Made him a burial
I didn’t know what to do, he was like my best friend lowk. He was really young literally a year old.
I haven’t told my parents, but I made him a coffin and put dried flowers in there and buried him in my garden. Rest in peace my friend xx
Any idea how I would tell my parents? I think he died because of the UK heatwaves..
Albert has found out she likes wax worms, now she requires one everyday
No I don't give her one everyday more like once a week now xd
Supermodel Rosie
Rosie decided she wanted to be a model this morning.
Is this red leg or an injury? Taking to vet in the morning
Hi there, my gray tree frog is over 6 years old and I just noticed this swelling on one of his legs. He has been eating and pooping normally, but hasn’t ever been super active in his tank. Does anyone know what this might be from??? His lower half of his leg is super swollen compared to the other. He gets dusted crickets every other night.
Edit: he can still move the leg, but his toes are curled under and he’s kind of dragging it most of the time
My baby tree frog just died
He was less than a year and now I’m rlly sad

frog has scratches on skin?
hey guys! i usually am pretty good at identifying what is wrong with frogs (i am a paranoid frog mom), i am pretty sure these are scratches however i just want to be sure! i have a 70 gallon bioactive enclosure with isopods, springtails, thriving plants, and lots of hiding spaces. the back wall is also made of corkbark, spray foam and hanging plants, there is a system with a pump that has a light water drip down into a pond which i do water changes on daily, which i built to be retrievable if the pump ever breaks. i have a rock on top so that no frogs can sneak behind it, but i somehow found miso in the back yesterday. i would like to believe it is the cause of her scratches as she would of had to have squeezed herself back there. she is very active, eats normally and hasn't seemed off and there is no other misfires or red leg that would be indicative of bacterial... she also does like to jump around and belly flop though but i've never seen her skin like this:(
Red eyed tree frog died suddenly.
I have two red eyes. They’re both completely normal and have ideal temperature and humidity. They weren’t showing signs of stress and when I went to check on them today one was dead. I’m really depressed by this and want to know what caused it.
i had to take them out for a tank clean, they wish to be freed
Cute little tree frog (Illinois)
The wet weather has brought out a lot more amphibians than usual.
Update on my last post, my 130 gallon, 4’x3’x18” Whites Tree Frog/Dumpy Frog enclosure!
Hey again all, I figured I’d make another post in here after the final changes and tweaking I got some ideas from y’all for, as well as a couple YouTube creators. Forgive me in advance for copying a lot of info from my previous post but in the spirit of saving myself time I’ll not be typing it all over again 😂
Also, these pics were right after a spray down/cleaning, so the humidity is a tad higher than normal, but you can see it decreasing as you swipe through the pics.
This is my new 130 gallon 4’x18”x3’ enclosure for my whites tree frogs! They’ve moved in here from their 45gallon tall I bought them with as babes.
They have a 50w halogen basking bulb set to 85 degrees, an exoterra 14” uvb hood with a 7% Ferguson level 2 bulb, and a 4ft 87w led grow light from barrina for the plants (though I want to replace with an Arcadia soon). There’s a hefty amount of springtails and isopods of all sorts, though I avoided any heavy protein feeders. Plants I’ve added so far are cthante, an umbrella tree, satin pothos, marbled pothos, syngonium arrowhead, Florida ghost, sanseveria, a few money trees and some gold tips moss.
For substrate I did 4-6” of a mixture of about 4:4:3:2:1:1 reptibark, reptisoil, cocofiber, sphagnum, charcoal and playsand. The drainage layer consists of 2-3” of sphagnum moss as a soil barrier (not a fan of mesh), and a mixture of leca, charcoal and lava rock for the reservoir. There’s a good inch or more of leaf litter and various botanicals, and large pieces of cork bark for landing zones.
They have a 12”x5” 2.5 inch deep footage container for a water dish though I only fill about halfway, and a single centered mist king nozzle set for 30 seconds, 1x per day in the direction of their mosses on the cool side.
I opted not to do a background though I really wanted to, pond and stone is hard to find for a good price near me and I am skeptical about the bacterial buildup for big frogs. It’s home to my trio of 2 males and one female, Esquie, Francois, and Florrie! I plan to maybe introduce 1-2 more but want to make sure I find healthy frogs and that they’re not a cannibalism risk :)
I tried to utilize as much vertical space as possible by ziptying branches with holes drilled, and using the lid to my advantage. I also got my hands on some more perches for the sides/back, and some birds nest and staghorn ferns. I took those and made moss balls out of them, tied them tight, and tied them into place on a few ugly joint points. Any extra gaps I just stuffed in extra moss, then did one last pass with the twine, ensuring no gaps a frog may get into.
Added in a water bowl to the top area as well and fastened it with zip ties. I did leave the misting nozzle in, though it’s only set for 30 seconds 1x per day now instead of 2x, mainly because it’s such a large space and I have a window ac that dries everything out very quickly.

Terrarium Stain Safety
Hi Everyone, im currently building a new terrarium for my whites. Ive decided to refurbish an old curiosity cabinet for this. Im going to be extra picky keeping the inside safe for them, the inside will be waterproof and set up properly. The issue starts with the wood on the outside not matching our furniture so I want to stain it a different color. However im concerned that staining the outside wood would pose a threat to the frogs since they're such strong chemicals. Do you think only staining the outside wood and letting it cure for a month could be harmful to the frogs? Im happy not staining it for their safety. Thoughts?
Its kind of a unique situation, but I appreciate any thoughts. Thanks!
White's Tree Frogs Advice
Looking for advice on tank environment.
I have 3 white's tree frogs. The terrarium is 24"x18" and 36" high. Bio active: live plants, isopods and spring tail cleanup crew, and water mister. Frogs are croaking throughout the day! Only come out after sunset and are staying brown, occasionally get 1 turning green. Diet of crickets that they ravenously eat. Humidity is around 80%, still adjusting mister times and duration. The temp is where I feel I'm having issues. 78 at top, room temp 74 at base. I have a 75w heat lamp at the top, but I feel I need more. I tried a ceremamic bulb, but it was wilting and turning the ivy at the top brown. I have 2-3" soil and duff at the bottom, so I am not sure how an under heating pad would work. Considering a pad on the back of the tank, but again not sure if that would be the best, included a picket of the back (not too exciting). I am asking for any advice, suggestions, or ideas. Thank you.
Finished my build, looking for ways to improve it further.
Hey there! I've finally finished my tank build with the exoterra pro paludarium 36x18x36 (like... a month and a half ago lol).
My frogs are enjoying themselves (I have four in here together, debating two more eventually). Though, I'd like to try and spice up the tank a little bit. I've noticed that three of the frogs always sleep down in the brush. It seems strange, given that they're arboreal guys. One of them in particular prefers to bury itself in the dirt (it will push aside leaves and moss just to do this). That one makes the least sense to me. She's always been this way though, even before upgrading to this build.
(temps and humidity are being monitored and kept at optimal levels)
I'm thinking I might need to add some more branches in there? Though, I don't want it to be too cluttered. And, obviously, I can't attach any more branches to the background at this point. I've got some more cork bark rounds and another cool ghost wood branch like the one that's already in the tank. I'd also like to give them a water dish with more surface area to sit in, but I'm struggling to find room for that given the plants. Right now they've got a little bowl that can fit two of them together if they feel like snuggling in the water (they will do this).
Anybody got any ideas? I'd like my little froggies to live their best possible lives.
