots of puppy energy. Very happy, wiggly, and can be hyper on the leash. Does well with redirecting.

If adopting locally and the dog is heartworm positive, BARC will cover heartworm treatment with the purchase of 6 months of preventative through the shelter ($40-60 and cheaper than you can get anywhere on the market!).

Michael, a 2-year-old Cane Corso mix, is currently at the top of the euthanasia list at Devore Shelter and urgently needs a rescue pull, a committed foster, and medical sponsorship. He is listed as \*\*Rescue Only\*\* due to requiring intensive medical therapy and a potential leg amputation.
Michael arrived at the shelter with head and neck lacerations, along with a swollen, draining open wound on his right hind knee. While a third-party veterinarian noted a guarded prognosis and possible amputation, Michael remains bright, alert, responsive, and eats and drinks willingly. His swelling has decreased, but he desperately needs a quiet, dedicated home environment where he can safely heal and be monitored. Because he is currently in pain, he has shown mildly fearful/defensive behavior during exams.

🚨 URGENT — PLEASE HELP SAVE BUNZIE’S LIFE 🚨💔🐾

This is Bunzie. He is an 8-year-old, approximately 50-pound Pit/Lab mix, and right now he desperately needs someone to save him.

Bunzie’s world was turned upside down in the most heartbreaking way imaginable. His owner — someone I knew very well — was found deceased in West Hempstead NY💔

For the past three days, Bunzie never left his owner’s side.

This dog has never been alone. He has never known life without his person. He was his owner’s constant companion and emotional support dog for more than eight years. And suddenly, without understanding why, everything and everyone he knew is gone.

The police are now handling their investigation, but Bunzie needs somewhere safe to go IMMEDIATELY. The people who are caring for him right now are doing everything they possibly can, but they are afraid that if they cannot find a foster or adopter quickly, Bunzie could end up in a shelter.

💔 I am terrified that once this loving, 8-year-old dog enters the shelter system, he may never get another chance to come out.

The men at the auto body shop where Bunzie is currently being kept are heartbroken. They are grieving the sudden loss of their boss and friend while desperately trying to figure out how to save his dog.

Bunzie is the sweetest, most loving dog. I have personally spent time with him and played with him many times. He loves to snuggle, give kisses, and be close to his people. He is affectionate, happy, and has so much love left to give.

I would take him myself in a heartbeat, but I am currently several hours away in upstate New York and already have two dogs on 20 acres. Until we know more about how Bunzie does with other dogs, cats, and whether he might try to run away searching for his owner, I don’t want to put him in a situation that could be unsafe for him.

I am begging for someone on Long Island or nearby to please step up — even temporarily.

She arrived less than two weeks ago and is making clear progress. She’s allowing pets, taking treats, enjoying playgroup, and doing well with other dogs. During her most recent outing, she went from fearful and hesitant to offering her paw, accepting full-body pets, nudging for more affection, and allowing her collar to be changed without issue.

If the at-risk policy requires a behavioral decline, where is the decline? Her behavior is improving.

She’s scared and needs time, patience, and confidence-building—not a death sentence. Her progress should count for something.
