Kane has already survived things no dog should ever endure.
He was shot in both hips before arriving at the shelter. Despite that unimaginable cruelty, Kane still chooses to trust people.
His brother, Steven, was rescued on July 31. Now Kane is on the euthanasia list, facing the possibility of being left behind forever.
Shelter staff describe Kane as:
✨ Gentle and incredibly sweet
✨ Affectionate and people-oriented
✨ Treat motivated
✨ Walks well on leash
✨ Loves to sniff, explore, and play
The shelter is overwhelming for him. Loud barking makes him crouch or seek comfort by staying close to his handler. But once he’s outside…
💙 His whole personality comes alive.
He greets people with a wiggly body, happy play bows, fast wagging tail, and often leans into affection or rolls onto his back for belly rubs. He’s just a young dog longing to feel safe.
Kane is currently recovering from a treatable upper respiratory infection, has been neutered, is heartworm negative, vaccinated, and is ready for a family that will show him the kindness he’s always deserved.

When I first met Maizy at Harris County Pets, she was hiding in the back of her kennel, trembling. She was absolutely terrified for 3 months .. watching while other dogs got adopted.

She was also just moments away from euthanasia.

The second I got her outside of her kennel, she wrapped both of her front paws around me in the biggest hug and buried her face into me. She didn’t want to let go.🥹

I’ll never forget that moment.

Fast forward to today, and that frightened shelter dog has completely transformed.

I’m fostering Maizy through Save Some Souls Rescue, and she’s become one of the sweetest dogs I’ve ever had the privilege of fostering.

Before ending up at the shelter, Maizy was a mama. She took wonderful care of her puppies, and now it’s finally her turn to be someone’s baby.

She has a calm, gentle personality and is happiest just being with her people. She’ll happily nap beside you, follow you around the house, or play with another dog. She’s affectionate without being demanding and has settled beautifully into home life.

As much as I’ve fallen in love with her, my goal has always been to help her find the forever family she deserves. Every foster dog that finds a home opens a space in my house for another urgent shelter dog that desperately needs a second chance.
