This is Mia. She was 9 when I rescued her. She had been with two families previously. Both abandoned her for some reason.
She got cancer (T-cell lymphoma) around 11 years old. She made it about 5 months after diagnosis (7/13/2025).
She was literally the sweetest dog I’ve ever had. I don’t even think I can get another.
I miss her.

My husband has always wanted a boxer. He grew up with a Mastiff who was a gentle giant but a big imposing boy when he needed to be.
We have 4 children. Currently ages 1-10
perhaps in a year or 2 we’d be open to getting a dog. My husband keeps mentioning boxer but I’ve never had one.
Between us we have grew up with, German shepherd, Staffordshire bull terrier, border collie, Doberman and mastiff.
We want a breed good with kids but large enough to be imposing to unwanted visitors (not a guard dog but enough to keep a burglar away) ideally not a dog that’s prone to aggression or reactivity.
Give me all the pros and cons please

Our church had the blessing of the Animals today and Gunner got to go. He was a verra good boi. He didnt jump on the rector. Didn't start anything with the Chihuahua that was growling at him. Took his blessing and behaved. He even stood at the appropriate times. He got a goodie for behaving so well. Look at how happy and smily he is.
