Kiko is a super sweet and friendly boy who desperately needs a foster, adopter, or rescue from BARC before July 7, Houston, TX. He is an amazing pet who is on the euthanasia list for the 2nd time. Please help

๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿ’” KIKO GOT A REPRIEVE โ€” BUT HE IS back on the list ๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿšจ
Kiko was supposed to die.
His name was placed on BARCโ€™s euthanasia list two weeks ago, but somehow \*\*Kiko has been given something incredibly precious โ€” a little more time.\*\*
Not a home.
Not a foster.
Not safety.
Just a little more time.
Now he is back on the list again ๐Ÿ˜ข๐Ÿ˜ญ
๐Ÿถ \*\*Kiko #A2076782\*\*
๐Ÿฉต Neutered Staffordshire Mix
๐ŸŽ‚ 2 Years Old
โš–๏ธ 66 lbs
๐Ÿฉบ Low Heartworm Positive (treatable)
Kiko has been at BARC since \*\*May 31st\*\* โ€” an unusually long time for this shelter.
A volunteer who spent time with him describes a dog who is:
โœจ Sweet, gentle, and affectionate
โœจ Walks nicely on leash
โœจ Takes treats gently
โœจ Ignores other dogs while walking by
โœจ Loves attention and being with people
โœจ Keeps wagging his tail despite everything
As the days have turned into weeks, Kiko has begun showing signs of kennel stress. Thatโ€™s not surprising.
Imagine spending every day confined to a kennel, watching people walk past while hoping someone finally chooses you.
Kiko isnโ€™t a bad dog.
Heโ€™s a young, friendly boy who desperately needs out.
๐Ÿ’” Tonight heโ€™s sleeping in a kennel.
He doesnโ€™t know he was almost euthanized.
He doesnโ€™t know he was given extra time.
He only knows that every day people walk past his kennel, and he keeps hoping one of them will stop.
โฐ \*\*Kiko urgently needs a foster, adopter, or rescue commitment before the July 6th. This is his last chance.\*\*

BARC (Houston, TX) 7/7 Euthanasia List Extended Dogs. Each dog needs a hold by 1pm CT. Please share.

First, for some reason, u/Masterpiece9550 is having trouble with the visibility of her posts. For instance, they're not coming up reliably in searches. So I am adding links to her two new dogs for 7/7:

Caramel (2Y neutered male Staffie mix and a BARC foster return) - https://redd.it/1upgbsr/

Eli (5M male Staffie mix) - https://redd.it/1upfqwt/

All the below dogs are extended from BARC's 7/6 list.

Each needs a hold by 1pm CT, Tuesday, 7/7, to survive.

Please do not count on BARC extending them again.

If you are interested in adopting (US/Canada) or fostering (Houston, TX, only) any of these dogs, please contact one or more of the following networkers: u/BanditY77, u/lingeringneutrophil, u/holly_holly_holly, u/fugueink, or u/No_Masterpiece9550.

Be aware that because of the New World screwworm outbreak there are restrictions on nonhuman travel, varying by destination.

Appletini and her two pups (3Y female Rottweiler mix) - https://redd.it/1umelgt/

Kiko (2Y neutered male AmStaff mix) - https://redd.it/1uodli7/ R.E.A.L. Rottweiler Rescue will tag Kiko if they can find a foster in the Houston, TX, area. If you can help, their foster application is below. https://realrottweilerrescue.com/foster

Tanner Wilson (aka Dash) (2Y male Labrador mix): He remains at BARC and may be euthanized any time before 1pm CT, Tuesday, 7/7. https://redd.it/1uo6w8k/

If there are others added, I will update this post.

Please understand that we must treat the 1pm deadline as nonnegotiable. BARC and BARC alone decides if a dog gets more time, and they usually say no.

Don't forget the many other wonderful dogs on the long-stay list (updated hourly): https://www.houstontx.gov/barc/barcdata/BARC_LOSV2.1.pdf

If they're not on the next list, they soon will be.

Emerson is one of our longest residents, and heโ€™s had zero interest. The chance of him making it out before his euthanasia date is so slim and itโ€™s making me so sad. Emerson is a senior dog that clearly had a family and then was dumped. Heโ€™s in rough shape, has some lumps and bumps around his body, but he is so extremely resilient. Emerson doesnโ€™t hold a grudge against people, he just loves everyone. Emerson is a big โ€œscaryโ€ looking dog, but in reality heโ€™s got a just as big heart. Heโ€™s never once been mean or scary. He literally just wants to be cuddled.

At 8 years old, heโ€™d rather wear pajamas than act tough. SOCIAL w/ CALM DOGS in playgroup. He Didnโ€™t engage when a dog went after him. With humans he is the softest, most affectionate giant lap baby. All he wants is cuddle time and heโ€™s so happy just to get a few moments of love . Then the yard time is over, and he goes right back to waiting. He knows basic commands; Knows sit & gives

Cute 1-year old lab mix Oso was found by good Samaritans and brought to BARC, Houston, TX where heโ€™s scheduled for euthanasia 7/7 at 1 PM. He was easy to leash, has microchip and just needs a safe home to decompress. Can be adopted to US/Canada. Please help

๐Ÿ†˜๐Ÿ’™ OSO IS JUST A BABY โ€” AND HEโ€™S RUNNING OUT OF TIME ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ†˜

Oso arrived as a stray and has been struggling in the stressful shelter environment. Notes describe a young dog who gets fixated on other dogs, pulls on leash, and reacts strongly while confined around constant barking and kennel chaos.
But they also describe a dog with:
โœจ A wiggly body
โœจ A wagging tail
โœจ Lots of youthful energy
โœจ A desire to engage with the world around him
๐Ÿ’” Shelter stress can bring out behaviors that donโ€™t reflect who a dog truly is in a home environment. Oso urgently needs a chance to decompress, learn, and thrive outside the shelter.

PLEASE HELP ๐Ÿ™

๐Ÿšจ SCHEDULED FOR EUTHANASIA 07/08 ๐Ÿšจ

There are 6 dogs at the San Bernardino shelter that are in desperate need of a foster or forever home.
I was personally connected to these dogs before they were rescued from one of the worst hoarding and abuse situations Iโ€™ve ever witnessed. They spent their entire lives trapped in a house where they knew nothing but fear, neglect, and pain. They were repeatedly beaten, left alone for hours locked inside, and forced to live among other dogs that had died from the horrific conditions.
After they were finally confiscated, I hoped their nightmare was over. Instead, they are now at risk of euthanasia.
This is my attempt to help them one last time.
These dogs have never experienced the simple joys that so many dogs take for granted. Theyโ€™ve never had regular walks, felt grass beneath their paws, or known what itโ€™s like to have someone truly love them. They donโ€™t know how to walk on a leash because they were never given the chance.
Yet despite everything they endured, they are incredibly gentle. When I spent time with them, they didnโ€™t know whether I was someone they could trust, but they still came up to me with wagging tails, hoping for kindness. That says everything about who they are.
They are good with children and other dogs, and they deserve the opportunity to experience a life filled with love instead of fear.
Please, if you or someone you know can foster or adopt one of these dogs, consider giving them the second chance theyโ€™ve waited their entire lives for. Sharing this post could be the reason one of them gets to live.
They have survived so much already. Letโ€™s not let their story end here. โค๏ธ๐Ÿพ

Bio

Starfish is a gentle female dog who arrived at the shelter unable to use her back legs. She does have deep pain perception, and there is some movement in her hind legs, giving hope that with proper medical care she could improve. Starfish has also been noted to have an enlarged heart, which adds to the urgency of her medical needs.

Despite everything sheโ€™s facing, Starfish remains calm and trusting, looking to people for comfort and reassurance. She deserves a chance at proper care, safety, and a place where she can heal.

This pet is at risk for euthanasia due to medical needs the shelter cannot provide. If you can help Starfish, please contact us at dasadopt@dallas.gov.
