I don't get the point of wearing something that, in your own opinion, is almost too white.

That's cutting it very close, lol. With a couple hundred guests, you can assume that plenty of people will be unsure as well, and many may think it's too white (including the bride). Who knows what the lighting will be like there, anyway? That could easily push it over the edge.
