Officiated my eldest son's marriage.

My almost 21 year old got married 2 days ago, and I had the honor of officiating the ceremony. Most emotional moment I've experienced with him since I first held him in my arms at the tender age of 24. At 44, I don't think it'll be long until I'll be holding a grandchild in my arms for the first time. Time marches on.

Delectable lunch sandwich

Heiloom toms, lettuce, turkey, red onion, Boursin chive and garlic cheese, garlic salt, pepper, mayo, on fill rue bread. It slapped!

Another tomato sandwich... but make it weird.

Took some herbal medicine, and got the munchies. I saw these Ube Coconut King"s Hawaiian rolls on the counter, and looked over at the tomatoes... and I went from there. It was... interesting. I tried just tomato and roll first, and that was actually better than the sandwich. I oversalted it a bit, and the pepper was too course. Still, a fun experiment and it sated my munchies (mostly).

The humble yet glorious tomato sandwich

My heirloom tomatoes have been productive. This is my favorite wayto use 'em. Lightly toasted sourdough, heirloom tomato, mayo, garlic salt, pepper. Yum.

My walking stave

Found in a river some years ago, this oak branch is my go-to walking stick. It feels good and balanced in the hand.

Schleich monsters?

Anyone else use Schliech figures for.monsters in their TTRPG games? Just picked up this beauty at FAO Schwartz in NYC. Gonna homebrew it for a Starfinder amd Pathfinder game as a cave dwelling toad with a tongue lash and swallow attack, a leap ability, and rocky skin that gives it slashing/piecing damage.

The MET has an amazing collection of historical armor and weapons!

The rest of the museum was cool too, but damn!

Feeling jumpy

Whitey decided to try to eat my phone camera last night. Silly guy.

Roof stick

Climbed up on the school gym roof today to do the end-of-year egg drop project for my students, and found a cool pistol stick.

White's Tree Frog won't come out!

I have two White's Tree Frogs, Whitey and Bashful. Bashful has always lived up to her name, being extremely antisocial and reclusive, sometimes disappearing for days into hidden crevices, and even into a burrow in the soil under a piece of wood in their old tank. Whitey, on the other hand, has always been rather gregarious, out and about every night, and always ready to eat a bug or launch himself across the enclosure for no particular reason. Anyway, I moved them into this larger cage about a month ago. The temps and humidity are good (88/75 °F day, 75/70 °F night; humidity 30-40%, with spikes around 50-60% after watering plants and at night). When I first moved them in, they imediately started sleeping in the bromiliads most days, but also spent some days sleeping elsewhere. Bashful was relatively active and less reclusive in the first few nights, but then became more stoic as usual. The troubling thi g is that she hasn't left the bromeliad she's shown sleeping in for several days now, and hasnt eaten, as far as I know, durring that time (I tong-feed duvia roaches, and always leave some roaches in feeding dishes). She might be coming out at night, but I haven't caught her the several times i've checked in the wee hours over the past week or so. Whitey is as active and all-over-the-place as ever. I did carefully scoop Bashful out of her hidey hole 2 days ago, and she appears healthy - no discoloration, has gain a few grams since the last weigh-in a month ago, and is fully ambulatory. Whitey is several grams heavier, though. Ideas on why she is acting this way, and/or how I can encourage her to get out of her funk? I've never experienced something like this with a frog, or any other herp, in my three decades of keeping many different species. Thanks.
