Come make new friends! - Saturday, 9/19 7 PM

i listened to everyone’s input and we’ve got a date and venue!

the idea: we will have a “speed dating” style set-up where you sit down with each person for 5 mins and play games before moving onto the next
once the “circuit” is over, everyone can drink, play games, socialize, do whatever they want!

location: Putter’s Arcade & Bar 320 S. 2nd St. Waco, TX

time: Saturday, September 19th, 7 PM until whenever

18+ aged adults & all genders welcome

if you want to participate in the “speed dating” please arrive at or before 7 PM

also, if we get there and the “speed dating” style setup isn’t the vibe - we can just play it by ear! it’s a bar and arcade, after all, so there are a lot of ways to break the ice

please keep in mind: this is a PLATONIC event for adults in Waco to make new friends. this is NOT a dating event, so please don’t arrive with those intentions. if you happen to meet the love of your life - that’s great! however, this event is for people looking for new friends

Anime marketplace Richland mall

Took my son there a while ago and the man working there, who I assume is the owner was pretty dismissive of him while he was weirdly looking at some young girl, who is this guy? he creeped me out. Checked out some Google reviews and a lot of them are pretty bad. I saw some stuff online about animal abuse in another state but can’t confirm it’s the same person. Tried to ask a couple local people about him and one of them told me he died yesterday on the side of highway 6? What is happening?

I’m getting married in November in Waco & am looking for some recommendations for the after party (after 9:30 pm).
I grew up in Waco but have not lived there after high school so I’m not super familiar with the bar scene

Valley Terrace Apartment police presence 8/17. Any ideas?

At the corner of Lake Air and Valley mills, the apartment complex had a lot of police presence with hazmat branded ambulances and firetrucks and crime scene tape could be seen from the road. Couldn’t find any articles or anything but curious if anyone has heard something.

Landlord / tenant lawyer in Waco?

Hi - does anyone have any suggestions or experience with a lawyer experienced with landlord / tenant law? (I'm the tenant.)

It's not an eviction, and while everyone says this, I feel like I'm on the side of the angels on this with a well-documented case of bad behavior by a landlord.

Thank you in advance for any suggestions you might have!

Marina on Lake Waco

On a map, it looks like there's a marina on Lake Waco near Ridgewood Country Club and The Delaney. Is this public? I'm looking for a place for my boat and the location would be perfect.

Thanks your your help!

Looking for a Corgi

Okay Waco reddit do your thing. I’m looking to adopt a corgi, preferably house trained and can tolerate a very laid back cat. Not really wanting to get from a bender or anything, would love to help save a life and give them a loving, happy home. 😊

Kid free household
Not necessarily looking for a puppy
Prefer to adopt, not shop
Willing to drive to Austin/Dallas area
I am disabled and deaf

Basketball in Waco Texas?

Just moved here for work about a month ago and want to go play basketball on some weekends, but can't find anywhere to go. Went to theCENTER and not only was it hot there weren't people playing there. Anybody got any recommendations on where good runs are? Indoor or outdoor, honestly doesn't matter.

Alamo Plaza Courts — Waco, Texas, 1939

The Alamo Plaza Hotel Courts is considered the first motel chain in the United States.

The first location opened in Waco, Texas, in 1929, and by 1955 there were more than 20 locations across the South. Many featured distinctive Mission Revival façades inspired by the Alamo in San Antonio.

The chain was also innovative for its time. By 1936, Alamo Plaza locations were among the first motels to put a telephone in every room. Later locations added amenities such as swimming pools, air conditioning, and TVs.

The decline of Alamo Plaza reflected changes in American road travel. Many properties were built along the old U.S. highway system and lost traffic as the Interstate Highway System expanded. Most were eventually sold, renamed, converted, or demolished.

New to Waco, just one question

Why the fuck do y’all drive so crazy? I thought Dallas drivers were bad, but holy shit. It seems like everyone is trying to go 20 over the speed limit. Are y’all in that big of a hurry?

Speed dating event to meet friends?

if i hosted a speed dating-style event to help people meet friends, would any of you be interested in attending?

the idea would be almost exactly like speed dating:
we all meet at a public space and you get 5 mins with each person to see if there’s a friendship connection before moving on to the next person

there could be separate events for men and women (or however you identify), different events for the different age groups, etc.

before i start planning, would anyone be interested in this? does anyone have any input?

i see a lot of posts on here about people looking for friends and think an event like this would be useful to help everyone meet new people!

let me know what everyone thinks!

again, all input and ideas are welcome :)

Is Gold's Gym Closing?

Got an email this afternoon that my membership is getting transferred over to Train Waco and August 17th is the last day I can use my membership at Gold's Gym.

I emailed to ask why but I haven't heard back and didn't find anything online about it either. I was wondering if anyone heard anything.
