Why is the "goldfish in a bowl" trope still a thing in 2026?

I am so sick of seeing goldfish being sold as easy pets in small glass bowls. It is so annoying that we continue to regard living creatures as disposable decoration. A goldfish can live for twenty years and grow over a foot long but we still find it being crammed into a half-gallon of stagnant water with no filtration. But why do we as a society simply accept this as being normal?
If you cannot afford an actual nitrogen cycle proper fish aquarium with sufficient swimming space then you should have no fish. Period. I was browsing through export directories of Amazon and Alibaba the other day, and the amount of the so-called decorative bowls that are sold specially to fish is disturbing. It is all about the aesthetic and the low price, but no one cares about the stunted growth of the animal or agonizing burns of ammonia on its gills.
We should have more strict laws in pet stores and a massive turnaround in the way we educate people. A pet is an obligation you need to research on the water chemistry and other biological needs, not just a showpiece on your coffee table. When will we begin to appreciate life more than a matter of convenience? We need to demand more for these animals and not to consider their suffering as a usual hobby.

Chinese farmer uses drone to carry live pigs, gets caught in power lines, causing 10-hour village blackout

China farmer uses drone to transport pigs, causing power outage when cables get ensnared

Mountainside farmer blames darkness, low visibility for porker bungle; police say he could face punishment for damaging electricity lines

A farmer in southwestern China who used a drone to transport pigs to be slaughtered ended up with a porker stuck in mid-air and his village out of power for 10 hours.

The calamity happened after the drone’s rope became entangled with an electricity line.

The unidentified farmer was using the drone to lift his pigs and move them from the mountainous area in which he lives to a slaughterhouse in the early morning of January 24.

He said the location of his village in Tongjiang county, Sichuan province makes it inconvenient to transport pigs using vehicles, according to a report on the news outlet The Cover.

However, as the first pig was being transported, it became stuck in the air after the drone’s rope became entangled with a high-voltage line on its way down the mountain.

The farmer blamed his bungle on the fact that it was still dark at the time and visibility was poor.

A female employee from the local power supply authority said the village suffered a 10-hour long blackout.

“We sent 12 workers to repair the line. The repair costs are about 10,000 yuan (US$1,400),” the unnamed worker was quoted as saying.

The farmer involved said it was difficult to move his pigs by road because of the remoteness of his farm.

The power supply to the village resumed at 5pm the same day, she said.

An initial police investigation revealed that the farmer was suspected of having broken the law by using the drone in a no fly-zone. The device was also overloaded.

“We are still collecting evidence. If he is confirmed to have breached the law, he will face an administrative punishment and need to compensate for electricity equipment losses,” the officer said.

Eid is actually a pre islamic polytheists ritual. Muhammad adopted this ritual and twist it little bit. Slitting instead of one single blow like the pagans did.

This can be proven by taking Hinduism as an example. Hindus sacrifice goats as offerings to their gods on special days in temples. They then cook the meat and share a meal with all the devotees. The remaining meat is distributed to poor people.

Hey guys, if you missed it, CytoDyn just settled $500K with investors over claims it misled the market about its drug leronlimab some time ago. And they have already sent the agreement to the court for final approval.

In a nutshell, in 2021, CytoDyn was accused of overstating the effectiveness and regulatory progress of leronlimab. In short, the FDA later said the company’s claims were not supported by data, revealing no clear benefit.

After this news came out, the stock dropped 25%, and investors filed a lawsuit for their losses.

The good news is that the company recently agreed to settle $500K with them, and already sent this agreement to the court for final approval. So, if you invested in $CYDY when all of this happened, you can check the details and file your claim here.

Anyway, has anyone here invested in $CYDY at that time? How much were your losses, if so?

Pet supplies albany ga ‼️

DO NOT take your pets to Pet Supllies Plus in Albany GA. This is just a sample of how they mistreat and abuse the animals in their care. The local area manager shared this with several people but still refused to do anything about this saying they made the company too much money and it's fine. They should not be allowed to run this store and psp and Peta should investigate this and take action against them right now. This is disgusting and I pray all the animals are OK and we all need to stop shopping there or bringing our fur babies to them to be mis-treated and tortured. Please help put an end to animal abuse in all its forms.

🚨Animal abuse at 5505 Sky Park Apartments Sacramento CA, 95823🚨

🚨 WARNING TO ANYONE CONSIDERING SKY PARK APARTMENTS 🚨

This apartment complex allowed children to terrorize and abuse community cats for MONTHS while management looked the other way.

Cats were:
- chased
- kicked
- threatened
- poisoned
- disappearing one by one

Over 20 cats are now missing, dead, or suspected poisoned.

I personally documented children on camera threatening cats, harassing my service dog, screaming racial slurs, and making violent comments. My service dog is now fearful because of the constant harassment.

Want to know the worst part?

When I tried to raise awareness using screenshots from security footage, management told me I was committing “child abuse” by exposing the behavior instead of addressing the abuse happening to animals.

Meanwhile:
- rescuers had to remove 30+ cats from the property for their safety
- tenants complained repeatedly
- management allegedly continued protecting the families involved instead of the animals

Animal abuse is illegal. Defending it is disgusting.

If this happened at your apartment complex, would you stay silent?

Sacramento deserves to know what has been happening here.

Please help bring attention to this situation because animals kept disappearing while management failed to act.

If you believe apartment management should be held accountable for ignoring animal abuse and tenant safety concerns, make your voice heard. Public pressure is often the only thing that forces situations like this to be taken seriously. Share this, report the property to the appropriate agencies, and leave honest public reviews so future tenants know what has been happening here.
