WTF Tsunade

I got this girl about 3-4 months ago now and she certainly got bigger I'm hoping she's not too big?? She seems larger than some of the other WTF I see posted here but she's active and moves around her whole set up and I plan to add another hide for her soon. Any opinions, thoughts or advice is welcome!!

Setup advice?

Hi! I’ve been working veryyyy hard on upgrading my girl’s set up. (Ignore the substrate, I have leaf litter arriving tomorrow!!) What are some things I could add to make it even better for her? She’s been enjoying the pink swing, her hideaway and the frog ledge a lot. I’m also adding another water bowl after the leaf litter gets here because it’ll be on the ground.
(Also don’t mind the little bowl on the hideaway. I tried to switch it out with a little bigger one, that was too wide to sit on the hideaway but she kept sitting on the hideaway and avoiding the bowl I switched out lol. So I put it back)
Tank is 18x18x24
UVB 5 light for day time & turned off for night time
Humidity is at 55%
Temperature is at 70%

i’m new to frogs and i have a 45x45x60 vivarium and want to get some northern green tree frogs

i was wondering how i should ebay the tank for it to be most effective. i have seen online people using a heating mat and im wondering if there’s something i should use in conjunctions with that? and what the best recommended heating mat would be?

New babys

It would be better to keep them separate for now no? Just got these baby masked frogs but noticed the patternless is smaller. Just wondering is I should keep the smaller guy in his own enclosure till he gets more to his buddies size

White's Tree Frog won't come out!

I have two White's Tree Frogs, Whitey and Bashful. Bashful has always lived up to her name, being extremely antisocial and reclusive, sometimes disappearing for days into hidden crevices, and even into a burrow in the soil under a piece of wood in their old tank. Whitey, on the other hand, has always been rather gregarious, out and about every night, and always ready to eat a bug or launch himself across the enclosure for no particular reason. Anyway, I moved them into this larger cage about a month ago. The temps and humidity are good (88/75 °F day, 75/70 °F night; humidity 30-40%, with spikes around 50-60% after watering plants and at night). When I first moved them in, they imediately started sleeping in the bromiliads most days, but also spent some days sleeping elsewhere. Bashful was relatively active and less reclusive in the first few nights, but then became more stoic as usual. The troubling thi g is that she hasn't left the bromeliad she's shown sleeping in for several days now, and hasnt eaten, as far as I know, durring that time (I tong-feed duvia roaches, and always leave some roaches in feeding dishes). She might be coming out at night, but I haven't caught her the several times i've checked in the wee hours over the past week or so. Whitey is as active and all-over-the-place as ever. I did carefully scoop Bashful out of her hidey hole 2 days ago, and she appears healthy - no discoloration, has gain a few grams since the last weigh-in a month ago, and is fully ambulatory. Whitey is several grams heavier, though. Ideas on why she is acting this way, and/or how I can encourage her to get out of her funk? I've never experienced something like this with a frog, or any other herp, in my three decades of keeping many different species. Thanks.

New! Need clarification

Hello! I just got my first whites tree frog and she is the cutest little thing! I am a total beginner and I have a few questions because I want to give her the best life possible and i’m a bit stressed im doing it wrong already.

-Her substrate is clay balls with mesh ontop, then coconut substrate and moss packed down ontop. It does not have isopods/a clean up crew and I do not plan to get them. She hasn’t pooped yet but I plan to hand clean. How often do I have to do a full tank clean/remove substrate and replace? Are paper towels better for a no cleanup crew tank? Will poop be tough to spot in this substrate?

-i really was hoping I didnt have to feed her crickets or roaches but am learning now its a must. I got her yesterday and the person told me she last ate 3 days before. I gave her 3 hornworms as a treat/welcome home. Whens the next time I should feed her, and are night crawlers okay or are roaches an absolute must? Id rather not do crickets ever if possible but I will if I have to.

- i bought her the banana strawberry calcium dust but havent used yet. Is there a better choice? What should i go for and how often do i dust her meals? Every time or every other? I couldnt find a vitamin a supplement either.

I dont have an automatic mister yet. I do have a uvb bulb and plan to get her a ceramic heater for top of tank. This is her tank, and her current humidity/temp.

Any other tips? Hows her setup? I am eager to care for my frog properly, helpful feedback is heavily appreciated. Appreciate it!

Edited to add - i did get her humidity down to around 50 btw. Thats where it should be at correct?

thoughts and criticisms please

Hi! I’m still working on setting up my White’s tree frog enclosure and I’m wondering if there might be too much going on in here. I wanted to give them lots of climbing/hiding opportunities, but now I’m worried it could feel overcrowded or stressful for them. I do have more live plants but need to clean and quarantine them first.
I’d love opinions on:
- whether the layout seems too cluttered
- if there are any hazard spots I’m missing
- ideas for better placement of branches/plants/hides
whether there’s enough open space for movement

Help identify this tree frog! Tips for new frog owner?

Hello everyone! I’m a teacher, and one of our classroom science units involves watching tadpoles grow into frogs. We currently have some large tadpoles that are just starting to sprout legs, and I’m hoping to keep them once they become adult tree frogs!

The company we ordered from hasn’t been very helpful with explaining long-term care, so I’d love any advice from experienced frog owners. What substrates, heating/lighting, tank setup, humidity, or general care would you recommend for a beginner?

Also, if anyone happens to know what type of frog this is, I’d really appreciate the help. Thank you so much!

Dying frog question (no medical advice needed)

No pictures are included, but please be forewarned this post is asking a question about a dead or dying animal.

(TL;DR: how can I know for sure that my frog is dead?)

I have a 6+ year old American Green Tree Frog who has been slowing down over the last few weeks. He is not in distress or visibly ill so I’ve just been letting him live out his final days comfortably.

I found him today (within the last hour) unresponsive but upright on the leaf litter in his enclosure (bioactive). He is not responding at all to motion, gentle poking, or misting. However, he does not seem to be in rigor mortis yet, and is not discoloured or sitting weirdly. He has a few springtails crawling on him, but they aren’t swarming him yet. His pupils are not reactive to changes in light. There is no visible breathing, I’ve watched for quite a while.

How can I know for sure that he is dead? I don’t want to flip him or otherwise poke and prod at him just in case he is still alive. However, I also worry that if he is still actively dying, he might be uncomfortable with the springtails running around on him and, I’m assuming, biting.

Any insight or advice would be greatly appreciated.
